True. Too bad it's heartless but beyond that, "Stellar" is the perfect fusion of Machina-era and Adore-era SP. :smoke:

I don't think it's a word but "anti-emotion" comes to mind when think of "Stellar". :D

I think you could make a case for Stellar being one of the few Zeitgeist songs with emotion.

I dont think machina and adore can fusion without the adore sound being soiled. I understand where you are coming from. Its like machina tone in adore style.

It has emotion but it's not engaging like most of Billy's songs. The emotion irritates me which is why I say it's "anti-emotion." The emotion is a put off rather than a plus. Billy is slipping in many ways.

Not true, have you heard zeitgeist zeitgeist?

This is what I was thinking too. It seems like the most natural progression from older work.

Machina>TFE>Stellar makes sense in my mind.

Seems like a fair estimation of Zeitgeist era pumpkins to me.

i am not sure how to vote yet because i have not listen to stellar since the 1st week it came out.
but as i listen to it now i am not sure what era you could compair it to. it sounds very machina II to me. like unfinished in a way. but the intro i guess that can seem kind of adore like.

*shrug*

Stellar has nothing to do with anything "Adore" - Its a perfect mashup of a TFE song played by Pumpkins.

Yeah, Stellar is definately heavily utilizing the TFE sound. Neverlost is the other track that does this excessively so.

Stellar is unquestionably my favorite zeitgeist-era track.
And ya, as exactlythesame said...there's a strong TFE background, but with so many elements that remind me of SP's backcatalogue. It somehow reminds me of Home and Shame.

And heartless/anti-emotional? Barely...

Stellar just kind of sounds exactly if you'd mix the youthful enthusiasm of The Marked with the happyness of Zwan, added a bit of Starchildren experiment, a little bit TFE gayness and the redundancy of SP2. With a little Last Hard Men flavour to it, of course.

No SP1 in the recipe? I think it's one of the most SP1ish songs in the Z-era.

I loved this at first, but now when I hear it it sounds slightly 'dead' as in Corgan hasn't invested himself in the song or something.

I just realised the other day this song has no vocal layering.

maybee thats why it's not on the album.

It sounds nothing like Adore. It sounds even less like TFE. If Stellar is a fusion of anything, its one part Machina era and nine parts Zeitgeist era.

that guitar tone is straight out of TFE, complete with chorus, echo, and flanger

i thought the perfect fusion of machina style and adore style was
raindrops + sunshowers...

stellar sounds more like the future embrace/pumpkins to me... but surprisingly is a good song

"True" is winning! Why aren't the Stellar-truthers posting? :D

This song should have been on the album.

Definitely one of the best from this era, even though it does suffer from terribly strained sounding Billy vox.

TRUE. Stellar is the only really Smashing Pumpkins of Zeitgeist. I mean those Smashings eveyone us love... you know.

Agreed. It's my favourite b-side from Zeitgeist, though.
