Smashing Pumpkins Authentic "Unsigned Discography" Memorabilia
Price: $199.00
WTF?
RenewRevive 12-31-2007, 03:41 PM hope they don't go crazy with the sell-off; they may need to buy them back when they recommence the tour.
Thomas 12-31-2007, 03:44 PM I want Billy's shoes.
BurtSampson 12-31-2007, 03:45 PM Those are pretty fucking cool, if not a bit Hard Rock Cafe-ish.
emotionalfriend 12-31-2007, 03:54 PM When will they start selling Ginger's panties?
hnibos 12-31-2007, 04:08 PM "graced" the shelves
BurtSampson 12-31-2007, 04:20 PM Also, that drum head does not look used.
The Gaddrow 12-31-2007, 04:22 PM Holy fuck, this is sad.
Twineball 12-31-2007, 04:28 PM Jimmy plays Vic Firth sticks, not Zildjians.
I smell something fishy.
...not Ginger's panties as previously mentioned.
smashapumpkin 12-31-2007, 04:44 PM i want gingers and lisas panties
marisa 12-31-2007, 08:30 PM My question is is the discography signed by everyone in the new SP even though some of them didn't play on any of the records? That would be kind of weird. When I met the Pumpkins at an in-store signing back in 2000 I had all of them (excluding Melissa) sign my Adore LP cover. Everytime I look at it I think of how Jimmy signed it but didn't actually play on it. It bothers me I guess. I wish I hadn't of done it.
reprise85 12-31-2007, 08:32 PM he's played almost all the songs live, who cares

IAWTP...
purchasing an autograph is so bunk; also about Adore: good point, I would regret it, too
The Melty Man 12-31-2007, 09:26 PM I can never get close enough to any of them to get an autograph for free; therfore purchasing is a viable option.
You Said 12-31-2007, 09:28 PM When will they start selling Ginger's panties?

stumpycat 12-31-2007, 11:12 PM This gets me to thinking about who the fuck really has control over the website and its contents. There have been some people within the entertainment field whose websites are run by a third party (who rarely, if ever has contact with the said actual person/people) but who has been contracted by management or the group who "owns" them (in this case, I guess it would be Warner?) to run their "official" website. Lots of merchandise hocking (some of which is rather questionable) goes on, some of it of rather dubious origin. It sounds to me like Warner gave Bollster the contract, but in the deal--rather than demand high record sales--they would simply recoup the money from the contract via tour and merchandising opportunities like this.
TheNewZackMorri 12-31-2007, 11:20 PM There's no way I'm buying either of these because it's ridiculous. However, I'm interested about Machina II being included with the discog. Wonder if it's vinyl sourced.

coming soon:
Eagles
Lang Lang
Paris Hilton
stumpycat 12-31-2007, 11:34 PM Ahahaha. Dear lord.
As dreadful as their list of clients is, however, I believe that most of the time they are only taking orders from the management that acts as a liaison between the people who supervise the webpage and the band/actor/entertainer.

that is weird. if it was a cleaned up/remixed version you'd think they would make more of it. my guess is it is just a cd-r of the quality that is freely available, or maybe cranked up like those that appeared on rotten apples/judas 0.
marisa 01-01-2008, 12:30 PM Does the discography have actual discs or is it just a framed poster of all their album covers? The price would suggest discs included but then again who knows..... Why does it say the stuff was added to their catalog on December 26th but they just put an advertisement out about it yesterday?
MonteLDS 01-01-2008, 12:43 PM i like how it says coming soon and then says sold out.. which one is it
Twineball 01-01-2008, 02:01 PM i like how it says coming soon and then says sold out.. which one is it

Same. I had a big poster of Adore and Melissa drew a picture of herself to fit in. I thought it was rather cute.
smashkin33 01-01-2008, 05:12 PM i saw this new merch on the site a couple days ago when i was ordering a tshirt from the site. while those things look kinda neat, i'd never hang them in my house.

Has nothing to do with needing more money. If he did need more money, then he could and would release his entire vault of unreleased music. Plenty of music there to live off of for the rest of his life.
smashkin33 01-01-2008, 05:29 PM i've got paz's ass hanging in in my house
it's actually sagging,
i have a pic of paz's ass hanging in my living room too- "it's art"
now, is her ass sagging, or the print itself! :banging:
DamingR 01-01-2008, 10:05 PM I think the discography poster is pretty cool, but for $300 I would need to know dimensions and see a picture of a signed version. Also, the microphone shadowbox has the Paris setlist to the right. Will the setlist vary depending on the microphone or are they all the same? Again, dimensions? Metal frame or wood?
You can't sell things for $300 or $400 and not tell people what in the hell they are ordering.

srt4b 01-02-2008, 12:53 AM i love the old zero shirt at the bottom, it's like well if no one buys the zeitgeist stuff maybe they will remember this one?
Banana 01-02-2008, 01:33 AM I'd love to get that hoodie but that price is steep
yoshinobu's revenge 01-02-2008, 11:39 AM wow. terrible. billy outdoes himself yet again.
Cool As Ice Cream 01-02-2008, 11:51 AM I wish I hadn't of done it.
nice.
Cool As Ice Cream 01-02-2008, 11:52 AM I think the discography poster is pretty cool, but for $300 I would need to know dimensions and see a picture of a signed version.
is it just a poster?
Twineball 01-02-2008, 12:52 PM is it just a poster?
That's the thing. Nobody knows what the hell these things are! It might be a lithograph, it might be actual CDs, they don't tell us. The official site store is shoddy.
If they expect people to pay $300, they need to describe what they ARE.
DamingR 01-02-2008, 01:09 PM I've been thinking about it, and they look like photoshop mock-ups. Since the items aren't available for ordering yet ("Sold Out"/"Coming Soon!"), maybe they are going to post better pictures and descriptions when they actually have them in stock and make them available for ordering.
Sarcastic Smile 01-04-2008, 12:00 AM Is this why they are so adamant about not signing things aside from tattoos? So they can sign other stuff and sell it....? I am not being facetious ..
stumpycat 01-04-2008, 07:26 PM There are a lot of artists/entertainers that are a little more circumspect about signing autographs, precisely because of the "Ebay effect." Note, however, that it seems these autographs do not necessarily sell that well when they are on Ebay--at least not for what people try to charge for capturing someone's scribble on a piece of paper. I think a lot of people are sensible enough to realize that autographs more about recalling the actual contact experience than that worthless fucking piece of paper (or whatever object.) Not to mention the crop of ultra-douchebag autograph hunters that apparently hang around stage doors waiting for these people to go on public display.
themadcaplaughs 01-04-2008, 07:36 PM I sent PumpkinsMediaMilitia a message on my Smashing Pumpkins Web site account; they have absolutely no idea what the hell is in it.

Yeah that's true.. i haven't really seen a band sell something like this though... unless it's for charity, I have no problem with it... it's just really random.. what difference is $600 going to make in the grand scheme of things(or however much it adds up to) and I am sure if it was for charity they would announce it so I am assuming it's not...
