In info about the EP it implies outside the US you can get a hard copy of the EP. Im from UK, does anyone know were you can buy it from or have I got mixed up about availability of the hard copy?

I'm hoping for a copy as well, perhaps they'll be available at the gigs - I'm off to Manchester too, they better bring out the Mellon Collie. It's probably going to be pretty empty, as it's still not sold out.

Actually, I'm almost certain it's the exact opposite. Everywhere EXCEPT the US will have a hard copy of the EP, and the US gets to download the songs from iTunes. So I'll get to import it. WOo...

"In the U.S., iTunes is the exclusive retailer; elsewhere in the world, American Gothic will be available as a physical product at retail."

Thanks, guess we'll wait and see. Yep I was surprised to see the pumpkins doing an arena tour as they are not very big in UK anymore. I get the vibe they are still quite big in the US. I went to the glasgow gig and I prefer the whole small more intimate venues. I just hope they do 2hrs sets like the last tour.

It depends on what your definition of "quite big" is. One of the reasons they played smaller venues was that they couldn't sell out bigger ones.

When I was in high school (last year) the most popular "rock" bands were Fall Out Boy and those faggots followed probably by the Chili Peppers and Metallica and maybe Nirvana. No one knows who the Smashing Pumpkins are around here.

I've actually seen two people at my school with Pumpkins shirts since Zeitgeist... one of them is an old one. I didn't get a good look at it, but it's definitely either SD or MCIS era. So that was cool... I wanted to go talk to her, but it was in the hallway... and I hate it when people just stand in the middle of the hallway and talk. Also, I realize that just because I'd love it if a stranger came up to me and wanted to talk Pumpkins doesn't mean everyone else would... ha.

The other shirt was the SP flag.

EDIT: Please don't preach to me about how I'm an arrogant stupid teenager and will grow up one day and realize this. I ALREADY know this... The "Adults are much better" comment is in reference to their musical taste, nothing more. It's obvious that if you're not a complete moron you only learn more with time.

I don't really think of 25 as "adult." I think of it as... pre-adult. My sister's 21 and she's still not an adult at all.

I think 30-something. And besides, we never ever stop learning. That's what I don't get about people in their 20s who think that now that they don't have "teen" attached to their age they know everything. Like you said, they decide they have infinite knowledge and will never learn anything new because they already know everything. I plan to keep learning forever, and hopefully I remember that I'm still learning so I'm not a jerk to people who don't think like I do.

God, I need to go to bed :erm:

the funny thin is that 25 will come and you will still feel like 19. then 27, 28, 30. you still feel the same. I recall being 17 and thinking that 30 was fucking old and there was a huge divide. turns out there isn't. You will remain essentially yourself for the rest of your life. It's strange because you feel the same the entire time but there are more and more responsibilities imposed upon you and your number increases.

I guess none of the 3 England shows are sold out yet, but I know for the O2 in London, the floor sold out very quickly. And now if you want seats, only very bad ones come up. Seems like it'll be pretty full.

I think the floor for Manchester and/or Nottingham are sold out too. Not sure about eeated areas.

Yup. I'm 28 and it's pretty much like being 18, only difference is now I gotta pay the bills. And watch my friends get married and have babies. I wonder when that will stop freaking me out...

But sometimes you feel really old, like I did when I noticed I read what high school kids are listening to at the moment with great interest. I've obviously become one of those people who actually want to know "what the kids are listening to these days". When did this happen? I need a drink.

I heard the German release of American Gothic comes with a limited edition pink cover and a bonus "The joke is over - Stoppen ze throwen ze cuppen" t-shirt. True?

Completely true and if you pre-order you go into the draw to win a signed piece of limited edition sp memorabilia worth $299.

So this is still a non-US release, I suppose.

The original news article (http://www.smashingpumpkins.com/news_2846) said "In the U.S., iTunes is the exclusive retailer; elsewhere in the world, American Gothic will be available as a physical product at retail."

When Mr. MediaMilitia posted the new article (http://www.smashingpumpkins.com/news_2915), I assumed he meant that it would also be released on CD in the USA. Otherwise the info is nothing new at all! "American Gothic will be available on CD as a regular commercial release."

^ Was there any doubt that it'd be released on CD outside the USA? So why post the new item unless he meant USA too? Or maybe he thought we were still unsure it it'd come out on CD instead of, say, 8-track?

Either way, it would be so ridiculous not to release it in the USA. Enough with the bullshit releases! (Zeitgeist rainbow, iTunes exclusives, etc).

Was starting to seem that way.

I saw no doubt, what with visions.de already reporting the release date, and also uncut.co.uk. And now Amazon.de.

THE UNITED STATES WANTS IT TOO YOU FOOLS!!!

Probably not, if it's just the standard Australian release.

Also the "Laptop speakers/headphones" Winamp EQ setting makes American Gothic sound way better. I'm actually digging it a fair bit :erm:.

nope, just the regular Oz release (which is identical to the regular US release).

God the review from "interference.com" (appears to be a u2 fansite) that's been linked on American Gothic's wikipedia page is horrendous. Sounds like the over-enthusiastic, adjective-laden crap I used to write in high school.

I mean I liked the ep but...

"The first song of the EP is “Rose March.” It is the most creative and stunning of all the tracks. The melody is absolutely beautiful. The vocals are among Corgan’s best, as are the lyrics. Its chorus would sound perfect coming from the radio on a drive through the country. It might be the title, but this song makes me think of a spring day and a wedding. Its beauty will probably evoke similar images in the minds of other listeners.

This is part of the cinematic aspect of an amazing EP. You will often find yourself envisioning a place or event. Near the end, Jimmy Chamberlin comes in with the drums at the perfect time to take the song to a new level. That level being among the band’s best songs. “Rose March” is a true wonder."

Sweet, so the 2nd one is the EU release with the different CD artwork/design? That would be found on the German version, correct? Or, where else could I order that one (besides amazon.de)?

Best album of 2008!! ;)

i think the second one is available everywhere in europe, outside of the uk.
i don't know where to buy it online.
it makes sense that amazon.de would carry it. but then amazon is very "international". it's not uncommon they ship things from the uk even when you ordered them on amazon.de; or the other way around.
