First off I would like to thank the people from the Pumpkins management for hooking me up with some VIP passes for Virgin Fest yesterday. Everything was more then I was expecting, even just picking up the tickets and wrist bands you come to a special area with an open bar, food, pool table, xbox, etc. It was nice, I managed to get some pre-drinking in there.

Once I had a few beers and had my tickets sorted out I hoped on the VIP ferry over to the island. I spent most of the time in the VIP Louder Lounge, that was the area to the left of the stage. You needed either a Red or Black wrist band (I actually had both) to get in there.

While in there I was communicating back and forth with Doug the Pumpkins touring manager. He arranged for my fiancé and I to go backstage where Billy and company where hanging out during the Killers set. The backstage area was kind of neat, they had a bon fire going on back there, tons of booze bottles all over the place and there was small trailers for all the groups back there. The Pumpkins had a super exclusive area at the back with even more security.

We were escorted past all that until we were standing right in front of Billy's trailer. Its sort of a surreal thing to walk in and there is Billy and Jimmy staring right back at you. This was the first time in all the years I actually got a chance to meet him, we all shook hands and said Hello's. They were all just chilling getting mentally ready for their set, they were all relaxed but looked to be pretty tired.

Too be honest once I met him I wasn't even sure what to say to him, we started talking about some web stuff, Netphoria as well as the Official site. Billy pretty much confirmed there will never ever be an O-board again, there is just too much negativity for his liking and Netphoria already has that covered.

I wanted to get a picture with Billy before I left but he wasn't into it saying he doesn't do pictures before a show or something like that and I wasn't going to push it. So here is one I made instead:

The Killers were finishing up so we had to leave as they needed to get dressed and get ready so we headed back to the stage area and watched the show.

Overall I got the impression that he is cool with Netphoria even if he doesn't really want to admit it. I'm glad he actually allowed me to pop in and say hello and chat for a few minutes, given the history of the site that says a lot.

I would have pressed him on about the 'negativity' thing probably beacuse I'm a dick. Seems very sensitive to criticism. But thats pretty cool that Netphoria's creator finally came face to face with the man himself. I'm very curious how familiar he is with netphoria seeing as he appears to be cognizant of the essence of this place.

i bet my mom threw away that pic though... along with my jr. prom pics. because i went to college and they had to turn my bedroom into a den or something lame like that. she also threw away my fossil collection. yes, i collected fossils.

While I generally agree with what you say Corgan_Rules, I think Skipgo is the wrong person to blame. I think she's a true fan and I remember her as a fair poster, but sometimes it's tempting to go with the flow to avoid getting floated with negativity.
