I've been curious about this for a while now, after the repeated mentioning of them on this board. But I kind of just figured they were some terrible band that everyone likes to mock. I've been curious about this for a while now, after the repeated mentioning of them on this board. But I kind of just figured they were some terrible band that everyone likes to mock. you're thinking of the smashing pumpkins :p . wHATcOLOR 09-06-2007, 01:47 AM phew, it's a .rar, and i don't know how to open that on this stupid mac. i'm safe for the time being celluloid_love 09-06-2007, 02:06 AM hey dude macs arent stupid wHATcOLOR 09-06-2007, 02:15 AM i don't like my mac celluloid_love 09-06-2007, 02:27 AM this new two gallants album sounds great ona mac wHATcOLOR 09-06-2007, 02:37 AM how dare you celluloid_love 09-06-2007, 02:54 AM *takes off shirt wHATcOLOR 09-06-2007, 03:08 AM *kicks cowboy boots up on the table, crossing legs wHATcOLOR 09-14-2007, 07:27 PM the preorder came in the mail today, sweet. this album's a little tough for me to get super excited about because there were only 3 songs that hadn't been performed live before. The Deader has been played for a little while, known as "So Far Away" Miss Meri was completely new The Hand That Held Me Down has been played live since last year The Trembling Of The Rose has been played live for over a year Reflections of the Marionette has been played live for several years Ribbons Round My Tongue has been played for a little while, known as "Emo Country Song" Despite What You've Been Told was completely new Flow Low Carrion Crow was completely new My Baby's Gone has been played live for several years Little Liza Jane (pre-order bonus download) has been played live for a little while, usually tacked on to the end of Steady Rollin' its no coincidence I'm enjoying the songs I've never heard before the most. i kind of wish i hadn't heard Reflections or The Hand That Held Me Down or The Trembling Of The Rose before, because I think i'd be blown away by the album in that case I really like the album overall, Fly Low Carrion Crow is probably my favorite right now. It would be Despite What You've Been Told, had they not made that song available for download about a month ago Gossamer 09-16-2007, 08:40 PM I really like The Deader but I'm pretty meh about the rest of it. Listening for the first time... wHATcOLOR 09-22-2007, 04:18 AM fuck yeah!!! hope you like it dudehitscar 09-22-2007, 11:52 AM well i've listened to it about 3 times... it's really good. I miss the energy from What the toll tells but the songs are all incredible anyway. I can't wait to know these lyrics inside and out. he's such an amazing songwriter. wHATcOLOR 09-24-2007, 02:48 AM yeah i'm with you. my 3 gripes: some of the songs lack the intensity of their live versions, no epics like previous albums, my own fault for listening to too many of the songs before hearing the album. i really like it, i'm liking it more iwht each listen, and i agree with you, the songwriting is the best part celluloid_love 09-24-2007, 03:05 AM i love albuums where the songwriting is the best part. for some reason those are the best wHATcOLOR 09-24-2007, 03:05 AM you're a real smartass, you know that son celluloid_love 09-24-2007, 03:15 AM well i suppose i'd better apologise then, otherwise i might end up like Ever but if i may ask...i never understood your internet handle, i get the rEVERSE cAPITALISATION thing is a two gallants motif, but where does 'whatcolor' come from? wHATcOLOR 09-24-2007, 12:16 PM there's not much behind it, i just wanted something vague Rockin' Cherub 09-24-2007, 01:34 PM isnt it a big white horse hung reference Rockin' Cherub 09-24-2007, 01:35 PM like WHAT COLOUR OF BIG HORSE HUNG IS BEST remember those wHATcOLOR 09-24-2007, 04:32 PM oh yeah.. i do remember those, i miss having that kind of energy. i didn't purposefully make my name to recall those polls, but i guess i can't rule out the possibility that they might've been part of the equation subconsciously wHATcOLOR 09-25-2007, 10:45 PM RopeyLopey 09-26-2007, 01:15 PM i kind of wish i hadn't heard Reflections or The Hand That Held Me Down or The Trembling Of The Rose before, because I think i'd be blown away by the album in that case I really like the album overall, Fly Low Carrion Crow is probably my favorite right now. I was surely blown by The Hand song, and Fly Low Carrion Crow is my favourite, too - I was just praying he would not come in with drums to destroy it. Has anyone ever taken a picture with them? Are they OK with that? wHATcOLOR 09-28-2007, 01:40 PM i'm not really sure. i know i've read about their willingness to chat with fans after the shows, and in general they seem pretty appreciative of support and receptive to acknowledging fans. RopeyLopey 09-28-2007, 01:45 PM i'm not really sure. i know i've read about their willingness to chat with fans after the shows, and in general they seem pretty appreciative of support and receptive to acknowledging fans.I am so pumped for Monday! Have you ever talked to them? shannon 09-28-2007, 01:46 PM i should have my tickets today or tomorrow... and i'm going with my sister! woo hoo! wHATcOLOR 09-28-2007, 05:34 PM I am so pumped for Monday! Have you ever talked to them? just once. i went to this weird fundraiser held at some warehouse near the docks in oakland, it