Got 2 GA tickets here as well.... anyone seen a show at the Pearl and know how large the GA section is? Are we talking 100 or 1000? I think the venue holds 2500 total.

After seeing SP at the Whiskey, everything else is too big.

Yeah, couldn't pull up any GA tickets, only singles seated in section 202 or 203 and one time got a pair in section 303. Sounds like the GA tickets went with the presale. Any idea why GA tickets have a row and seat number assigned to them?

It's just for tracking purposes. Even most shows that are completely GA usually still have ticket numbering.

OK, who else is getting F@(&!*# pumped for this show?!! The venue looks so awesome. Even though it has more capacity than the Fillmore I think this will feel just as intimate (especially for me on the floor), but all around the venue the seats are located very close to the stage.

The reason i'm not going is that three weeks ago, my younger brother passed away in an accident. After interstate travel for the funeral and assisting my family with expenses, I can no longer afford to be away from work or to cover the travel expenses to go to this concert. Monte do it!! Vegas flights are much cheaper than many other cities, at least coming from Chicago (way cheaper than San Francisco!).

I'm seeing roundtrip flights for around $220 from OAK to LAS on Orbitz. Check around. Or you can go OAK>LAS and return LAS>SFO for $173 on Southwest!

I arrive Thurs. 9/13 at 10:26AM, then have to check in somewhere. A while back I was going to book a room at the Palms (where the concert venue is located), but of course I procrastinated and now the rates are way too high. So I'm probably either staying at Mandalay Bay or Luxor, where my friends (who are not SP fans and not seeing the show) are staying.

You can get a room at the Luxor or Monte (lol) Carlo for $60-$70, or even cheaper at Circus Circus, and possibly Imperial Palace. But for the niceness of the hotel, I think Luxor or Monte Carlo are the best deals right now:

I drove 4 hours from LA to vegas without a ticket to foo fighters and pearl jam a few years back (they were playing in the same week) and had no problem getting face value tix for both even though they were sold out.. I paid a little over face for sp at UNLV for the first show post jimmy overdose with matt walker, but that was worth it... :)

my point is, monte.. if you really want to go (which is questionable.. :) ),don't let the lack of a ticket stop you

BTW Monte don't even worry about a hotel room, I'm sure you can come to my/my friends' room no problem. The only issue would be if you want to drop off your stuff there, I will most likely be in line for the SP show. But if you're just coming for the day, I assume you'd travel pretty light

I'll be at the show tonight. I'm getting there early, I just don't know when. I've never been inside the pearl but it seems pretty cool. I checked out the palms last night. There isn't any place to actually line up. There's the walkway around the entire casino and the doors to the pearl is right across from all the gaming. I can't really explain it. But it's like just a random spot for a theatre.

Just like the House of Blues in Mandalay Bay, or the Joint in the Hard Rock Hotel.

I would bet money that there will be no new old songs, but I hope I'm wrong.

Jeff and Ginger walked out together in the casino with a few body guards, i think. I kinda just went over and asked for a picture when he was walking away. I was stoked.

Most people in the front row knew what it was going to be... or that's all we hoped for. When billy said that I was like... dude, BRING THE LIGHT!!!!! BRING THE LIGHT!!!!! It was a really fast version. The solo wasn't that good though. But still, it was Bring The Light.

Billy and Jeff had some pretty sweet solos.

But I still think that the San Francisco show I went to was better. I was looking forward to Starz... but they didn't play it.

The security guard looked at the set list for me and on it was 23 songs, but they only played 20 songs. He also said that they were told it's going to be 3 hours... depending on billys mood. Don't know if I should believe it or not.

That same guy told my friend and I that there's a stalker going around. Blonde hair, white lace-up boots. white clothes. Pale skin. 'm like... Ginger? Haha. He said that that girl is not allowed in the venue.

I managed to tape most of the show, but only after a shit load of arguing with the venue staff. The guy checking bags at the door tried to harass me a little, but I very assertively told him "no dude, it's cool", kept walking, and he let it go.

