Eulogy 07-19-2007, 10:37 AM ROLL CALL!!
I'll be there. now i just have to get where in the venue i'm going to be sorted out...
for people who've been there, how's the sound? i've been to 3 outdoor venues in my life....one is excellent, one is ok, and one is absolutely horrendous.
Eulogy 07-19-2007, 10:48 AM my excitement cannot be contained.
when i saw them at the united center in 2000, my obsession had not yet reached its peak. at that time, i didn't fully appreciate certain songs like I do now.
i didn't feel closure from it. so here we go.
Eulogy 07-19-2007, 10:55 AM ok i guess i'll just use this thread to jizz all over myself about this
np: Glass and the Ghost Children (11/29/00)
this is one of my favorite performances of any song ever. my machina love was in full force at that point in my life and i remember being blown the fuck away at how they did this one.
spguitar 07-19-2007, 11:14 AM I wonder how early we'll need to get there for front row...
Eulogy 07-19-2007, 11:16 AM I wonder how early we'll need to get there for front row...
oh, so it is definitely all GA?
i'll get there 24 hours early if i have to.
Eulogy 07-19-2007, 11:20 AM Tickets on sale Saturday, July 21 at 10:00 am at Ticketmaster.com all Ticketmaster outlets and the Mud Island Box Office 901-525-1515. All tickets are $45.00 plus service fee with general admission seating. Show time 8:00 pm, doors at 7:00.
oh hey i guess i could have just read that
CHAOS when the doors open. oh man. i hope there's a way to avoid that. cough toby cough.
redhawk 07-24-2007, 08:47 PM Just got two tickets, but still not sure if I will be able to make it up. It is a 5 to 6 hour drive from Baton Rouge and I'm seeing them at Voodoo Fest two days after this concert in N.O. Figured I could always dump them on EBAY if I can't make it for either close to face or a little below.
redhawk 07-25-2007, 10:53 AM Guess I am defenitly going now. I was playing around with Priceline.com and named a price of $35 for a room thinking they would never take it and it came back with a room at the Radisson in Memphis which is a 3-star hotel. Now I just have to tell my wife.
Hypno+Raygun 09-30-2007, 10:55 PM Tickets are STILL available for this show. I am surprised this has not sold out. It isn't THAT far from the rest of the world. I am driving from the St Louis area.. Just saying, Road Trip People!
spguitar 10-02-2007, 08:27 AM Anyone video taping it? I'm thinking about it.
Hypno+Raygun 10-03-2007, 09:45 AM I might video the show, I am curious about the security. In Asheville it wasn't a problem, but I wonder about this venue..?..
JRiordan 10-03-2007, 10:49 AM I might video the show, I am curious about the security. In Asheville it wasn't a problem, but I wonder about this venue..?..
It would be helpful if you called/email the venue in advance to make sure they are aware of the open taping policy. SP management says they inform all venues of their policy, but in some cases people still have problems, though Red Rocks was totally cool, and there are reports of multiple tapers (video and audio) for St. Paul last night, so it seems to be getting better in general.
If venue security does give you any trouble, you should ask for Gio, who is the head of SP security. He should be able to get you in.
Thx and good luck, have fun
Hypno+Raygun 10-04-2007, 11:11 AM JRiordan thanks for the info!
zsp77 10-08-2007, 12:11 AM I'll be there too. Can't fucking wait. Did someone say this is an outdoor venue?
Eulogy 10-08-2007, 03:44 PM I'll be there too. Can't fucking wait. Did someone say this is an outdoor venue?
mhmm
bkrodgers 10-21-2007, 03:54 PM Anyone know much about the venue? (other then outdoor and general admission, which I already got.) Is it a pretty good place to see a show? How do they handle general admission when (from the pictures I saw online) it's a venue with seats? I'm debating driving down from St. Louis. 4 and half hours, but if I can get a cheap hotel then it wouldn't be too bad. No way I can do that kind of drive back after the show.
I saw them in Normal, which was a great show. Do you think Memphis is likely to equal or better it? I'd hate to go all that way and find that the venue isn't that great.

i've been getting the impression that they're getting better as they go along. but yeah, i'm also curious as to how the sound is at this place.
"Other than Winter, Mud Island is the place to see live bands. I have been to numerous concerts there & they always are better than seeing the same artists indoors (so, no, Memphis in May concerts do not count). My favorite moment there was a hot night watching Widespread Panic when a small rain came through long enough to cool everything off to a nice temperature."
found that review. so i guess it can't be terrible.
gjackx 10-22-2007, 11:20 AM I think I'm gonna bring my audio gear...not really looking forward to that, but it'll alright. I'm afraid that it might be a bit too windy by the river. Anyone know how much of a factor this could be?
spguitar 10-22-2007, 12:48 PM I'm gonna bring a camcorder i think. I hope security doesn't get all uppity.
drumomorris 10-22-2007, 12:59 PM TWO TICKETS NEED TO GET RID OF ASAP 75$ PM OR EMAIL ME AT JMWEST@MAC.COM IM IN NASHVILLE CAN MEET OR OVER NIGHT THEM
Machina12 10-22-2007, 03:02 PM Mud Island is good. Sound and everything will be fine. I plan on getting there at 6 even though the doors dont open till' 7. I want to be around row 8. I hope the crowd gets crazy and doesn't just stand around.
Hypno+Raygun 10-24-2007, 09:28 AM Bring your Rain Jackets! It is forecasted to rain. 50% chance. Let's hope it holds off. It maybe interesting. Seeing how this isn't even sold out, then if it DOES rain.. hmm.. Empty house?
gjackx 10-24-2007, 03:13 PM Great, all the more reason to have a shorter show =( I hope he doesn't take it out on the fans who ARE there and play ANOTHER weak set (like he did @ the Pyramid, many years ago)!!!
Let's think positive gang!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is going to be interesting...

