Currently, I'm really enjoying the 1996 shows. Especially some of the Silverfucks played around this time.

You really like everyone to know that you knew the band before their first album. That little fact seems to be thrown in every time I see you post.

That being said, I still like pre-Machina better, just because I got to experience so much of it.<font size=1>

Pre-Gish+Gish. I just wish that there were more pictures and videos from that were available to us. This period is really interesting to me. The band was going through a ****morphisis of sorts. There is a completely different feeling (sound) that the band produces between 88'& 89', that they almost sound like a completely different band with the same singer (et al Zwan). The raw, psychadelic feeling of the pre-gish era stays intact thru the gish era..although it is slightly refined. Time to go to bed...with me luck with my hangover. http://www.netphoria.org/wwwboard/wink.gif

1993-6 : excellent shows; primarily gish, SD and MCIS material...and of course they were still the original four.

Favourite - Siamese Dream & Mellon Collie for obvious reasons. Bonus points for Adore tour for sticking to that album. MACHINA era underrated just for the crazy-death-rock-****l-gods-pissed-off-rock-star-poser-vibe the shows had along with a nice sampling of back hits (also the only 2 times I ever saw them). And I always dig the late Gish shows when they whipped out the early Siamese Dream songs. (I don't know the date of the bootleg, but I downloaded a video I'm pretty sure its pre-Siamese Dream. Billy & James are wearing dresses and everybody is stoned, jimmy is smoking and chugging beers during Silverfuck. You can hear the Siamese Dream tunes in their pre-formative stage. I just love it.)

Worst- Pre-Gish. Aside from Spiteface and Jennifer Ever, I think all pre-gish & marked stuff suck. Painful to listen to. To me personally, the true Pumpkins begin with Gish & I Am One.

Yeah, I knew a statement like that wouldn't be too popular 'round here. But, seriously, the way that some people hate MACHINA saying that 'Its not Pumpkins, its just lame' I feel the exact same way about Pre-Gish materiel. I just find it mindless and boring and not the Pumpkins that I listen to. (course, this brings out a whole other debate as to what the Pumpkins style IS but nobody wants to get into that right now). Anyway, it just doesn't seem like Pumpkins, and the music itself is just very dull to me. Sometimes I feel people just say they like it because they want to show their leetness. Well, whatever . . .

The only reason the 2 songs I like are: Jennifer Ever because it has a nice groove to it. And Spiteface because that is the only pre-Gish song that actually DOES sound like the Gish era Pumpkins (cool fast guitar riffs, Jimmy monster drumming). Aside from that, Pre-Gish doesn't do it for me at all.

And, man, don't get me started on The Marked.

I believe it is my duty to officially dismiss this woman's opinion.

Point A: She consistently tries to vote "Soma" off in the silly SD survivor.

Point B: She has the profoud lyrics to "Sparrow" in her signature.

Point C: She has the lyrics to sparrow in her signature and doesnt like the soma.

You make the call.

for me personally, the pre-machina/machina era. 2 concerts, all the news of the shows and such... but if I had to pick an era for me to experience it'd probably be SD or Adore...SD because Billy was so bitter, the band was exploding, and the music scene in general was mind-blowing, and during Adore I think the band was in a really interesting point in their timeline and I would've loved to have seen them live...although I would've missed Jimmy, heh.
