This is one of the only fests with a band lineup (and set lengths) that would justify the price and arriving before the Pumpkins took the stage.

I heard near 100,000 were there last year, so this year's numbers may not be too far off from that. I was a little over 100 feet from the stage when Rage were on, and when I turned around to get a good look at the crowd behind me, I couldn't even see the end of it....So God only knows how many people showed up for them. And there were a lot of people around me talking about being psyched for the Pumpkins, so I imagine it'll be just as big tomorrow night.
Sorry...wish I could give you real numbers.....but I haven't heard any yet. As far as Rage's setlist, I can't remember at the moment exactly everything, but it was mostly hits (no Renegades of Funk though :()

Just got back! I was about 4 or 5 people from the rail, right in between Billy and Jeff. Because of the 2 mosh pits going on around me at the same time, I ended up 10 people from the rail by the end. But I guess I would have been happy anywhere in the crowd since it's my first SP show.
The "Born on the Bayou" addition to HMM was a nice touch. :) The crowd was much more violent than they were for Rage, which I would have expected the exact opposite. From where I was, so close to the rail, BWBW was craaazyyyy. Everyone kept chanting "Zero!" over and over before and after the encore, so I can only imagine how insane the place would have been if they had actually played it. The only thing I would have changed is taking out Glass and the Ghost Children and Pomp & Circumstance, and putting something like Cherub Rock and Zero or Muzzle or something. No one really seemed into those two songs.
Overall, I'd have to say that my first Pumpkins experience was quite a wonderful one. :)

What, were you standing in the back for SP or something? I was about 100 feet or so from the rail for Rage (had to cross 2 pits to get there) and I didn't get shoved around nearly as much as being in the 4th row for the Pumpkins. Especially during Tonight, a whole huge group of us up there almost flat out collapsed more than once from all the tension of the pits around us pushing us down. I've got an Image Stabilization mode on my camera that keeps the video still even with hand shaking, and you can still clearly tell every time someone flat out slams into me during my recording of Hummer. No one could move an inch...if you were rammed into from the pit next to you, then 10 or so people all around you were going down too (and I had a pit right in front of me at the rail and to the right of me).

The Voodoo webcast (http://www.iclips.net/voodoo.php) was down for almost 20 minutes at the start of Wilco's set tonight (8PM CST). They ended up showing the remainder of the Wilco, and after they wre finished, showed the first 4 songs from the set that were missed earlier due to the webcast being down.
Kings of Leon just started webcasting at 10:15PM CST (was supposed to be 9:30-11PM CST). So... whatever "iClips Exclusive" was scheduled from 11PM-1AM is now delayed. Still hoping it's Rage or SP as a surprise.

Hopefully I can get some sleep on Thursday. It sounds decent enough to listen to but not as good as my past recordings. But believe who you want, the majority of those who I talked to post-pumpkins were disappointed. No Zero, no muzzle, no Cherub Rock. Why? Why couldn't they have played just one more fan favorite to pick up the pace. GATGC was alright, but it toally sucked the life out of the crowd because no one ever listens to track 11 on Machina.

Well the hour before RATM the whole crowd wouldnt stop pushing, and all of us up front were being pushed from all sides. Like I was pushed to the right about 30 feet. I was the only girl in my area, and it was a bunch of 20something dudes all around me pushing, and that lead to extreme pain. They just kept on pushing and pushing and the rail was pushing against my ribcage, and I couldnt do anything about it. So I was freaking out trying to breathe, and the photographers were loving me because I was this girl front row at a rage show being killed. This one photographer got pissed that I was crying and in all this pain and no one was helping me, so he told them if I was still like this when rage fucking started, that I had to leave. And finally, I was pushed again and I heard something pop, and I thought I broke my rib cage, so I screamed and the security guards told me I wasnt going to make it through Rage, and to get out. A lot of people liked the show that I talked to, but Rage stole the weekend with their performance. SP had a chance to at least match that performance and at least join the talk, but they chose to play Glass and the Ghost Children again. ENough with this song. Glass and the Ghost Children was amazing and I thought my husband was going to die right then and there from hapiness. If you can't appreciate the beauty of Glass, then you have no clue what real rock music is.
Well... I think you meant well in your comments, but obviously people shouldn't be taking this 100% literally. Anyway, Glass shows another element of what the band is capable of doing, which is awesome. Many people don't "get it" because they aren't used to long jams (or they just don't like it, which is fine for them).
But anyway did you go to the South Carolina show tonight?? Check that show's thread, the reviews were awesome for Glass

i'm looking forward to hearing it if they keep it in the set; i love the long jams, it's one of my favorite things about seeing this band live.

i'll never forget the good old days when i hoped and prayed to get a silverfuck at whatever show i happened to be going to at the time... there were at least two i saw where they didn't play it, i was pretty bummed.
