I do not have tickets for this show yet....but I will have them on Saturday! And yeah, for the record, iTunes does suck. You get 128 m4p files, not even cd quality for a cost that is more than the album. Despite the cost, I did buy several copies of the album....all from big boxes;) Just joking @ the whole Atomic Records ordeal...

i'll probably drive home that night to be honest.

jack_kerouac03
07-12-2007, 01:12 PM
I'm not sure if I am doing a hotel or not. It's a four hour drive to the cities for me. I guess I could make a day out of it, and hit up some record stores and jamba juice before the show.

spacegirl2007
07-12-2007, 01:59 PM
well i will be by myself and i dont want to drive to the actual concert and deal with traffic and crap. someone i know up in SP gave me tips on hotels. i can always cancel too if i decide against it. oh plus im old and hate driving at night.

ciGarski
07-12-2007, 02:14 PM
why do you keep saying your old!? you need to get out of ames.

i drove 3 and a half hours from chicago to iowa city after a manson show, and 3 hours back to ames after a tool show in minn.

i might post up in minn too im not sure. i've got classes the next day i assume. although i don't remember my schedule.

hi. how is the show selling so far, is the floor sold out? question two that i have is, if i buy the album from itunes now, i won't still get a presale password will I? three, if there is anyone who still has room left on a passcode from the presale, and would allow it's use by another, i would be grateful to be that person or persons. I am planning to travel down to st.paul, from the lovely Canadian province of Manitoba. And I need to procure tickets for the concert.

No taping is their policy.

But that seems to be the policy at every venue I ever went to.

I think when I saw Todd Rundgren there they actually searched us. Who the hell is going to bootleg and then try to sell Todd Rundgren recordings? No one even knows who the fuck he is any more.

As for taping, if this place is that 'fort-knox-ish' about things, then I'll probably just go and enjoy without trying to sneak anything.

I should look if they have any sort of picture-taking policy either. Dammit i hate search-happy places.

alzeppelin
07-17-2007, 01:04 PM
Every venue is anal about taping, especially some in the Twin Cities. You can always get your gear in though...you just have to be creative.

I'm thinking the band's taping policy will override the venue's because that has been the case with other open taping bands I have been to. Pictures are fine at most shows as long as you turn off the flash. That is the biggest pet peeve of the artist on stage and the quickest way to draw attention to yourself.

Common sense is the key.

IWishIWasBlank
07-17-2007, 02:23 PM
I think at Todd Rundgren they just checked the front/back pockets. I could've crotched a joint (when I still smoked,) but if I had taken it into the venue, your parents would've ratted me out. Talk about a bunch of washed-up hippies... I've never seen so many polo shirts.

Considering I've had some very unpleasant internet-->IRL meetups in the past, I'm tentative to embark on such a thing. Although you do have a point, on the internets, it's just as hard to gauge one's normal side as it is to make an accurate assessment of their 'weird-factor'.

Anything new developed for St. Paul, folks?

I've been trying to get a guy to tag along. He's about 6'7." I told him to shave his head bald, then find the dumbest security guard in the place, and claim that he's Billy Corgan, and needs to get back in the venue.

I don't think it'll work, but it's livening up the office, which is about like stale toast.

Im seeing the pumpkins at V fest sunday. i think im going to save my money and buy (blow most of it) merch at the st paul show.

i have no idea who im going to take to this. i got an extra ticket. i asked one guy who i've been friends with for a long time, and got him into the pumpkins during the machina era (go figure.) and he asked me if there would be a mosh pit like there was at this RHCP/foo fighters show we saw like 7 years ago. i guess he was claustrophobic and wasn't havin it.

i told him him no promises. plus im not a pussy and i get right to the front and, imo, get my moneys worth.

really, thats the problem i run into now adays. even my friend whos going to the virgin festival told me yesterday hes not trying to mosh. he's a jam band friend and is mildly obnoxious about it. im not trying to mosh but i don't want someone pussin out when it comes to crowds being rough.

its hard to take girls to floor seating shows too, i can't believe some of the girls that guys drag into the heart of the floor, and then the chicks get all pissed off that theres big shirtless sweaty dudes bumpin into them. if you can't handle it get the fuck out.

Well - coming up from Ames, you'd hop on 94E to Kellogg before the bridge area of 35W . So no one will have to deal with that area.

I work in downtown Mpls on the top floor of a building; I saw the whole damned thing as it happened Wednesday night. Really incredible. But honestly, it hasn't changed my own traffic routes too drastically.

Screwy thing is that I had a dream on Sunday night wherein I was in my car, on a collapsing bridge. Same night, I also had some dream involving Tom Snyder, who died the next day. Upon discovering that Ingmar Bergman was also dead, I mentioned to some friend that this particular generation of iconoclastic filmmakers was gone. Then I paused and said, "Wait...Antonioni is still alive." Antononio died the next day.

Will I use my powers for good or evil? I don't know.

The Liffy is very practical for pre or post show. St. Paul is a little blah, in terms of fun times, unless you want to see where F. Scott Fitzgerald lived and have a scenic walk. Tuesdays are a pretty dull night in Minneapolis, other than 2fers at the Triple Rock on Cedar. For those that would come a day early, there's Hard Mondays at the Saloon downtown; a day later, there's Transmission at Club Jager, both of which are capable of producing OK times.

How far is Triple Rock from the venue? I think that would be a good choice, and you're right, nothing happens in St. Paul.

Last time my wife and I were up to Minneapolis, we went through St. Paul on a Saturday night, and it was like they rolled up the sidewalks at 5:00 and went to bed.

So.. I guess what I'm saying is if Triple Rock ain't far, that's my vote.

osamy
08-13-2007, 09:33 AM
Well, you'd probably have to get on the freeway. It's not CLOSE, but no more than ten minutes (hop on 94W, get off on Cedar and park around Augsburg College. In this sense, it's probably more practical for an AFTERSHOW place, (traffic on 94 is a little aggravating 3-7, and, well, I'm planning on trying to get close to that stage) whereas The Liffy or one of the DT St. Paul bars by XCel would serve for getting a little pre-show buzz.

I'm just hoping I am well-rested beforehand, as I've just learned that I'm seeing The Cure in Chicago on Saturday the 29th, which means I'll probably forego Arcade Fire on the 30th at Wilkins, but hell with it.

Hi --

The Roy Wilkins Auditorium allows non-professional/no flash photography for concerts (although the last few times I've been to concerts at the RW, camera flashes were going off left and right so it didn't seem to me as if the "no flash only" policy is stringently enforced. :) )

Can't really say that I'm stoked. I'll be fine when the show hits, and happy to see Pumpkins songs live again, but I'd be lying if I said I was excited about it.

I felt the same way going to see Roger Waters at the X in June, though, and his show was just fantastic. Hopefully the Pumpkins can do the same.

Heard yesterday Sebastian knows there's a taper for the venue.. so I'm no longer sweating bullets myself. I am still going to try to contact this guy at the next radio station over.. see if he's got anything that may be handy. It never hurts, you know.

What the fuck is Steve & Barry's? Whatever they are they probably have a website. Look there for locations.

And the closest Bennigans is on the west side of Bloomington, about 20 miles away.

The party's at McGoverns anyway.