was for prisoners who wanted to learn art. the 2Gs agreed to play a few songs for it, and the rest of the bands were like these shitty highschool bands. so we were leaving after we learned how bad the other bands were and i saw adam and tyson packing up their van. i went over to say that it was a really enjoyable show and to tell him how much i like/appreciate the music. it was pretty awesome, he said thanks, and we chatted for a little bit. i remember he asked me what my name was, i thought that was nice. i left pretty quickly, i felt like i was going to say something dumb. i should have just relaxed more. i just got my tickets to their shows here in late october, im pumped RopeyLopey 09-28-2007, 06:17 PM Do they sell the stuff themselves? wHATcOLOR 09-28-2007, 06:22 PM it's a bit different in sf because they're always catching up with longtime friends and stuff i think. i've read that fans talk to them after shows and stuff so i'm guessing they might neopryn 09-28-2007, 07:57 PM i just want to say i fully intend to buy this album and give my opinion on it but i have a strict CD budget and haven't been able to fit it in RopeyLopey 10-01-2007, 07:53 PM Well that was a bummer :(, The doors were at 8, I was right there to invite them for a beer and chat with the chaps before they go on stage and the first thing I see is a sign 'Two Gallants are not playing tonight'. Apparently their car broke down and they could not make it. They said they might arrange another show and they will let me know. I was so pumped - this hurts. wHATcOLOR 10-01-2007, 07:54 PM ugh, that really sucks. how disappointing. that stinks man :( wHATcOLOR 10-01-2007, 07:55 PM i hope you guys with your mediafire links are happy!!! RopeyLopey 10-01-2007, 07:56 PM ugh, that really sucks. how disappointing. that stinks man :(the girl at the door told me it looks more likely I will get a refund. I want no refund, I want 2GS. Well at least I have more time to get familiar with the lyrics from the new album, so I am in the top form when they come next time around. wHATcOLOR 10-01-2007, 08:04 PM ther's always the two shows in sf in late october!! *waggles eyebrows* wHATcOLOR 10-14-2007, 12:17 PM they did another daytrotter session lately: http://www.daytrotter.com/daytrotterSessions/1027/free-songs-two-gallants-encore dudehitscar 10-14-2007, 06:44 PM Trembling of the rose is much better on piano.. Finally makes the song stand out. wHATcOLOR 10-14-2007, 07:50 PM i can never really get into that song sppunk 10-14-2007, 07:59 PM I've never listened to a single thing by these clowns. What should I start with? dudehitscar 10-14-2007, 08:19 PM I've never listened to a single thing by these clowns. What should I start with? I recommend steady rollin and nothing to you. If you dig those songs then you will be a fan. If not look elswhere. Travis Meeks 10-25-2007, 08:07 PM It took me a while to get into this but I am once again fully addicted to another Two Gallants CD. The maturity they show on this album is outstanding and Adam has grown up and become a great song writer (although what bitch pissed him off to make it such a 'breakup CD?'). As much as I like this (and Scenery of Farewell) I like What the Tolls Tell a bit more because of the two epics (Waves of grain and age of assassins). They should have made My Baby's Gone into an epic jam but it seems like they held back. Good stuff though. and I'm pissed I missed them when they were in NYC last week. Stupid work. wHATcOLOR 10-27-2007, 02:57 AM tonight's show was awesome. they played waves of grain. i love that one. they played for like a hour and a half almost, that's pretty long for them. adam's mom was standing near me towards the end of the show. they're playing another one tomorrow! dudehitscar 10-27-2007, 09:25 AM tonight's show was awesome. they played waves of grain. i love that one. they played for like a hour and a half almost, that's pretty long for them. adam's mom was standing near me towards the end of the show. they're playing another one tomorrow! I long to see waves of grain. wHATcOLOR 10-27-2007, 03:54 PM here's the setlist as best as i can remember it, i'm sure some songs are out of order two days short tomorrow the deader requiem for japan town bowl long summer day seems like home to me steady rollin' damnatio memoriae las cruces jail drive my car despite what you've been told waves of grain encore: some cover i should have recognied i think? nothing to you i hope you get to see waves of grain next time you see 'em! mistle 10-27-2007, 03:58 PM hm. earlier today i listened to it and liked it, but now i don't really the carrion crow song is still cool though redbull 10-27-2007, 04:05 PM hey have you guys heard of the beauty shop they remind me of 2G wHATcOLOR 10-28-2007, 03:30 AM highlights of tonight's show: threnody my madonna fly low, carrion crow here's what i can remember from the setlist: instrumental reflections of the marionette liza jane requiem for japan town bowl long summer day seems like home to me steady rollin' threnody drive my car despite what you've been told my madonna las cruces jail encore: same song from the night before, sounds like he's saying crow jane someday you've got to die.. something like that fly low carrion crow nothing to you wHATcOLOR 10-31-2007, 12:35 AM and I'm pissed I missed them when they were in