i just got it off fark.

its funny how in the pictures everyone is still wearing period clothing and how things that were popular at the time (ie fascination with science, flying machines) were just added to random things (ie cops, school children). In another 100 years, do you think we'll finally have those flying cars? Due to the rapidly increasing speed in which technology is becoming integrated in our lives, i think in another 100 years (if we make it that far) will be totally unimaginable at this time.

i thought the opposite. i was pretty surprised at how unimaginative they were with this shit. its hard to get into their shoes and imagine what itd be like 100 years on, but, dammit, why are the clothes still the same, why is everything seemingly made out of leather, wood, and steel still? i think theyre really awful predictions, and not only because theyre false, theyre just immensely shortsighted and shallow.

i mean look at this
http://bp3.blogger.com/_sGYULzoQCgA/RuSSRaUYz8I/AAAAAAAABC4/WiaKbdhqWRE/s400/At+the+School.jpg
how fucking stupid do you have to be to think that some machine could absorb books like that and wire it into someones brain? the machine is technologically advanced enough to do that, but not advanced enough to function without some slave child manually turning a crank.

i thought the opposite. i was pretty surprised at how unimaginative they were with this shit.It makes more sense than moon men playing moon football on the moon or whatever people were predicting in the 50s. Sides the unimaginative thing is what makes it more realistic.

i think the fact that they were unimaginative to you, sleeper, doesn't really matter a lick. A zeppelin ship is totally rad, You don't have to analyze everything

I dunno then I guess what I'm trying to say is this envisioned year 2000 could've worked in the seventies save for that the world took a different direction whereas later envisioments of the year 2000 definitely cannot and do not work. Space and space colonies aren't happening any time soon.

Small two men aircraft about the size of a small vehicle can be made, I'd think. Perhaps of a helicopter like design.

my own speculations:

i see the whole cyborg thing happening, although not with such dystopian consequences. i think its just rational to boost out potential any way we can, and the technology doesnt seem that far off.

electricity will be transmitted wireless

personal computers will kind of be replaced by input/output devices only: youll have speakers and a keyboard and a monitor. the internet will become incredible fast and companies will come up that basically run a computer for you that you access live on the internet as if it was your computer next to you. through economies of scale they will offer enormous storage space and incredible graphics and there will be common programs to all users and shared this and that. cellphones will be as powerful as a supercomputer through such a thing.

basically everything will become recyclable. waste will be a marginal thing

it's wrong, by definition. if you consider "natural" to mean "produced by nature" / "ultimately coming from nature" then both are equally natural because humans are natural and thus their actions are.

however then the word natural wouldn't be meaningful anymore as it could be applied to anything. so most of the time natural just means the opposite of artificial/anthropogenic.

as both genetic enhancements and cyborgs have anthropogenic origins, they are, again, equally natural. that is, not at all.

i'm just thinking out loud.
