Has anyone who ordered more than the posted limit had their orders cancelled by Ticketmaster? If so, how long after the order was placed did it occur, and how were you notified?
My friend ordered three tickets for the Friday Philly show when it was announced and got pretty crappy seats. So she kept trying and pulled pit tickets, and without thinking ordered three of those for us on the same credit card. She called TM, who told her that the matter was out of their hands, and it was up to the promoter whether or not our tickets would be cancelled. I'm just wondering on the time frame. If we screwed ourselves, then fine, but I wish I knew if we were going to have to to Stubhub it or not. Being in ticket limbo kinda sucks.

What was the posted limit? And by "pit seats" are you talkin' about the triple-letter orchestra seating?

Posted limit was 4. I'm not sure what the pit tickets say as far as whether or not they're the ever-elusive triple letters. Just that she got them by selecting "pit" as the section to search when she got them. I'll talk to her tomorrow and find out specifically what's on the tickets

Hopefully your friend did as I did and selected the Ticketfast option for ticket delivery, this is the one where you just print out the tickets yourself. If that turns out to be the case, and she already printed them out, I don't see anyway for either TM or Tower to reject 'em.

I didn't even think to ask that. I used Ticketfast as well (as much as it burned me up to pay $2.50 for an email that I would print out at my own house), but didn't print out the tickets yet. Is there a barcode on them? I would imagine they have to scan them, to prevent duplicates and such, but I don't know if there's a way for them to void certain tickets in their system otherwise.
Regardless, thanks for your input.

The tickets do have barcodes, and the page that I printed the ticket out on also has a reminder in the top right-hand corner stating "Present this entire page at the event." So, I know how some people might get the urge to just get a pair of scissors and cutout the ticket, but you need the whole page (advertisements & all) along with the actual barcode for proof. Now, the only thing I'm not sure of is whether you could print out these tickets more than once, like in the event you print it out now and weeks down the road you lose it. I know for one thing that when I print tickets at home for Phillies games, they do mention that you will only be able to print out the ticket once.
I've already printed out my tickets along with the corresponding order confirmation sheets and I also saved the ticket files sent by TM.

Which is exactly why I haven't printed mine yet. They're safer as an intangible entity floating in cyberspace than they are in a pile on my desk.

For what it's worth...you can print out ticketfast tickets more than once.
But if you do, don't misplace them. God forbid someone swipe 'em off your desk. Whichever ticket is scanned first at the concert is the one that gets in.

Does it communicate with you?
I have no input on whether the promoter would cancel them.

This is pretty optimistic. Barcodes are the rule and if Ticketmaster says that the barcode on your sheet is bogus you won't get in. If they cancel the order they are void. I've had "print now" tickets that I had to cancel and a friend tried to use them for shits and giggles. Long story short: entrance DENIED.

Is there an amusing long story, or did they just get turned away? I'm hoping for an amusing, and possibly embarassing, long story.

They can cancel the tickets and make them void. The barcodes won't work if they do this.
I over ordered on the Asheville shows, but quickly cancelled them, then immediately got on Ticketmaster and waited for my just released tickets to show back up. Sure enough within about 5 minutes my tickets that I released were there and I rebought them with my wife's credit card and used her work address. Never had a problem getting in.

The tickets arrived in the mail. I'm assuming that if they were going to cancel them, they would have already.