Once the show started, about halfway though U.S., some other venue guy tapped me on the shoulder and told me that he was instructed to tell me to put the camera away. I explained to him that the band allows taping, and he gave me a perplexed look and said he would check with his supervisor. The came back a few minutes later and said I had to turn the camera off. I asked if this was the venue's or the band's policy. He said it was the venue. I explained that all SP fans have specific written permission from the band to tape all of their shows. He said he would check with his supervisor again and get back to me. I stopped taping for a few mins and he did not return. As Hummer started up, I thought the hell with it, and turned the camera back on. Within 3 mins, he returned, this time with a female venue person with a badge around her neck, who asked to look at my camera. She glanced over it briefly and I asked her if it was ok. She said that she had to make sure it was not a professional camera, and that normally the venue doesn't allow taping, but that this band allows it. She briefly conferred with the other guy who had been bugging me and the disappeared never to bother me again.

Since I was expecting a 3 hour show, and I only had enough battery for 2 - 2.5 hours in addition to my arms getting tired, I left out a few songs like BWBW and HMM, but I got a total of about 1.5 hours of footage. I'll post some clips on YouTube later today.

I think part of it may be that in Vegas, taping is typically not allowed in any major performance venue, especially a big name headlining act. The venue staff were all very cool and polite about it and they never threatened to kick me out or anything. I just think they'd never heard of a band like SP allowing open taping and had to double check.

like by having a taper's section by the board or anything. Video is a whole other thing as almost none of the big-name jam bands allow it (I know that Widespread Panic specifically forbid it)

You have a point. Something tells me disseminating the open taping policy is not the top priority among the venue staff. Perhaps Billy could walk out on stage and make an announcement before the show starts. Yeah right.

Out of curiosity....anyone think that the 3 hour shows might be over? Not that this doesn't look good and I'm sure as hell gonna enjoy the show I see pretty much no matter what, but I wonder if Billy's getting tired of doing so many long shows. They've been putting on shows constantly since May, so it wouldn't shock me if he was burning out on the long shows.

I would think that there won't be anymore 3+ hour-long shows, I guess the residency shows will be the only extra-long shows. I don't know, maybe some of the shows they did in Europe before the residencies started were just as long, but I would think now that the band is in "standard tour" mode the remaining shows of this tour will be 18-22 songs at most.

I was very happy to find out that Bring The Light is now apart of the rotation, bringing back Perfect is another great thing to see. Quite frankly, if Stellar eventually gets mixed into the rotation on this tour I will be completely satisfied with the song selection and I won't have anything to bitch & complain about when it comes to the setlists.

They could start by informing the venue. I'm pretty sure they don't really inform the venues at this point. How would an average security guy who is probably not a fan know about the band's policy?

There are bands that do a really good job at informing the venues (Wilco, Ryan Adams, Black Crowes, Dinosaur Jr, most jam bands) resulting in absolutely no problems for tapers. You can just walk through the doors with a shitload of equipment. On the other hand, there are bands that don't seem to do this (TSP, QOTSA), making a taper's life harder than necessary.

Yeah, a simple memo on the rider to inform staff/security would suffice. Still, it's cool they allow it at all I suppose.

He walked in to the front, wen't to the ghost bar line then turned around and left. I think he was asking if the bar was happening or not (it wasn't, we were up there just before that). I yelled to him as he was leaving 'great show Billy' and he said thanks and smiled. Interesting that he was going out sans Jeff/Ginger or Jimmy for that matter.

Great show by the way but what was up with the guitar problems the first three songs? You could barely hear his solo's and he kept going over to the side to talk to one of the sound engineers. Hopefully they play a proper LA show as well.

wtf? was the crowd filing out after cherub rock? i can't believe they would cut 2 encores when they only played 2 hours and they had a day off on friday.. i bet if they had done the fillmore-style chanting even with the house lights up, the house lights would have gone down again for some gossamer

Fuckers, I knew something was up. That would have added nearly an hour to the show. They better make up for it in Phoenix tomorrow. Oh, and the house lights came on almost immediately. Perhaps they were all anxious to go play the slots.

On the bright side, it kinda gets my hopes up for a 3 hour set in Detroit.....as long as Billy's in a good mood.