People were throwing stuff at them at the pyarmid.
JRiordan 10-24-2007, 08:59 PM People were throwing stuff at them at the pyarmid.
What happened? Which show was this? (EDIT: 10/22/96)
I have heard good things about that venue but never been there myself.
zsp77 10-25-2007, 01:04 AM Do they cancel shows when it rains for this venue, or is the stage covered adequately?
JRiordan 10-25-2007, 02:39 AM Here is how the show is marketed on the Mud Island website ( http://www.mudisland.com/concerts.asp ):

c_wilson 10-25-2007, 11:03 AM okay everybody,
pumpkins are gonna be here in memphis tonight so lets not bullshit them this time like we did back in '96 when they hardly sold any tickets. Its rainy and cold as fuck here but I would watch them in a blizzard so let the true fans scream the loudest tonight!!!!!!!!!!! and all your little 14 yr old bitches who have billy's face ironed on your makeshift t-shirts and purses shouldn't scream for billy like he's the long-lost backstreet boy!!!.. So light your weed up and enjoy the show while billy and jimmy fuckin' rawwwkkkk on the mississippi river!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I"M TOTALLY STOKED!!

fireplug. 10-25-2007, 11:49 AM Oh jeez I've been waiting for today for like three months.
I've never seen a show at Mud Island so I hope it's good.
All I do know is that its fucking cold and I'm going to be sitting outside for the next eight hours.
Someone bring hot chocolate and come find me.
fireplug. 10-25-2007, 11:54 AM Does anybody know about the meet and greets?
I heard the radio giving out passes... so I'm guessing that means we would need a pass... X.X
Machina12 10-25-2007, 12:36 PM i'll be outside the gates at 6 :) I can't wait. hopefully since they are not too fond of memphis.. AND it didn't sell out again.. maybe we'll get "F You (ode to no one)" tonight :)

Woah, am I the only one going like.... now?
O.O
spguitar 10-25-2007, 01:35 PM Anyone video taping? I just called information and they said the security might not allow camcorders....
Spankarine 10-25-2007, 07:22 PM I decided not to go. But interested in whatever i missed... so report back after the show.
Eulogy 10-26-2007, 12:01 AM I decided not to go. But interested in whatever i missed... so report back after the show.
wrong decision.
Drown, STRTJ, an absolutely stellar rendition of SIYL, and Heavy Metal Machine, which is not done justice by recordings at all.
those were the highlights, along with That's the Way for me....but the whole thing was excellent.
Machina12 10-26-2007, 12:25 AM Just got back.. best show ever been to. eulogy.. where were you? what row and all that

hm
SlingeroGuitaro 10-26-2007, 01:55 AM indeed. i havent been too impressed with the length of the setlists since the residency stint ended. i saw them in glasgow, and was very disappointed. i hope austin is better.
1100ww 10-26-2007, 02:27 AM yeah, disappointingly short.
AnnMarie727 10-26-2007, 06:37 AM did anyone tape it? bring it on. I can't wait to see
rolmos 10-26-2007, 07:56 AM Well, they played HMM, Superchrist AND US. How long was thw entire show?
DamingR 10-26-2007, 07:58 AM Glad I didn't drive down there for that! Another crappy short setlst.

MisterSquishyHalo 10-26-2007, 08:34 AM If they stopped playing HMM and SUperchrist, they could fit in 4-5 normal length songs in there.
The length of the shows hasnt really changed that much. People hoping/thinking that they would keep on with the 3 hour shows for the entire show were kidding themselves
Eulogy 10-26-2007, 08:43 AM i mean it was short, but whatever. i really have no complaints.
Machina12 10-26-2007, 09:06 AM i was sixth row left section.. not the far left. wasnt too bad of a setlist.. no zero though. longer encore would've been better. eulogy.. were you with the memphis pumpkins fans? where are the videos ??
Eulogy 10-26-2007, 09:11 AM i was sixth row left section.. not the far left. wasnt too bad of a setlist.. no zero though. longer encore would've been better. eulogy.. were you with the memphis pumpkins fans? where are the videos ??
i was not. so i have no idea.
I enjoyed lucky13, but was dissapointed that they didn't play lmgtwty, but they played it during soundcheck so I guess its ok. Either way, me and Eulogy had some pretty spectacular seats. I had a great time.
redbull 10-26-2007, 11:52 AM did they do anything else during soundcheck?
i_adore_adore 10-26-2007, 01:11 PM no
spguitar 10-26-2007, 01:27 PM Pictures or video? :D
I was 7th row center/left seat 17.
sppunk 10-26-2007, 01:28 PM Wow, that setlist puts the "shitty" Philly show in check huh.
Sucks for the south.
spguitar 10-26-2007, 01:29 PM Wow, that setlist puts the "shitty" Philly show in check huh.

