The circle continues to form!!!!
Current mood: excited
Category: Music

From Sabrina ~Enchantment~ Saxon ...

So much is happening and happening so fast that it is hard to keep up with this whirlwind and everything that is within it. The Seeds album is just about finished and Sky Sunlight Saxon is happy to announce that many great things are happening with his favorite band, YaHoWha 13. Billy and Kerry have embraced Djin Aquarian and the band he is guitarist for, YaHoWha 13. YaHoWha 13 is the Source Family band and you can check in with them at their myspace HERE. The Source Family is Sky Sunlight Saxon's spiritual family that he has been a part of since the late 60's. Many of you who have seen Sky in concert have probably heard him sing about YaHoWha. You can also learn a lot more about Sky's spiritual family by purchasing the book HERE.

Sky Sunlight, Sabrina~Enchantment~, and Djin Aquarian all had the opportunity to go to Sunset Recording Studio last night and hang out with Billy and Kerry while they put the finishing touches on the Smashing Pumpkins last song of their new album. Do we detect a bit of YaHoWha 13 influence??? We think we do!!! Then on to a birthday party for Laurel whose record company is re-releasing the Source Family's album, Penetration. Will let you know on this site as well as the YaHoWha 13 site as well as out other sites ... where you can purchase then when it is up for sale. Sky is so excited that the family band is finally starting to get the recognition they deserve. Needless to say, he and Djin both are reeling from everything that is happening for the Source Family, YaHoWha 13, and for so many people starting to come to know the sacred name of God, YaHoWha. So many young people who are totally entranced and thirsty and hungry for more and more and more of YaHoWha. Many were introduced to YaHoWha through the music of the family as well as YaHoWha13.

This circle is indeed being completed and we are all looking forward to what the future holds for us and this earth we now live on.

YaHoWha!!!

YaHoWha 13????

Members of The Source Family, a communal religious group living in the Hollywood Hills in the early 1970s, decided to fuse their musical talents and spirituality by forming an improvisational, psychedelic music group. They began to make LPs in 1973, all of which were recorded after hours of meditation at 3-6 AM in a soundproofed garage that served as the musicians’ studio in the family's communal residence. All of the records with Father Yod’s participation were completely improvised, with no rehearsals or overdubs. Most of the albums were small-press runs, with only 500 to 1000 copies made under the Higher Key Records imprint. They were sold to the general public in Father Yod’s wildly popular vegetarian Source Restaurant for $10 each. Though only 9 LPs were produced and released, it is rumored that more than 65 albums were recorded by the group and have since been destroyed.

i'm offended they didn't ask me for my cello services.

Hard and heavy electric guitars, this is a 7 minute epic rock track called ‘Superchrist’. The deep quasi-metal sound lulls into a beautiful gentle break featuring Billy Corgan’s folk-style picked acoustic guitar overladen with Ysanne delicate violins. Harmonically progressive, this is brave and dangerous stuff.

Yeah. I'm not gonna get my hopes up. I was surprised beyond belief that the band managed to get a four track EP recorded and released in a month's time. For them to record an album within a couple months would be an entirely different kind of feat.

But it is nice to think about the possibility that perhaps American Gothic is merely the tip of the iceberg as far as what the band has been doing the last couple months.

I was thinking when I listened to again x 3 and pox that they sound demo ish to me. Perhaps they were recorded pre zeitgesit and this studio time has been spent on an album?

na, I don't buy it either. Why put out rose march, and some other songs when a new album is around the corner? They would never get an album done this quickly..writing or recording........unless live gossamer is going on and then a 9 song album would be a possibility.

My ultra-optimistic version of things is that since they already had a bunch of songs written and ready to go from the residencies, that meant that they could just go into the studio and start recording from day one and churn em out pretty quick. Then once they got a bunch recorded, they realized a few didn't fit well with the others...and those few that didn't fit became American Gothic. It makes sense in my mind anyway. As good as the Rose March is, could you really see it being on the same album as something like Superchrist? That'd be pretty eclectic even by SP standards.

I just revisited AG. It feels like 4 pretty well executed BC/JC "jams". It does not feel like 4 pretty well executed Smashing Pumpkins tracks.

I hate to say it, but I agree with you.

When you consider that every demo/b-side SP did pre-Zeitgeist is better than all 4 AG tracks, it isn't so outlandish to say that Billy's best rock is behind him.

I can't imagine him making a simple track without ruining it with production, and I can't imagine him making a crazy/complex/epic track without ruining it with terrible lyrics/vocals.

That's not what you want to hear yourself say about your most beloved artist...but Billy's suckness is becoming way too "normal" to write-off as a "phase" anymore.

In his own words I guess you could say I'm feeling like:
"you blame yourself...for what you can't ignore.
you blame yourself for wanting more."

YAHOWA :
THE STORY, THE RADIOPROGRAM, CHRONICALLY WITH DISCOGRAPHY

"In 1969 To Baker, a middle aged follower of the Yogi Bhajan a Kundalini yoga master and health food prophet who came to the US on the heels of the Maharashi. When Bhajan declared that he was not God, Baker assumed the mantle himself. He gathered a group of acolytes who became known as The Source and opened a health food restaurant, The Aware Inn, in Hollywood's Laurel Canyon. Eventually dubbed Father Yod (later changed to Yahowa), Baker espoused a philosophy dictating kindness to animals, a rw fruit and vegetable diet, wearing the white cotton clothes, and sex without orgasm. Apocryphal stories about The Source's practices abound. The most persistent was based on the similarity of the spelling between god and dog. Among the faithful who toiled at the Aware Inn were a number of musicians, whose talents Yod enlisted when the tapes began spooling." Byron Coley (from review in the Wire : see note at the end)

They could have just gone into Billy's closet to find more songs. You know, that school-bus-sized box of demos and songs? At any rate, I don't think they could have done the recording for a full-length album in a month, considering how long Zeitgeist took. They could have songs that were written pre-Zeit, but post reformation that they just decided not to record for the feel of the album.
