Is it just me or was the adore tour and all the adore songs especially just amazing?
I would love to goto a show and they play like all the adore songs..

They simply rocked the house

Every song on Adore is better on the record

however To Sheila, Pug, For Martha are all welcome additions to a setlist

Every song on Adore is better on the recordyup, except for Tear and Ava Adore maybe.

i do like what they did with most of them though, they just can't compare to the stark beauty of the record.

Ava Adore better live?

That pulsating bass and circular drum pattern is vital to the song and dissapears live, as does the stunningly beautiful shimmering guitar effect in the chorus

not to mention they always play it way too fast

im not saying its better than the album.. because the album is a beautiful thing that was masterpieced together... but there is just something about them during the adore era that is just, superb.

That version of Pug is very boring and lacks depth. I hate how every thing was all metaled out after Adore.

It's funny. People always say Adore is kinda wussy acoustic/electronic music. The Adore tour gave a rock show. Anyone who saw the band perform Ava Adore, Tear, Pug, and even To Shelia would not walk out of the theater without thinking about how they'd just been rocked.

Daphne Descends & Perfect (The full band version) are the two songs I thought were drastically better live during the Adore tour, especially Daphne Descends. That song, performed with the dual drum sets, was so much better than the album version.

I wouldn't mind making an Adore Live album. Some of those acoustic To Sheilas were so awesome.

my biggest problem with the Adore tour was Mike Garson. Nothing against him personally, but his piano parts make my ears hurt.

why is there an arising era video there for talking about adore era?

i think there is lots of beauty in non adore material, but it's easier for people to see the beauty when it's highlighted softer music allows. it's still there in the heavy stuff though.
starla, ruby, silverfuck, i am one, bury me, they are all just as or more beautiful than the songs of adore. just wrapped in a heavier context.

I was at that show! I really had no idea what to expect from that show because of how Adore is on record, but when I left the Marcus Ampitheater, I was fuckin' blown away! It was hot, sweaty, maryjane-laced, air (July 5th) and every single person was like "Wow! That fuckin' rocked... so hard."

To Sheila rocked my socks off from the beginning (I think the Atlanta show's version is slightly better with a guitar solo from Billy and James, instead of just one from Billy). Thru the Eyes of Ruby, IMO was played in its BEST form on the Adore tour, just magical. So spacey and beautiful; some of the best solos (dual as well) I've ever heard from SP, ever.

And Transmission was a great, great closer. As well as Blank Page; another song that was transformed into a rock epic.... actually almost all the Adore songs were worthy of set-ending, rock epic status. A very special Era.

I just remembered I had to comment on "For Martha" - a 15 minute version with epic solos to end the song, just other-worldly.

That version of Pug is very boring and lacks depth. I hate how every thing was all metaled out after Adore.

I think heavy guitars give the song more emotion and feeling than the emptyness of the synth.

I like that version of Pug a lot. I enjoyed a lot of the machina era live adore songs.

Overall I think the album is best the way it is. Making the songs a bit more rocking is really great for a live show but it's more affecting and haunting on the album.

the studio version of Ava Adore is a highlight of corgan's entire career.

I miss the feel of the Adore live shows - to me it seems the last tour where Billy really seemed to have a connection with what he was singing.

Machina tour was just..... almost an impersonation of themselves/what they thought they should be.

And as for songs better live than the album, I would agree Once Upon a Time (19th June '98 especially) and Blank Page Atlanta show is one of their greatest live performances ever. To Sheila at that show was amazing too.

I was disappointed by the live versions of some of the tracks. Speeding up the songs, the drawn out "It's you that I adoooooooooooooooore" at the beginning of Ava Adore and the completely unnecessary extended piano jams were things I could have done without. Pug and Tear were still worth the ticket price but yeah, those are my thoughts...

The shows in support of Adore are some of my faves. The Perfect Tears bootleg is amazing, particularly Tear, Perfect, and Blank Page.

Adore is by far my least favorite Pumpkins album. However, Adore live is one of my favorite eras of the band. I wish they would've recorded the album the way they performed all of those songs live. I think they sound MUCH better live and electric than they do using all of that electronic crap like on the album. I am not a fan of any electronic sounding music (ie. The Future Embrace).

I'm right there with you. Live it all kicked ass. The songs were great - but the delivery on the album interfered with the greatness, if you ask me.

THIS is why adore is a masterpiece

It's great because the songs can have 2 different sounds?? Is that what you meant? Well, A LOT of Pumpkins songs have acoustic versions / different sounds than the recordings, but... I still prefer the live way on Adore. But nonetheless, I am glad to have both "versions". Listen to how differently they played live versions of MCIS songs like Beautiful and Lily. I really liked the live versions of those too, but I think the recorded versions from the album still captured the songs greatly. Whereas, I don't think the Adore album captured the true greatness of those songs. I think they actually sound SOOOO much better live, that they should've actually been recorded that way (the album almost sounds like a bunch of remixes). Just my 2 cents though. It seems most people will disagree with me since Adore is actually the album of choice for many people here.
