how normal or abnormal is eating the following kinds of meat where you live?
- rabbit
- horse
- dog

here in belgium:
rabbit: normal.
horse: fairly normal. it's available at the butcher's, but i don't think many people actually eat it.
dog: not done.

i have never heard of anyone eating those things, but i'm sure people eat rabbit like in the UP. one day when i was working in the meat shoppe someone brought in a bear to be made up into steaks n what not. so if people eat bear, i wouldn't be surprised if they ate horse and dog.

Austria:
Rabbit: Not totally uncommon.
Horse: Ditto, though it's mostly salami.
Dog: Not at all, I suppose.

here in illinois:
rabbit: i wouldn't say it's "normal", but people do eat it. i've never had it, and i don't see it in stores. on a side note, i really like the word "hasenpfeffer"
horse: no
dog:no

In PA a lot of woodsy people like to talk about eating deer all the time. I've had deer jerky once, and it's not bad.

As for rabbit, horse, and dog... one ultra woodsy person may have tasted rabbit before, that's about it.

None to all of the above in Connecticut but rabbit in Kentucky is relatively common. I've seen it in some grocery stores but I don't think they always carry it.

Eating rabbit is great. I'd be down for eating some horsey.

this is strange. rabbit is a pretty common meat where i come from. maybe it's a german thing or a rural thing but i never realised that it was special or anything. i'm obviously talking about domestic rabbits.

horse meat is still somewhat exotic around here, but easily available.

eating dog is a crime in germany.

None of those are normal where I live exactly-- I'm sure people would pitch a fit if they were widely available to purchase/consume, even though this is supposed to be some great culturally diverse and accepting community (yeah right). But if I travelled down to the bay area I could see some of those on display in Oakland at the Asian markets and whatnot.
