McGoverns is about two blocks says Nick, the guy I work with. He says it's a cool place.. just like has been said so far in the thread here that we're talking in and stuff.

Not really, no. And not any downtown at all. There's a Cheapo Records off of Snelling Ave south of I-94, but that's a good 5 miles away from the venue.

The only good thing about Bennigans is their 2-for-1 nights.

There's plenty of lots in the area. I usually park in the ramp just west of McGoverns. I don't think anything is going on at the X, so it should be pretty free and clear.

Just got back....Heavy Metal Machine was the fucking bests I have heard it....better than the other boots I've heard thus far too....but maybe I'm just biased!

There was a bit of "I Love Rock N Roll" in HMM. I suspect they were playing the main riff in there, too, along with the singing of the line, but I can't be sure because the acoustics in that place blow goats.

Home was the highlight for me. Had no idea it was coming.

As much as I love Glass + the Ghost Children, it killed the crowd at that point. They had just melted faces and cause a mass ruckus down in the front with Tahrentoola and Zero and the crowd wanted more.

The left the stage front between each of these songs, so they were not all one solid encore, rather three separate ones. Because of the way the stage is in the venue, they pretty much had to go hang out in the back where b0lly's guitars were instead of going to the dressing or staging area as there was about 50 yards between the doors and the stage, and it was all in plain view of the crowd.

However, after HMM and before Cherub Rock, Jeff took off to the doors to presumably go take a piss, because he walked pretty fast. As I said, he could be seen in plain view, so the crowd cheered for him when he came back through the doors.

It sounded pretty good up in the nosebleeds.

BTW, I managed to tape the whole show onto a digital recorder. Unfortunately I don't think it probably turned out as well as I'd hoped. There were a lot of people screaming (probably me as well, it was my first pumpkins concert, I was in a psychotic trance).

for some stupid reason the bravery recorded better than the Pumpkins, and I guess I didn't even realize I was taping the bravery, I intend to erase it later.

Anyways I'm sure someone else got some great aud and vid..cGarski was telling me he saw someone taping both of those so hopefully we'll get some good copies circulating. I'll put my audio to waveform and post it up somewhere too, but like I said I'm sure someone else got a better recording. (I was in the pit, lots of pushing and shoving and screaming)

In all honesty though, best concert i've ever been to - hands down. Even kicked AIC's ass WAY out of the ballpark (went to see them last summer for an outdoor festival).

I was right above the board and saw the setlist before the show. The show was supposed end with Encore 1 -> Cherub Rock Encore 2->Gossamer.

I'm kind of glad they skipped Gossamer since it didn't seem like it would have fit the mood as well. Great, great show btw!

I was right above the board and saw the setlist before the show. The show was supposed end with Encore 1 -> Cherub Rock Encore 2->Gossamer.

I'm kind of glad they skipped Gossamer since it didn't seem like it would have fit the mood as well. Great, great show btw!

Billy said in Utah that they would play it depending on the venue and the mood... so maybe he felt the same way.

Something along the lines of "if someone trips and breaks your camera you'll be mad at us and if someone trips and breaks their leg they'll be mad at us so see about getting something smaller or holding them." Totally understandable. Very nice guy.

Went back to the car and got a smallerish stand that we all clamped to. We may have been lucky getting that one in but we were way back by the right side of the board where there was very little foot traffic and plenty of blockage. The way to go is probably a DIY stand per manitouman or clamping somewhere in the venue.

Can't speak for the other fellas but I should have my source on TTD tonight (doubtful) or saturday at the latest (I'll also post on the LMA after it's seeded). Taping Murder by Death thursday...

There was a bit of "I Love Rock N Roll" in HMM. I suspect they were playing the main riff in there, too, along with the singing of the line, but I can't be sure because the acoustics in that place blow goats.

Home was the highlight for me. Had no idea it was coming.

As much as I love Glass + the Ghost Children, it killed the crowd at that point. They had just melted faces and cause a mass ruckus down in the front with Tahrentoola and Zero and the crowd wanted more.

The crowd was very subdued. The show was a rockfest for a good portion of it, but the crowd only got into it during Tonight Tonite, BWBW, Today and Tarantula. Maybe a short portion of Drown. Bring the Light was the highlight for me. It was definitely a surprise that they played Home, but was very welcome. The 1979, Perfect back to back was good, too. Nice to see Jimmy out there with only a tambourine.

Kind of unfortunate the crowd just stood there, but the setlist was great. The acoustics in the venue were terrible. The encore was less exciting than I thought it would be. But what do you expect when no one knows Cherub Rock?

Tomorrow night is going to rock my socks off, as I have 2nd row seats on the left.

Billy's line of the night, after asking if were having fun and delivered as only he can, was "When you think of fun, you think of us."



