oh, i think glass is pretty good btw. i can't vote it as favorite because it isn't, but it's good nonetheless. this was a tough decision, but soma has been consistently my favorite throughout the years, so i went with that.

i'd rank nearly all of gish, sd, pi, mcis, & tafh, and about 2/3 of adore and machina/machina ii over glass.

the drums in the first few seconds are cool, some nice ideas about melody/chord progression/phrasing. the whole thing is such a blatant attempt to simultaneously be the next starla/soma/porcelina/ruby and to parody the whole category that it immediately becomes laughable. the spoken word midsection is nothing short of embarrassing (no matter which way you look at it) and later live versions yielded so much improvement with the last part of the song that it kinda threw the whole studio version into question.

i think this is a good top 9, it's full of great songs.
glass is an alright song, it doesn't do too much for me (just like machina as a whole didn't do too much for me compared to sd and mcis). muzzle never did much for me either, but i know a lot of fans like it. A LOT.

i voted porcelina, i was thinking that the guitar work is amazing, and i enjoy the lyrics a lot too. i almost voted for hummer, i kinda wish i did...

i have to agree with mariner (EVEN THOUGH HE CLEARLY HATES ME) about the spoken word part in glass being embarrassing. It's what kills the song for me. I like it up to that point and then... they lose me.

i dont feel that porcelina is a top pumpkins song either. vocals can be a lil overbearing and i just get bored by it rather quickly. the main riff is cool though, especially in the beginning.

Starla I have always loved and Ruby, Porcelina and Soma are truly great :)

It's kind of a joke to put Glass ahead of 1979. Starla's performance is embarrassing as well, but Hummer demanded my vote.

This is certainly an acceptable list, with that one jarring exception. And it does conclusively demonstrate that Siamese Dream is supreme.
