Thanks Rob TheJoker 09-09-2007, 02:50 AM how long is the set supposed to be? Diss N. Chanted 09-09-2007, 07:01 PM how long is the set supposed to be?3 hours! redbull 09-09-2007, 07:02 PM at a festival? I doubt it... Diss N. Chanted 09-09-2007, 07:50 PM at a festival? I doubt it...I was joking. redbull 09-09-2007, 07:53 PM touche, touche Cowboy Dan 09-21-2007, 10:51 AM Any suggestions on where the best/cheapest place to park is? onegaylaserbeam 09-21-2007, 11:43 AM Any suggestions on where the best/cheapest place to park is? i would park on the north end of downtown just off of 1st Ave N somewhere in Belltown area and hop on the 15,18,21 or 56 bus that go directly south down 1st Ave right passed were the show is. MisterSquishyHalo 09-21-2007, 11:55 AM Any suggestions on where the best/cheapest place to park is? If you can swing it, I would try public transit. MisterSquishyHalo 09-21-2007, 12:11 PM Also they are only scheduled to play for a hour..which is kind of weak. Cowboy Dan 09-21-2007, 12:41 PM i would park on the north end of downtown just off of 1st Ave N somewhere in Belltown area and hop on the 15,18,21 or 56 bus that go directly south down 1st Ave right passed were the show is. Sounds like a plan, public transport is free in the downtown still right? Are there parking garages in Belltown or is it an area where you can park on the street? If you can swing it, I would try public transit. Under normal circumstances I would, but we're driving down from Vancouver, so we need to dump the car somewhere. Also they are only scheduled to play for a hour..which is kind of weak. That is weak, I was told it would be at least 2 hours. Seeing them again in Vancouver on the Monday, which isn't a festival show, so I'm expecting more from them then in terms of length and set list. The non festival shows have def been better. Endfest Main Stage 9pm: Smashing Pumpkins 7:30pm: Social Distortion 6:20pm: Bright Eyes 5pm: Satellite Party 4pm: Hot Hot Heat Now that I see the times, I have no idea why we're planning on leaving so early. We're not really going for anyone else. MisterSquishyHalo 09-21-2007, 01:00 PM Who told you it was going to be 2 hours? I was hoping for 90 minutes. Cowboy Dan 09-21-2007, 01:09 PM I'm sure I read it here, when it was first announced. Festival is supposed to end at 10pm, so if they're on at 9pm I guess you're right... Still it's been 7 years since the last time, better than nothing. onegaylaserbeam 09-21-2007, 03:08 PM if you are just going to see the mighty sp then just park in any pay lot or garage downtown that is near 1st ave and hop on any bus headed south to the stadium area. unfortunately the ride free zone ends before you get to the stadiums but it gets you close and hell it's only $1.25 any how Belltown is what i would suggest if you are going for the entire day or if you want to be somewhat adventurous then u could street park for free in lower Queen Anne(near the space needle) and take the same bus routes south 15min on 1st Ave and only pay $1.25 there and back. Those routes pick up all along Mercer Ave and head straight to were you need to go and you would have free street parking for the day. onegaylaserbeam 09-21-2007, 03:14 PM 2nd Ave W or 3rd Ave W or 4th Ave W just off of the Mercer are great free street parking spots and there is a bus stop @ 3rd and Mercer that either the 15 or 18 bus would get you straight there. Those routes run like every 15min up thru 9pm then they go every 30min. Google map that shit and you are set. JRiordan 09-21-2007, 03:47 PM I wanna return to Seattle for this! Disarm was the only thing that kind of saved it for me. I got jimmy's drumstick at the end..so that was pretty cool Ridgefield was better. Bright eyes was decent on the bill, and saw satelitte party again. Social D was cool, because I've never seen them MonkeyMan 09-23-2007, 03:26 AM see username 'Sup, troll? They started to leave the stage but after Billy talked to a guy at the side of the stage he turned around and said "Oh, I thought we were out of time...but I guess we can do one more. Wasn't a fan of the new HMM at the start, but the end was decent. Bit long for a 1 hour show, they could have swapped out HMM for 3 other songs. Still worth it. Teej212 09-23-2007, 07:20 AM do