NYC last week. Stupid work. is this the show? http://www.baeblemusic.com/download.aspx?vID=122 oh cool, waves of grain was at this show.. there's little arrows you can scroll down to see more songs Mo 11-02-2007, 12:53 AM Did/do they ever play The Throes live? Travis Meeks 11-02-2007, 04:59 PM is this the show? http://www.baeblemusic.com/download.aspx?vID=122 oh cool, waves of grain was at this show.. there's little arrows you can scroll down to see more songs Thanks man, good find! but I am now super pissed that I didn't go, great setlist :( Travis Meeks 11-02-2007, 05:00 PM hey Jerome, are the crowds getting larger compared to last year? shannon 11-02-2007, 05:19 PM when i went to see them a month ago, there was maybe 40 people in the room :/ good show though wHATcOLOR 11-04-2007, 09:25 PM hey Jerome, are the crowds getting larger compared to last year? its hard for me to say, because it's always been full when i see them. that depresses me to hear they only draw 40 people in other cities. i wonder if it's any better in europe their touring schedule is always brutal. in november, they only have 4 days where they're not playing shows. and one day has two shows. wHATcOLOR 11-04-2007, 09:26 PM Did/do they ever play The Throes live? i've never seen it, and i've been to 8 shows now. haven't come across any live recordings of it, but that's not to say it's never been played, they don't have anything nearly as comprehensive as spfc dudehitscar 11-04-2007, 09:27 PM its hard for me to say, because it's always been full when i see them. that depresses me to hear they only draw 40 people in other cities. I've never seen them play to more than 30 people. wHATcOLOR 11-04-2007, 09:31 PM man. i wonder how they keep doing it. depends on the venue they play in sf, but there's a few hundred people sometimes. i've seen clips of videos where it looks like they're playing a tiny show in someone's basement or something, standing on the floor with the audience, and they've said they really like those shows a lot.. MagicPie 11-05-2007, 07:59 AM Last time they played dublin 40 - 50 people showed up,this time round about 250 showed up. Tyler didn't make it for the start of the irish tour, apparently he wrote poetry on his passport and they wouldn't let him through at passport control in america. I wasnt at the Galway gig but it was acoustic and apparently the crowd were cunt bags talking through out. The dublin crowd were full of hipster fucks who acted like dicks GOD aint been more irritated by people in my life. Mofos kept moving up to the front 3/4 way through the gig. If it was due to getting drink i'd understand but no! They play a short set in Cardiff Wales next week,if i can blag a pass or guestlist i'll go otherwise cant do it cos it's part of a festival too dear! They play bristol next sunday which is nearby but cant make it due to last train home being 1040 :( Mo 11-05-2007, 08:16 PM I can't wait for December 6th, I got backstage passes. wHATcOLOR 11-05-2007, 09:50 PM woah awesome!! be sure to tell them we think they are the best!!! wHATcOLOR 11-15-2007, 12:25 AM hey dudehitscar, here's a youtube of the waves of grain performance. there's links to an audience recording of each sf show on their (other) board too. Mo 11-21-2007, 10:43 PM J - I got guestlist tickets for their show in Vienna. What should I expect only knowing [and loving] their albums? wHATcOLOR 11-21-2007, 11:05 PM awesome. each time i've seen them, they mentioned how it was nice to be home finally. so i've got no idea what they're like when they're on the road.. if they're not too different, then it'll be awesome. intense, passionate, skilled. not very much talk on stage at all. i've read fans saying they've been very willing to talk to fans after the shows and stuff. so i'm sure you'll have a great time! :) oh, setlist wise, they've been covering each of the albums lately. the deader and despite what you've been told and the hand that held me down from the new one mostly. older songs have included two days short tomorrow, drive my car, my madonna, nothing to you. from what the toll tells, they've been doing steady rollin, long summer day, las cruces jail.. they've been doing a pretty cool skip james cover.. sets generally aren't very long though, about an hour? every few shows they throw in something off the beaten path it seems, fly low carrion crow they played when i saw them.. waves of grain.. they always do an encore in sf, but i've read that's not always the case on the road. Mo 12-07-2007, 12:16 PM They played 110 minutes last night - and I'm still blown away. It was the single most amazing thing I've seen being performed on stage. They did a ten minute version of Fly Low, Carrion Crow with Tyson on backing acoustic guitar. The crowd went apeshit so many times, and they played Crow Jane and Las Crusces Jail as the encores. Fucking A. wHATcOLOR 12-07-2007, 12:48 PM woah that sounds awesome!! glad you had a great time  :the helicopter: Mo 12-07-2007, 10:36 PM Me too. spidersoma 12-12-2007, 12:26 AM I saw Two Gallants open for Pleasant Grove and Baptist Generals a few years back at the Parish in Austin. There were maybe 30 of us there. The Two Gallants were begging people for a place to crash for the night from the stage. I actually was going to let them but it was a work night and I had to be up at 7am.