Now, for me, it was great to hear some of these songs live again. Not that I've ever been their biggest fan, but when Drown started it was like this is why I am here. And I can't say Tonight, Tonight is anywhere near my favorite song, but for some reason it resonated with me last night, and I got chills as we were listening.

Not that I heard, but again, the acoustics are terrible so they may have. Those last couple songs were so loud that at times it felt like it was just a wall of noise and you couldn't pick a whole lot of things out.

Yup.

Corgan was in a fine mood. It's nice to have the Cubs in the playoffs. Great show. Equivalent to a sweet workout if you were up in the front. The overlong "Glass" did get a little ponderous and boring, but I think it was a good way to settle the crowd down (I was a little worn out in trying to keep my balance). The last couple songs...unless they were all just part of that one HMM...fantastic. Sole disappointment had to do with lack of favorite live songs (no Starz, Ava Adore, or Silverfuck), but when the crowd's into it, one has fun nontheless.

i entered the "pits" around tarantula and zero.


glass may have appeared to ruin it to you guys but down there it wasn't like there was a big circle pit and everyone froze, its seemed welcome except for the run in i/we had with a drunk guy who totally ruined most of the song. he kept acting like zero was still playing, and was humping the air. it didn't take long for this to become unbearably ubnoxious so cigarski took care of it.

anyway for what i caught i really enjoyed gatgc. home was awesome too.

i was amazed to see gossemer written in as the closer, but my girl was totally bummed after with every light because she wanted to hear today, so she got her wish and was just unbelievably excited, so i was feeding off of that. i love seeing newbie pumpkin fans get stoked, especially as first timers.

But I certainly have enjoyed the 8 shows I have seen this summer, and I'm sure Normal, IL tmrw will be great

So they added Zero, Doomsday, WEL and Today and took out Gossamer. I think I still would like to have Gossamer, but frankly, without Zero right there, I think it'd been a different show. The crowd was alive as hell for that one.

i had sooo much fun! i was in the middle towards the back, and could see just fine. when Perfect started i yelled "RYAN!". the highlights for me were Rocket & Hummer. i was not dissapointed what so ever. great show!

Very much so. As I said in this thread, I wasn't very excited. But a couple hours before the show the excitement started to creep in, and after the show I can't say I was disappointed. We rated the show a 7 afterward. I was pleasantly surprised. I am now looking forward to seeing them again soon. I need to hear Gossamer, dammit.

The only one I felt was better live was Bring the Light. I already liked United States, and that didn't disappoint either.

I guess the reason I ask is, Compared to the 2000 shows, the band had so much more energy and vibe to it. I know many are upset with the lack of darcy/james etc, but I thought the new cats filled in very well.

G+tGC was a crowd killer. I really felt (and saw as I looked down on the crowd) the energy just disappear. Personally *I* enjoyed it, because I like that song, but it definitely negatively impacted the show's energy and flow at that point. The crowd wasn't ready for a break yet.

I know there's a new record and they are promoting it, but I'm pretty sure the crowd would have loved more familiar material. Really, how many there knew Superchrist? How many thought it was just a United States reprise? How many knew Home? How many recognized the radically different G+tGC and HMM? Certainly not the majority.

With Every Light should not be an encore, if played at all. Nobody really seemed to care. If they wanted to go "light" for an encore, play something more familiar to the crowd- 33, Mayonaise (ha)... maybe even Untitled. At least that's on the GH.

And other than Bring the Light and US, to me the Zeitgeist songs weren't much better live than on the record. Hard to be positive about things you don't particularly like if they aren't much different.

So, yeah, a 7.

this is where i totally disagree with andyslash, i was in that crowd and the only thing that killed the crowd was the asshole who was trying to mosh during it. he was so fucked up and was humping the air and started to hump me so i choked slamed him to the ground and told the people around me to get him the fuck out of there. i was suprised this wasn't more visable to the people in the stands. it was a pretty big scene..

at first we were just pushing this guy off of us, then that didn't work and we really had to get physical with him. security either couldn't see it or was going to do nothing about it.

but as a crowd member i totally enjoyed glass

If you were closer than, say, 10 heads back, you just wouldn't have noticed.

It didn't just kill the crowd either, it brought the show momentum to a near halt. Up to that point I thought they'd solidly built the show up, with Tonight bringing it to that next level first, then Zero totally owning the place. I really think if they put Bullet and Hummer there, with Glass following, it would have kind of been a nice ebb and flow. But it just stopped once the trudging beat of Glass started.

I'm sorry, I know there is already a thread for this show but I really need help. I went to the show last night with my girlfriend and by the time we got out of the theater, the tickets had all been taken. It is really important to me to get a ticket. Why did they take it at the beginning? If anyone has an extra one they'd be willing to send me it'd be greatly appreciated.