you like modest mouse cowboy dan or is it just a coincidence? that doesnt sound like a great show. i wish they didnt play such long songs at festivals Reyngel 09-23-2007, 09:54 AM Setlist seems so... bland. I was going to go to the show by finding some last-minute tickets, but decided against it. I'm kind of glad I didn't spend the money or effort. Ridgefield definitely sounded like a better show. So, after Billy asked the crowd if they wanted them to play one more, did they? Or was that just Today? TheJoker 09-23-2007, 11:09 AM yeah, that's when they went into today. ptrdln 09-23-2007, 11:52 AM i think they played really well. sound was pretty decent for a parking lot, but a little muddy at times. it was a million times better than the machina tour or the future embrace tour. thanks to always reading this board and watching the videos on youtube i was left without any surprises (except, maybe disarm). it is a bummer that they play long jams like hmm at festivals....but that is kinda how the pumpkins have always been, really. and for all the complaining about the similar setlists at these shows....were any of the tours all that different? the mcis weren't all that different from night to night....we just weren't here to complain about it every night. Cowboy Dan 09-23-2007, 12:46 PM Here's about 2 mins of the jam at the end of HMM: http://www.sendspace.com/file/iv5sle I should have taken more video, most of my photos came out shit. I kept looking back at the red brick building across the street from the main stage, with the people watching from the windows and thinking I hope someone set a tripod up there somewhere, they would have had a great view of the stage. smashapumpkin 09-23-2007, 01:17 PM the setlist is very similar to the LA setlist davin 09-23-2007, 01:23 PM the setlist is very similar to the LA setlist sorta. ptrdln 09-23-2007, 01:37 PM the setlist is very similar to the LA setlist yeah, it kinda made me wish i hadn't watched the webcast. except for disarm, i felt like i was watching that show. i guess that is the price we pay for such quick access to information and video/audio to the concerts. MisterSquishyHalo 09-23-2007, 02:07 PM While I liked the setlist at ridgefield, Endfest to me felt like it had more energy. I guess I just do not like 100% reserved seating at pumpkin shows. davin 09-23-2007, 02:58 PM I guess I just do not like 100% reserved seating at pumpkin shows. yea thats what sux about the upcoming show in Normal. I personally have two GA shows right after, but since i'm going with 7 local friends who all saw them with me back in the day I was really hoping for the GA energy level at Normal. beef curtains 09-23-2007, 03:08 PM I thought it was pretty good except for Heavy Metal Machine. When a whole moshing crowd is standing still while you're wailing on the guitar, its a good indication that people have no clue what the fuck you're doing. The crowd wasn't as rough as some of the other SP pits I've been in. Billy can shred though! I was impressed. Got one of Ginger's bass pics at the end of the show. Saw you Otto while buying water from a street vendor. I should have said Hi... beef curtains 09-23-2007, 03:09 PM And Sattelite Party was definitely the highlight of the whole festival. I hadn't seen Perry live before, he's so fun on stage RopeyLopey 09-23-2007, 03:10 PM And Sattelite Party was definitely the highlight of the whole festival. Some of us crusty dinosaurs want to hear old album tracks. beef curtains 09-23-2007, 03:15 PM what did they play? Sadly, I'm not really sure other than the usual old Jane's Addiction stuff. We showed up right at the beginning of their set so I'm sure we missed a couple songs. I hadn't heard any of their songs as the current incarnation but they did do Been Caught Stealing, Just Because, Tahitian Moon, Mountain Song, and they ended with Jane Says. He stole his belt while in Canada.... he also stole a hat in Pittsburg. Makes for a great segway into playing his songs, actually being a klepto... MisterSquishyHalo 09-23-2007, 03:56 PM oh Tahitian Moon. was it alright or did it feel wrong? It felt okay. They played One satelitte party song I think. They got big audience pops for all of their Jane's and Porno songs. MisterSquishyHalo 09-23-2007, 