'cause the last 2 nights I have woke up having a coughing fit...I'm pretty sure I quit breathing both nights. I'm aware that I probably have sleep apnea, but apparently it's getting pretty bad :(

Has Kiley ever said anything about how you sleep?

that or just start exercising and stuff so your airways are all used to breathing

Athletic people get sleep apnea, too, bonnie.

Tobes, I meant has she ever noticed labored breathing, shallow breathing, etc etc? Anything abnormal that isn't snoring?

Sorry toby. It's just that it's the most common reason for sleep apnea

get the surgery. it's awsome and you don't have to try and seduce your woman wearing the darth vader mask.

She's never mentioned anything to me, so I don't know.

Going to a sleep clinic would suck, I would be all paranoid and not go to sleep. I have enough trouble falling asleep as is...sorry about that.

Do you get headaches a lot?

Well, do you feel you're not getting a full night's sleep, even if you get 7-8 hours? Do you drink or smoke or anything before going to bed that might not be helping in getting a full nights rest? How often do you wake up gasping for air?

No matter how much sleep I get, I never feel like its enough. I'm always tired.

As for waking up gasping for air those 2 events recently were the first.

I guess it couldn't hurt, then. Sleep clinics (nice ones, anyway) are getting more comfortable for the patients these days. The one my friend works at just opened and their rooms look like hotel rooms, with all the similar amenities.

It may come down to the need to just get in better shape, but it could be physiological, too. wally ended up having surgery, which helped him, but I will stress that that is not for everyone. Depending on what type of procedure, many people who have a surgery have no change, or possibly worse symptoms or complications. Surgery is a last resort if the normal therapies are not working.

But that's getting way ahead...

If you truly suspect you have OSA, then get in sooner than later and get it diagnosed. There is new shit coming out all the time, and CPAP therapy is getting more comfortable and manageable. In the 4+ years I've been here, CPAP machines themselves have shrunk by over 1/2 the size they were, and the masks and nasal pillows have become far more advanced. That doesn't necessarily mean they all will work for you- you'd have to find one that works, and it might not be the most fashionable or cheapest product.

Should I see a physcian first?

Yeah. I'm not totally sure how it works (I don't work directly with patients), but I am fairly certain you have to be referred there. It may be as easy as seeing your doctor and just saying you think you have OSA and he/she'll write your ticket in.
