HOPEFULLY this is the start of an era for BC & JC. I'm unhappy about Superchrist but I'm hopeful that BC & JC will continue to record songs and hopefully just release them for free, online. it's almost as if they hear what fans want and do their best to make sure it doesn't happen. Then again, maybe I'm alone in my distaste for superchrist. i dunno.

yeah. some people idealize this song in a live environment, but it would be good to see them lay this down in the studio also. maybe a 15 minute version, tops.

Some songs are just too sacred to let into a studio with Billy. I mean, I love Zeitgeist, but all the songs are so much better live. And I've already ranted about the butchering of "The Rose March" more times than I can count.

At the Normal, IL show my GF (who is a casual SP fan from back in the day) honestly thought Superchrist was United States. So much that when they played US, she asked me why they were playing it again.

I like Superchrist as an opening jam. I wish Billy would cut out the part with the vocals and just have the song be a few minutes of face melting guitar jamming just to let the crowd know what they're in for. It doesn't really stand so great as a song by itself.

Superchrist rocks. Jimmy's drum performance in particular is one of his best in recent years.

However, the lyrics confuse me. I don't know if Billy is going on a religious rant about how you have to accept christ to be pure (which is lame), or if he's telling christ that evolution is the solution. The lyrics are stupid, but the music is outstanding.

I'd much rather have studio Gossamer though.

I'm hoping they pull out some new ideas for the studio version... The voice/guitar breakdown is kind of cool, but in my estimation, it's not worth the other 6 minutes of droning on the same note in order to get there.

Usually, I roll my eyes at a lot of the complaints this board raises against the new material, but this is one instance where I agree that the song is sort of a turd.

But, I guess as a one-off thing for the Guitar Center comp (or wherever this thing ends up)... it's not that big of a deal. The pre-breakup Pumpkins had their share of turd songs as well.

SO I was thinking. The keys that are played when Billy sings will still be there in the studio version, however, he will have MBC's along with it. Cuz they keys Lisa plays Live are basically the same notes Billy is singing so I can see him layering his voice to that. Just a thought.

I'm sure I called a couple of rude people rude, complained a lot about the personal attacks on me, but I don't think I defended the band any more than I do now.

as tired as a point this is, its still a point. i'd say zeitgeist has been around long enough, they toured, its recorded, you should know what this band is doing by now. if you don't care for it, whats the point. and there's a difference between criticism and just dumping on everything thats put out.

but i won't "find a new band", because I love this band. I'm not going to blindly love all of their output simply because it's them. In general i like zeitgeist, even if it doesn't move me emotionally the way i would have wanted. I'm optimistic for the future and will always be a fan, but that doesn't mean I can't say that I don't like something when I simply don't.

I however am happy to have any new recording the band wants to throw at us because I don't know if anyone recalls but they actually broke up! For a while we had NO Pumpkins. So I'm happy. And even if you don't dig on the song choice or you feel the production/songwriting is less than amazing, every song we get is another chance to meet those expectations. Superchrist I dig somewhat but I just generally love seeing what tomfoolery is layered into the production of a new Pumpkins song. Love it or hate it, Rose March certainly wasn't how I expected it to sound. Thats whats interesting to me.

I hope that Superchrist is tweaked into complete obscurity from the song we know live. Then we'll have two versions.

i never questioned it because they've put their music in a lot of places this last year. commercials, movies, itunes, store exclusives, radio. so it wouldn't surprise me.

could take a couple hours, could take a couple weeks.


depending on how detailed it is, it could take weeks to mix it alone.


but superchrist was done in a day or two i would guess.

as much as i haven't enjoyed live recordings of this song in the past, and as much as i've been negative about it on this thread, i think i can be open to the possibility of enjoying this. What it really comes down to is personal preference; sometimes I like where billy takes a song (usually I do), sometimes I don't. Who knows where this one will end up? I'm willing to be more open minded about it than i have been.
