Billy said in one of his blogs (I think the one where he finds out he has a brother) he said that his father was just a little over 20 when he was born

When Britney Spears went to the hospital or whatever the hell happened to her, I'm sure no one on the internet joked about how "glad they'd be if she would've died" because her life is so precious.

It would be different if there was a rule here at :netphoria that said, "Please don't make jokes about famous people's parents and their drug problems."

I think this pic gives it much more validity. Its pretty close to a sure shot that its definitly him. Theres way too many similarities. The "real" picture of him on the right, he is in mid sentence. When your mouth is open in mid sentence, it will change the shape of your nose in photos, especially if the lighting isnt the best (which it is not in this case).

The jaw line, the way the face sags around the jaw, the ear height and shape. hairline. everything. too close to say its not him.

robert, there aren't rules anywhere that say you shouldn't make these kind of jokes, but it's certainly not a bad thing to have compassion for people. I think britney is a trainwreck, but i don't make jokes even about her. Some people prefer to draw the line at stuff like that.

There are no Bill Corgan Sr. forums and the only thing he did to have anyone from the public to give him shit was giving his son his name. It's fine if you live in the Temple Terrace community and don't want this kind of stuff happening in your own backyard, but for anyone to make any kind of judgements is ridiculous.

i have a friend whose name is bernard jeffrey oniell, jr. his fathers name however is bernard william oniell, sr. they both go by ben, hence the sr/jr.

i figured the only reason billy was named patrick was because his birthday is on st patricks day (i know at least 1 person where this is the case).

I have always thought that the naming situation there is incorrect, that the middle name does have to be the same to merit the sr/jr/iii/etc.
I have the same first and last name as my father, grandfather, great grandfather, and so on, but because we have different middle names, none of us take a title.

the title change doesn't bother me so much as this thread getting closed briefly last night (though i guess it doesn't matter since it was reopened). But it's like that song a day thread getting closed, that was just because it annoyed him. People strayed off topic a lot, but always went right back to talking about the pumpkins, which i thought was what this board was supposed to be about. My theory is that all the mods besides corganist hate the pumpkins now and also hate everyone (or most everyone) who post on the sp board, and they let their personal feelings dictate how they moderate the board. A mod should be impartial and just enforce the rules.
i mean, i'm all for having them come on here and tell us all to fuck off if they feel like it, but censoring a topic that people want to talk about, that's about the band or the members of the band, is going overboard.

In the only post I've written in this thread I only made a joke about how "bad" Zeitgeist is (even though I listen to it pretty often and actually like it a lot... well at least the first 5 tracks) and related it to the topic of this thread. I didn't make fun of Billy Dale directly, just his drug use, which is something people joke about all the time, especially on the internet.

I respect him as the father of a good musician and a pretty good musician himself (from what I've seen of his blues stuff). I don't respect his drug use, however.

If he were dead, I wouldn't even post in the thread.

Seeing as he's just got himself in jail, he's just like my alcoholic brother, who I make fun of frequently for his addiction and for ending up in jail more times than I can remember, or count on both hands.

I also said in my original post that it sucks that it seems like shit is hitting the fan with Billy's "family" since the Pumpkins came back (Jimmy's heart, Billy Dale's heroin). So I definitely feel for the guy.




All's I'm sayin' is I draw the line a little higher because I have experienced similar stuff. But I do have compassion.

Never was this thread meant to be closed. I changed the title because this isn't definitely his father (and we're claiming it is, which I didn't believe at first but do now).

Regarding your other thread, for three pages people were talking about rep. It was a plus-one thread which has always been against Andrew's policies.

This board is one of the least-moderated music sites around.