03:57 PM Saw you Otto while buying water from a street vendor. I should have said Hi... Hey! Yeah all the vendors inside the venue we're shut down..so that was the only place to get water. I was right in the middle between jeff and billy, so I'm a little sore right now hah. beef curtains 09-23-2007, 04:39 PM I was about 20 people back nearest Ginger, and the mosh pit kept getting closer and closer to me... didn't feel like getting pummeled... I snuck up front the last couple songs to either get a pic or a drumstick or something... My husband almost got one of the sticks, he was probably fighting you for one LOL MisterSquishyHalo 09-23-2007, 05:04 PM I was about 20 people back nearest Ginger, and the mosh pit kept getting closer and closer to me... didn't feel like getting pummeled... I guess I just do not like 100% reserved seating at pumpkin shows. I agree, and then I disagree. GA seems to give Pumpkins shows a better crowd vibe, true, but it's also nice to have the opportunity once in a while to just sit back and watch the show while chilling. Their shows are so deep... the lights, the solos, the dynamics... it's really nice to just soak it all in from a distance, too. Almost every Pumpkins show I've ever been to had be standing in GA. It was was nice, for a change, to just kick back and enjoy it all. DiscoJon 09-23-2007, 05:30 PM Did anyone tape? How was the crowd? It's usually bad for SP here in Seattle. MisterSquishyHalo 09-23-2007, 05:31 PM Oh you will find no disagreeing there. Ridgefield was definately much more enjoyable and relaxing. Verboten 09-23-2007, 05:40 PM The setlist was alright..but if you only have a 60 minute show..do you really need to have US and Superchrist? Disarm was the only thing that kind of saved it for me. besides HMM and drown, superchrist and US were the best songs played last night, and the most rocking. maybe you were caught up with 98% of the rest of the crowd who were rocking out to bullet, and then standing around having on and off conversations for the rest of the set. in these times, it's not cool to rock out to any songs that don't get played on the radio. and nearly the entire audience in seattle looked like depressed high school dropouts. i guess that's been the "style" up there since cobain. fuck seattle. Right, because I want a few more songs instead of 2 long jam sessions in a 60 minute show? Give me a fucking break. I would have LOVED if they played some deep cuts. ptrdln 09-23-2007, 10:04 PM besides HMM and drown, superchrist and US were the best songs played last night, and the most rocking. maybe you were caught up with 98% of the rest of the crowd who were rocking out to bullet, and then standing around having on and off conversations for the rest of the set. in these times, it's not cool to rock out to any songs that don't get played on the radio. and nearly the entire audience in seattle looked like depressed high school dropouts. i guess that's been the "style" up there since cobain. fuck seattle. shut up. Look for it on archive.org tomorrow night as long as I don't get lazy about it. :p The crowd was good...they seemed excited for SP...cheered whenever the band named was mentioned. There were so many high school-ish age emo kids though...made me feel old. JRiordan 09-24-2007, 12:47 AM Yup. Look for it on archive.org tomorrow night as long as I don't get lazy about it. :p Hey thanks for the taping effort SomaPhreak 09-24-2007, 01:45 AM It was an intense, energetic performance. Billy really had the scream and guitar working. United States was vicious, and the Star Spangled Banner addition sounded great. Tarantula rocked like it was 93. Drown, Today, Disarm, and Tonight Tonight were special to hear again. Superchrist and HMM had their moments (here's 20 straight minutes of Pastachio Medley-style jamming - you're bound to like something) but to have them both in a one hour set along with United States was unfortunate. Songs like Zero and Cherub Rock would have made it a better show. Overall, A for performance and B for setlist. DiscoJon 09-24-2007, 05:52 AM Yup. Thanks man, I would have went, but I got out of work at about 8 and spending 40 bucks to see SP2 for 60 minutes downtown just didn't seem worth all the trouble. Hope you had a good time. |
