aside from BC Place, the forum is pretty much the worst sounding regular concert venue in Vancouver.

Not too far away. I can't wait. Looking at the setlists, I doubt they will play "To Forgive", which is, uh, a shame. I've been waiting 12 years to see them. Every damn time they have come something has prevented me.

i am not sure that it is... kind of came out of right field about the soundcheck. he just randomly txt msg me. He always seemed to be a very honest guy.

IF the soundcheck thing is true, all those (cuts) sound like they were just fucking around, anyway. That's only if it was true... just what it sounds like to me from the limited info.
So cutting out all of that, the only new one is electric Rocket, which has been soundchecked before (I think? - I'm sure someone else can confirm or deny this) - assuming everything else was just partial.
Still might be some hope for the future if they even hear how it sounds, just fucking around or whatever.

Ya, I hear ya. Thats partly why it's 5 minutes till the doors open and Im still at home. Im excited for tonight, but after having seen them 9 times, and front row at the Fillmore, there's not much build-up for me. So Im trying the "relaxed" approach this time around. ;)

Yeah, sorry I couldn't update, the place became way too squashed when the Pumpkins came on. The set above is correct.

Rocket, as stated, was electric.

GATGC had a super long intro, at first just Jimmy and Lisa on organ, Billy came in later on slide and Jeff on ebow.

To Shiela was Billy on accoustic, the rest of the band as per normal.

1979 was Billy solo.

United States went into Oh Canada, then Star Spangled Banner and back into Oh Canada.

HMM had White Rabbit and then something else, not On The Road Again, the only lyric I can remember is "Didn't have no money, didn't have no where to go." (EDIT: That is kind of On The Road Again lyrics, now that I check them: "I didn't have no payroll, Not even no place to go.")

Starla was the 2nd encore.

Zero was one of the highlights of the show. I've never heard it played that insane on any boot. I hope someone taped, security were being really thorough with their searches. There were signs saying non pro cameras allowed, no audio, no video. Some girl told me they tried to take her cellphone at the door when they found it had a camera though??? No idea what the commotion was about 15 mins before the band went on, security was on the railings with torches, pulled some people out...

security asked me what was in my pocket...i jsut said....its a camera...no probs at all. didnt see too mnay camera there though.

So I also just got back from the show.
The crowd was really rowdy compared to many SP shows Ive been to. People were being pulled out from the front row 10 minutes before SP even came on. Security was indeed pissed and kicked out a few people, again, before SP even came on.
Overall I thought the show was amazing. The new lighting rig is pretty sweet, but the lower level lights have GOT to go - or at least tell people to bring sunglasses. Its annoying as hell, though it was quite amusing to look at people around me - everyone was squinting.

Band was wearing all white, with Billy with the blue/grey stripes underneath.

Surprisingly, I thought 1979 was amazing. The crowd got really into it.

The only bit of banter was before 1979 - said the song was about Canada, and that without Canada, the song would not exist. Haha.

As Cowboy Dan said earlier, Starla was the 2nd encore - the only song I didnt really want to hear.

Im not sure if Lisa always had a mic during Thats the Way, but its quite amazing to see Ginger, Jeff, Billy and Lisa all on vocals, lined up along the front, during the chorus.

Ginger was in TOP shape. She was really rocking out - had her leg up on one of the amps at one point. She seemed really comfortable. Jeff on the other hand seemed to take more of a back seat compared to previous shows Ive seen. Even the soloing interactiong between him and Billy seems to have toned down.

Last time I heard Rocket live was in 96. :) Definitely a highlight.

Unlike other 07 shows Ive seen, the extended jamming on Heavy Metal Machine didnt seem to work too well. Not sure why. On the Road again seemed unnecessary. Same with the extra long Glass and the Ghost Children. THe beginning of US also felt kinda sloppy, especially back to back with acoustic 1979. Kinda weird.

Overall, the show was AMAZING. Definitely enjoyed it more than the 7.25 Fillmore show I was at. Amazing show - I disconnected only at HMM. And walked towards the back during Today...even further towards the exit during Starla.

Oh..also...quite the massive mosh pit during Bullet.

Oh, and merch...everything was about 5$ more than US prices. Not sure why considering there's not much difference at all in the value...

I guess the Holy War shirt from the online store is either gonna show up at shows soon or just...be an exclusive shirt kind of deal, cause it was nowhere to be found.

well, i just got in from the show and i am fucking blown away still. this is my 5th time seeing them in total, first (and only) time on this tour stood in front of billy maybe 30 feet away or less, depending on which way the crownd was going..

zero was comepltely insane, and i thought starz definately came off really well. the musicianship of the band was amazing, most of the night they sounded incredibly tight. not having seen many of the setlists i was THRILLED to hear rocket electric and hummer! are these songs played often on this tour?

was surprised not to hear SIYL or muzzle though, but not complaining. I thought it was an incredible performance, and Billy definately seemed to be in a good mood. a few times onstage you could see him with a big smile on his face.

The band melted my fucking skull tonight. I spent the entire evening on the fringes of the most area rocking out and the band seemed to be very well recieved by the crowd. The energy really picked up when they launched into Bring the Light, got one of the biggest reactions on the night, and Tonight Tonight and Tarantula were performed flawlessly.

there was definitely no electric rocket in may or june.

He has all the chops and brings a fresh energy to SP.... though I still obviously miss James' presence in the band, I'd rather have Jeff there being 100% committed then James playing and being about 5% into it. It's a question of either being overly sentimental or giving Pumpkins 2007 a fair chance

This show was infinitely better than when they played Summersault on the farewell tour. In fact, it was the best show I've ever been too. So Zeitgeist and sentimentality aside, this incarnation brings it live. Billy was on fire last night.

