Watch Billy sue your ass. If losing his Paris photos brought out the lawsuit, you can bet layering guitars OVER his will

Spguitar - my only suggestion; the trebly chorus guitars that go with the crash woulda been nice to accent a little, but i think you kinda eclipsed them. I dug your vibrato in the bridge.

maybe if you found a really good karaoke type vocal limiter so that you don't lose as much of the drums? might help.

but sounds good. i don't like the intro, but that's just me. be great if you could get rid of the elephant noises too, but hey you can't do miracles.

and i can't remember properly as i've deleted zeitgeist off my PC long ago, but have you added more of a slide to the Ab in the chorus? or is that on the CD version too?

I could try a limiter but it might make everything very dull. :(
Sucks not having individual tracks like NIN did with Only.
The slide's there but it was buried a bit.

I know a few EQ tricks that help. I set up an amp model on the pod that blended with the Diezel pretty well also but the base sound was eq'd in cool edit.

yo.

drums disappear, sounds like the mix on jellybelly now. all i get is washy hats, and this tiny little tok in the background.

BJ, probably a bit too much gain, not enough tops in your tone to work for me... like in the bridge i can hear your chugs sustain past BC's. If the intent truly is just to 'fix the mix' then this is a problem, if not, then it's fine.

Could I hear a clip of those guitars on their own?

brendo_91
10-03-2007, 12:03 AM
Oh - also, your guitars are a bit *too* loud in the mix, I'd say. Back them off a couple dB.

Also in Starz, make sure you get the harmony lead in there.

I think you've done a good job (on Starz at least.. I can't hear the others because the links passed away... :( ) and it's cool that you're trying to make it sound better.

"constructive criticism"
But I think you're time (and skill) would be better spent recording your own songs and making them better than the Smashing Pumpkins, rather than laying tracks over their stuff.

Do you have any of your own material? You can PM me. I'd love to hear it. :)

Ok.

I'm not going to say it sounds any better, because I like the way it sounds the way it is just fine.

But it doesn't really sound worse either. The guitars are louder. And when compared with the original, it "fills the headphones" better.

But if you listen to the album on anything nicer than shitty earbud or ipod headphones (like a car stereo or decent set up computer speakers), it sounds fine. When I listen to yours on my system at home, I don't like it as much.

In conclusion: you should call this "Doomsday Clock: Earbud Edition".

Also: you named the file "Smashing Pumpkins - Doomsday Clock (Burn The Lies remix).mp3"????

Burn The Lies... really?
Remix?

Some misnomers. :) It's "Smashing Pumpkins - Doomsday Clock (Earbud Edition).mp3" now and that's that.
