I personally think that secert acoustic gig in berlin so far was the coolest thing that's happend.

Other than that i'd say the 18th at the fillmore but that's probably just because i was thier.

I haven't been to any show but speaking somewhat impartially*, I felt the June 27 Asheville show was the best... at least from what I've heard. Is there any show that tops this? If there is please tell me and I will download it.

*I'm also trying to take in a consideration that the sound quality of a bootleg is not necessary contingent upon the quality of the show.

Yea, it was. It was a great show but it seemed the energy level was even a little higher the night before. I'm not sure what kind of recordings are available, but don't overlook the 26th.

I'm kind of biased, but I want to the the June 30th Asheville show. The PA system went out, so the band just started jamming and playing a ton of teases.

I think the Rock Am Ring show was the best that I saw. Maybe it was the professional production that made it seem better, but they sounded awesome at that show.

I was at the 6/30 Asheville show too, and the tease jam was cool, but I can't really say that I think it was the best.

I'll go with Rock Am Ring because the band sounded good and we could all watch the show online together. Secret gig in Berlin is a close 2nd.

I was at 6/27 with the debuts of Fuck You/TAFH/Rotten Appels... not only was the setlist awesome, the band was ON, and they had no sound problems at all.
Maybe I'm biased, but if this show isn't #1 it's top 3.

Only saw the first four Asheville shows and DC, so I'm unqualified to answer this. But the best of those five was, IMO, 6/27. (I thought 6/26 stunk, personally. The start to the setlist just killed the show for the crowd.)

I was at 6/26 and 27 and DC and DC was when the crowd was dead-est.

The 27th was amazingly high energy and the band was on as everyone said.

I havent listened to many boots, but i really enjoyed the show i was at - Fillmore night 2. The energy seemed great, billy was hilarious, and they played With Every Light

I totally agree with this statement, I was at both of these shows, they were the two, and only two shows I saw in Asheville. Everyone was raving about the 27th show because of the set list, which was definetly better than the night before...TAFH, Ode To No One, and Rotten Apples were played for the first time, not to mention that the show was started with three of the new songs: The Best I Can, If Only In A Dream, and Mama. During the 26th show, the band seemed to have a lot of energy, which was because they were comin' off of their first off day in Asheville.

I still have to give the edge to the 27th show, the 26th had more energy, but all those songs they hit us with on the 27th was a huge surprise. I remember making that "premature ejaculation-type "Oh, ohhh" when TAFH started, I was thinkin' it was just a tease until the full band kicked it, then I just went nuts.

i read all these threads about billy seeming unhappy..and for the first 5 minutes of united states on the 22nd i thought "this is what they mean" but by the end he was smiling, laughin, and the show rocked.

something about HMM made me feel like a little kid...it was a special night

Yep. DC crowds also are dead generally. I have been here for two years and I haven't seen one show with a good crowd. Then I'll go up to Baltimore to see the same artist and the crowd will be great. This town sucks.

I've seen many good shows in DC where the crowds went wild. This year alone: LCD Soundsystem and the Dismemberment Plan reunion.

I have been to four shows. Asheville 6/24 and 7/2, and Fillmore 7/15 and 7/16. The Asheville shows were better, and 7/2 was the best of the two I attended. Whatever thats worth :)

well, and in dc too, but as was mentioned, dc wasn't that great.

Also, 6/27 there was a point near the end of the show where Billy asked them to turn on the lights so he could see the crowd... is this a normal thing Billy does? I listen to to live stuff pretty frequently but not usually whole shows.

It just seemed like when he said it was because he really appreciated the crowd... but again he may have done it often and I just don't know. I have a video if anyone is interested, I didn't tape it just downloaded it, it has like 4 minutes of banter, talking about Geek USA, Bill Clinton, the drum circle, etc. Also BC says he knows he's not funny but it never stops him (something along those lines). Actually, it's pretty good banter. At about 2:20 Billy does the turn the lights on thing and the camera person pans around, you can see the crowd going pretty nuts.
Anyway, just sayin'. If anyone wants this I can up it to mediafire or something.

edit: er, I just opened it to see the quality and it has livepumpkins.net stamped on it, so I'm sure a decent amount of people have seen it.. it's good quality too

I gotta throw in my vote for 6/27. I was there, so I admit that I'm biased. But TAFH and Fuck You, plus the banter and Billy being in such a good mood, made it pretty hard to beat.

I have never heard of it before now, I guess that's why I didn't remember the stamp. I was just assuming anyone who went through the trouble of making the videos and hosting them probably advertised it. Maybe not though. I'm pretty sure I got the videos I have of 6/27 from a torrent though, I have never been to the site... going to check it out... also, it's only 7 songs (plus the banter one), I wish it was the whole concert. I have some hope for the guy who said he shot the whole thing in HD.

Here's the video I was talking about:
http://www.mediafire.com/?b2q1l1d29zn

The have a small but nice collection of video on the site, all from Asheville. The page is kind of annoying, the background is all images that are links to the fullsized ones. Also, I'm only getting about 30kbps downloading from them. Anyway, off topic.

edit: there's been a few posts since I've been uploading, I'm talking about livepumpkins.net

From the shows I went to (9 Asheville, 3 Fillmore, Virgin Festival) I'd have to say that while overall Asheville provided more generally awesome experiences, the next to last night as the Fillmore (July 31) was the best show to me. Everyone's going to have their own opinion of course...

I would have to say from the shows I have heard plus the two I have seen my favorite/best so far was Virginfest on 8-05. The band was in such a good mood and played so well. The crowds reaction was great as well. Much better then the dead crowd at the 9:30 club show.

i guess neither was actually the best show, but paris and the acoustic berlin gig were pretty amazing events to attend, apart from the actual performance quality. it's quite hard to beat the excitement and uniqueness of these shows... and most of that you can't really capture on a bootleg....

I vote for 7/27. It was high energy and before I started to get the vibe that the band was getting a bit worn out... (I went to 7/26-27, 8/2-5).

The London gig. Easy. Rocket, Hummer, Silverfuck and Gossamer were completely standout compared to almost every other gig. The singalong on every single song alone was worth it.
