MonkeyMan 08-10-2007, 08:07 PM phew! glad to hear it Yeah, man. It was pretty ridiculous though. Three tornadoes touched down not too far from me. A grocery store a bit south of me no longer has a roof. WalkingStrayz 08-11-2007, 01:45 AM me spitfireme123 08-11-2007, 09:05 AM philly is gunna be my first Tristessa274 08-12-2007, 09:43 AM 7/5 at the Orange Peel was my first SP show ever, and it was well worth the wait! By October I will have seen them 6 times total (I've already seen them 3 times now and am going to all 3 Boston shows.) ordinary apathy 08-12-2007, 10:14 AM It actually was quite fun to meet a lot of people at the Fillmore who were seeing their first show(s). There was a young girl with her mom in line on 6/27 (I think). It was awesome talking to her. She was the same age as I was when my mom took me to my first SP show, and her enthusiasm was so endearing. She thought everyone in line were the coolest people ever because she'd never met anyone else who loved the band before, and all her friends ragged on her all the time about being a Pumpkins fan. Ginger Sling 08-12-2007, 12:18 PM Me. I was young when they were in their prime. pale blue eyes 08-12-2007, 12:58 PM There was a young girl with her mom in line on 6/27 (I think). Aw, that's a cool story. :) davin 08-12-2007, 01:36 PM my first SP show (and first concert ever) was supposed to be april 10 1992, but that didn't work out because axl rose left town to avoid being arrested and the show was cancelled. at that time i was more interested in GnR, but had a growing interest in SP. so Queensryche & Tesla ended up being my first concert ever , and 08-14-93 @ Metro (3 feet high boot) ended up as my first Pumpkins show. following the fillmore residency, i have reached 20 SP shows. it will be 25 after Reading Festival, Normal, Indiana, Detroit and Dallas. yes i am old....but unfortunately not old enough to have been 21 when they played those doubledoor shows in 1995, nor have a drivers license to check out some of the shows i used to see flyers for at record stores in the burbs (rose records, etc.) :( nuraman00 08-12-2007, 02:07 PM July 20th, at Santa Cruz, was my first. I was very happy that they added another date during the residency (if you want to consider Santa Cruz as part of it), so I could have the chance to get the tickets. skipgo 08-12-2007, 02:13 PM i'm pretty envious of those of you who've seen them so many times (davin, i'm looking in your general direction :) ) this will be the 7th time for me, as I never really had the means to see them as much as I wanted to when i was younger, not to mention they didn't play around here much. I have to drive at least 3 - 6 hours to see them; they've never been closer as far as i'm aware. I haven't seen the band live (not counting billy's solo show) since feb. of 97, the last date of the infinite sadness tour. It's been FAR too long. I wish I'd at least been able to see them touring for adore or machina. I tried to see them when they were touring adore, but it didn't happen for some reason that i don't recall. my first sp show was 8-20-94, lollapalooza, and the first song they played was soma. I'll never forget the way i got goosebumps when i heard those first notes; I can't wait to finally be in the same room with this band again!! (and that's the ONLY time i ever saw jimmy live, so i'm especially excited to see him again!) Sebastian 08-12-2007, 02:33 PM I'm seeing my 12th or so show next week. In your face Fogelsong! ;) ordinary apathy 08-12-2007, 07:48 PM I've seen them six times so far, half of them being pre-revival. It'll be nine after the three shows in Upper Darby. Not bad for being 17 when they broke up back in 2000, I suppose. Incidentally, my first concert ever was KISS. i_adore_adore 08-12-2007, 07:55 PM I was so amazed at the diversity of fans in the line at the Bloomingdale book signing three years ago. There were the 30-year-old business suits at the punks and the "normal" people (that's me), and it was really wonderful. It was my first experience around other SP fans, and only a year after I really got into them, so it was kinda amazing to see how many different people Billy has had an affect on. The girls in front of me were so nice and saved my place in line while I went to buy a book (I already had mine, but you were only guarunteed a meeting with Billy if you bought BwF at that store... turns out he signed books for everyone who showed up, so I wasted another $20). It was just so nice. Sorry, this is rather off topic, but I just thought of it after reading the post about the younger girl seeing her first SP show. That's pretty much how it is with me... it's hard being in school with a bunch of musical idiots, haha. I can't explain why, but it really is amazing to meet so many other fans. davin 08-12-2007, 11:46 PM my first sp show was 8-20-94, lollapalooza, and the first song they played was soma. (and that's the ONLY time i ever saw jimmy live, so i'm especially excited to see him again!) thats awesome skipgo -- they opened with soma when i saw them at lolla '94 as well. i still think its such an awsome opening song, one of the best, because of the way it builds. Soma and Starla (first and last songs) are my most vivid memories of that Lolla show to this day. great moments. billy even told the "darla" story before playing starla for the 2nd encore. looking back i should have went the 2nd day too, and got more siamese dream goodness. but of course that only makes sense in retrospect.....considering i was broke, not even 17 and just going to 1 day of lolla was great enough. jimmy has played at 11 shows i have seen. matt at 6. and kenny at 3. i have seen the original 4 members only 5 times (which seems low, but its true). Brute Squad 08-13-2007, 09:09 AM I'm seeing my 12th or so show next week. In your face Fogelsong! ;) <img width=336 height=500 src=http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j258/fogelsong/sad_face.jpg> davin 08-13-2007, 03:37 PM lol. pepper666 08-14-2007, 03:27 PM June 15th in Nickelsdorf was my first time... TheMilstead 08-14-2007, 11:08 PM This October will be my first time. I'm going with a friend who was in the front row at the last Metro show and a number of other shows. IWishIWasBlank 08-15-2007, 08:26 AM First time for me seeing the Pumpkins. Last time I was at a show, it was Prince's big comeback with Musicology in Minneapolis. Still have the free CD boxed up in the basement. NarcisPrince 08-15-2007, 11:40 AM Me @ Montreal. RenewRevive 08-16-2007, 02:25 AM first time, next friday at the leeds festival. gash 08-16-2007, 03:40 AM shepherds bush , london on the 19/06/07 was my first ever pumpkin's gig, i am ashamed to say.... i am 30 so i should have known better. therefore i am going to see them at glasgow scotland 22/08 and Reading festival 26/08 to attone for my sins.