HMM aside, the soundcheck alone would've been worth it.

Amazing show. I was right at the front, pushed up against the rails, closer to Ginger than Billy.

The show started off terrible. The Bravery are shit and change their style and looks to whatever is "hip" at the time. The singer seemed like a coked-up idiot while rest of the band stood like fucking cardboard cut-outs, probably high as fuck on heroin.

The Goblin score for Suspiria was fucking awesome. Being the biggest Dario Argento fan and Pumpkins fan, I couldn't believe it. I was ready to be blown away right from the start. They rocked so hard I still cannot hear. Jimmy's drumming was just insane. My stomach still hurts from his playing.

While people might bitch about Starla being the closer, I thought it was a beautiful way to end the night. I also dug all the long, different versions of songs like HMM, but that's just me. The lighting show was also trippy and impressive, but sadly at times a bit cheesy, but nothing too bad. The band had a lot of energy and when I got back I was ready to sleep for two days.

I was also impressed by the sound. It sounded perfect for me but it could have just been where I was standing.

Anyone else outside waiting for the band and these two fucking girls get around the gates and knock on their tour bus and the fucking rent-a-cops tell us all to leave because of them. What the fuck? I'd like to know who those dumbasses were that pretty much ruined any chance of meeting them. If you're on this board: wait like everyone else, you fucking idiots.

damn rocket is one of my faves and i've never heard it live.
i bet bodies is something else, the guitar riffing style is similar on a lot of their other songs and who knows whatever new stuff/jams they have.
as for the other soundchecked songs, they havent played in chicago yet so i bet they're just practicing to unveil a few new things at whatever big event happens there.

Otherwise...the show sounded amazing indeed. I had the feeling that the energy of shows might pick up a bit once the Pumpkins got on with their more "regular" tour schedule and had more time to comfortably break in some of our old favorites (as well as these new, constantly evolving ones like Superchrist.) That songs like Ava Adore, and now the full band electric Rocket are surfacing gives me increasingly high hopes for whatever they'll be playing here by November 3. (Billy has a history of giving the Dallas/Fort Worth area great shows.)

First, sorry to hear about this. A 20 year old? Very tragic.

Just based on the Billy speech video posted in this thread, the venue / crowd setup seems more inviting for moshing than the Fillmore or other theatres they have played. Not that people couldn't have started a big circle at the Fillmore, but I don't think most people going there are expecting that.

Or maybe American crowds are just totally tame these days... I definitely would like more energy at the shows from the whole crowd. Personally it is impossible for me to stand motionless during Silverfuck, but I have seen people do just that. Not that I want to get beaten up, but I'm all about jumping around sometimes. But there are points where it's nice that the crowd is tame -- Gio definitely was ruling with an iron fist at the Fillmore.

The show was absolutely great, anyone who doubts the new Pumpkins had to be at the show yesterday, its true, the new band does absolutely own it live.
The crowd was absolutely feeding off the band and likewise, and the lighting set up they have now is mezmorizing.

It was especialy cool to hear my favourite song Rocket and Ava adore live was also great to hear cause i hadnt seen any bootlegs of those from the new band and they sounded great. Billy has a great art at making a perfect setlist cause whenever i'd be exhausted and ready to faint he would switch up with some nice mellow stuff to enjoy while we all caught a breather.

All around the band was as tight as ive ever seen them on any recent bootlegs (i heard a few less than pumpkin like ones but theyve got it all together now) and the whole band went into a few face melting jam solos and it was quite the treat and unlike anything ive heard from the band. This was a grade a pumpkins show

And judging by billys speach at the end he was as pleased with the show as all of us stoked-as-fuck pumpkins fans.
I just hope the tragic events dont sour billys feeling for the show any cause this was definatly a show to remember. It really showed to all 4000 people that Pumpkins were back and better then ever.

Very sad. Crowdsurfing is a dumb thing to do, but it's harsh as fuck that someone died from a moment of youthful stupidity. I remember doing it when I was about 15 and I properly fucked my back up for a year or two. Not cool at all.

A Richmond, B.C. man who died Monday night at a Smashing Pumpkins rock show in Vancouver was crowd surfing before he collapsed, the coroner's service said Tuesday.

The coroner found no trauma to the man's head or any other part of his body. The cause of death won't be known for weeks until an autopsy and a toxicology report are complete.

The name of the man, 20, has not been released.

Vancouver police said about 38,000 people were packed into the Pacific National Exhibition forum for the concert. A mosh pit and crowd-surfing — where a concert-goer gets tossed from person to person above the crowd — were part of the show.

"A couple of people dragged a male out of the mosh pit toward security," police spokesman Const. Howard Chow said Tuesday night. "They called first aid right away. They tried to resuscitate him … They were unsuccessful."

Laura Ballance, PNE's media relations officer, said crowd-surfing is allowed at concerts at the site, but discouraged by security.

"This is an extremely unfortunate situation and there will certainly be discussion within the organization," she told CBC News, adding it would be useless to speculate on the cause of death.

just to let you all know, he wasn't crowd surfing, moshing, doing anything stupid. He was simply on the floor watching the concert, and had a freak seizure and his heart stopped. He had no history of epilepsy, and we had gone to tons of concerts before, so it was just some freak of nature seizure thing that decided to happen at that concert and not some other...