It was actually REALLY good. I was happy with it. :)
Especially when he blew 1979 and said:
FUCK i didn't know i was going to be playing this song on the north pole.
farlikeastar 10-26-2007, 02:28 PM I would say that it was a great show even though it was short. I wasn't expecting a 3 hour set or anything. The show wasn't even sold out and it was rainy and cold at an outdoor venue. I'll be honest that I was a little disappointed that it wasn't longer, but can you blame them? Billy messed up a couple of times during acoustic 1979 and he made a comment like "Sorry you guys. I had no idea when I wrote this song that I would be playing it in the fucking...north pole."
So, I mean, considering the circumstances, it was a great set.
farlikeastar 10-26-2007, 02:37 PM did anyone tape it? bring it on. I can't wait to see
I was in the front row to the left of the stage and there was a woman sitting next to me who taped parts of it. I don't know if she'll post it anywhere though. She looked REALLY unhappy. I think she was taping it for her daughter. I was going to ask her about it after the show, but she disappeared.
I hope she didn't tape Today. He had the audience sing the first verse and I sang REALLY loudly and REALLY badly.
spguitar 10-26-2007, 02:40 PM I asked Gio for a setlist and he said: Sorry man..
:(
farlikeastar 10-26-2007, 02:43 PM did they do anything else during soundcheck?
Neverlost
Eulogy 10-26-2007, 04:04 PM did they do anything else during soundcheck?
Lucky 13
Eulogy 10-26-2007, 04:05 PM Neverlost
........where the hell was i for that?
farlikeastar 10-26-2007, 06:09 PM They were playing it right when I got into the line (about 6:30).
redhawk 10-26-2007, 09:29 PM It was a great show and the band played great. Anybody that complains about that show needs to be shot.
The new stuff was actually the highlight for me. U.S., Tarantula, BTL, Doomsday Clock and That's the Way all sound great as live rockers.
My favorite song from the night was Lucky 13 though.
They soundchecked Lucky 13 and LMGTWTY, but I didn't hear Neverlost.
The opening band sucked big time. They were OK for about 5 minutes and then it got old.
I didn't hear neverlost either.
farlikeastar 10-27-2007, 02:18 AM I had at least 3 other people with me that heard Neverlost at soundcheck, so if I'm crazy, then they are too.
I was into the opening band. I thought they were great. People are different though, I guess. When they were on some guy was yelling "You suck! Freebird!!!" I was really worried about the crowd at that point but I guess it worked out. :)
JRiordan 10-27-2007, 02:34 AM Any other comments from Billy? How was the crowd overall?
He said, "I don't know what the fuck we are doing on mud island."
I had at least 3 other people with me that heard Neverlost at soundcheck, so if I'm crazy, then they are too.
The 4 of you were crazy because they only soundchecked the 2 above mentioned songs.
redhawk 10-27-2007, 09:15 AM I would say there were about 2,500 to 3,000 people there, which was pretty good as it was raining and cold. The crowd was a good one and the band I think really appreciated our efforts to withstand the cold and rain.
Billy seemed to be in a good mood. He once noticed a sign from a girl that said take me backstage and he said it takes more than that to get back stage because he said he got the email from Motley Crue.
Hypno+Raygun 10-27-2007, 02:13 PM I will post more later, I have to get going to work, I just got home from the trip down there. The show was NOT bad, it didn't seem too short for me. It was GREAT! It really was. This was the 22nd time I have seen BC perform, and honestly.. It was great. No complaints. I would have liked to hear a few more songs, but you know what? I am just happy they are back together so I can hear ANY of the songs again. there are too many people here that are spoiled. What if they would have stayed broken up? There are a lof of you that would NEVER have got to hear some of these songs live. I had a great time. I recorded it on my MD and it came out pretty good. I was 4th row center. More later. GREAT show!
PS. Billy was FREEZING. He would put his hands in his pocket and under his arm during songs to warm them up!
redbull 10-27-2007, 02:21 PM I recorded it on my MD and it came put pretty good. I was 4th row center.

For being a Chicagoan... he is not well-adapted to cold.
redbull 10-27-2007, 03:50 PM this all fits with my theory that billy has cancer
TiaraGurl 10-27-2007, 06:27 PM For being a Chicagoan... he is not well-adapted to cold.
