maybe if they made good music the would have enough income from that, and they wouldn't have to pawn off their used equipment

like, if they really wanted to make a buck, the metro dvd should have seen the light of day by now.

They're selling the items to raise funds for charity.

"December 11, 2007 - HELP RAISE FUNDS FOR CYCLONE SURVIVORS IN BANGLADESH"

I'm amazed any of you could actually think they would do this for pocket money, as the funds would be nothing more than a drop in the ocean.

It says this on the SP website:

December 11, 2007 - HELP RAISE FUNDS FOR CYCLONE SURVIVORS IN BANGLADESH

MUSIC FOR RELIEF has launched click here and scroll all the way down to view auction items and to bid.

Please join Smashing Pumpkins and Music for Relief to help those in need. Click here to make a donation to aid the survivors in Bangladesh.

About Cyclone Sidr:
On November 15th Cyclone Sidr brought winds of up to 150 miles an hour, creating a 15 foot sea surge, devastating coastal regions in Bangladesh. The storm killed approximately 3,500 people, left over 40,000 injured while over 800 people are still missing. 8.5 million people have been affected by the cyclone and tens of thousands of people are still in urgent need of food, shelter, medical supplies and clean drinking water. Music for Relief is responding to the disaster by raising funds for the survivors, thank you for your support.

About Music for Relief
Founded by members of the band Linkin Park, Music For Relief is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization dedicated to providing aid to victims of natural disasters and the prevention of such disasters. Since its inception in 2005, Music for Relief has raised over $2 million for the victims of the tsunami tragedy in Southeast Asia and hurricanes Katrina and Rita. MFR has organized a benefit concert featuring multi-platinum artists & numerous celebrity guests, sent musicians and volunteers to Southeast Asia and the U.S. Gulf Coast to help rebuild and donate supplies to people in need, and planted over 355,000 trees to help reduce global warming.

I just want to point out how pathetically lame that last part is, about having "planted over 355,000 trees to help reduce global warming."

355,000 is about the number a single veteran treeplanter will do in a single 3.5 month season. It's grossly pathetic that they announce that like as if it's some splendid accomplishment. For shame, for shame.

if only radiohead did the same thing so we could all rant about how nifty and cool or rather irrelevant that is... this however is obviously a cash-in and further prove that billy hates his fans. i bet there will be special edition sticks and mics.....

if they'd care they'd plant some trees themselves

Oh, ok. It still can't be for the money. As I said, it's a drop in the ocean... unless they cost $50,000 a piece. But I assume that'd still be like a drop in the ocean for them.

they should sell one copy of the metro dvd for like 10 grand, then that person can seed it on bittorrent for free to all of us
