yeah ... i was a regular when i got aol 2.0 and on through the rest of the years ...

leslie's pumpkin weekly ezine was the highlight of my 9th and 10th grade years, lol.

i was SP1007 on aol.
Apathy2007 on the oboards.

i was telling stumpycat how i was such a jerk to some people on the oboard [hence me getting banned eventually], but that it's funny how it's just naturally easy to play an @$$hole on the internet. my friends off the net all thought i was the nicest guy ever... little did they know that i funneled my teen angst into volatile tirades aimed at the faceless names of strangers across the world.... ; p
i wasn't a jerk to everyone, though. i still have close, dear friends that i met on the oboards and that i still talk to. i know some people who met on there and are now married.

the pumpkins community runs thick and deep...

don't remember ben. i remember recognizing a few people from the room at the billy corgan solo show and they were acting like total self-entitled snobs. i ended up with a good crowd after the show at denny's [including shawncollectspumpkins].

Thanks for the food Davin!

It was good to meet all you guys that I ended up running into at the show.

lapis, jroiordan, and all the other "good people", you guys were great, it made the show that much more fun to be surrounded by you guys. It was cool to meet slingeroguitaro, 1100ww (even though I didn't talk to you as long as I would have liked), rumoredtothesandn, daniel, davin (thanks for the burger!!), and everyone else (non-netphorian-types)

no problem! it was cool meeting all of you too! and Andrew, Laura, Jesse, etc. !!!

like i said, no one ever did that for us in the 90's so i could relate to how starving you guys must have been.

davin good to see ya, thanks a lot for the food! I think it definitely gave us an energy burst for the show.

no worries! and no flat tires this time!

i thought he was jokingly referring to Jimmy's tambourine part in Perfect as "the best gig of his life", but i could have been misinterpreting.

this is how i interpreted it as well.

i also thought billy's comments about "you know we've released albums after MCIS" were funny too. and i also was pleased that machina1/2 got more applaus and cheering than adore.

jcc got a decent amount of cheers too....and then billy said "and i went on tour with kelly clarkson". lol.

this was the first time that i had really ever met josh. he saw that i wanted to come to the show and said he would pay for gas if i wanted to drive, so i did.

i would have hung out with you guys more, but he was a bit intimidated by the netphorians, seeing as he loves his siva and all. :)

my spot was okay. there was absolutely no engergy from my side of the stage. everybody was trying to get closer to billy. ive spent so many shows eating out of billys hand that i wanted to spend this show rockin to jeff. he seemed kind of shy that i was staring and smiling at him so much. i couldnt hear billys guitar at all, so it was a little bit different to hear jeff and lisa in great detail (not to mention i'm not deaf!). it was kind of strange.

i would have rather been in the center with you guys, but i think it was a good change.

i actually left the show kind of sad knowing that the tour is over and i don't have much to look forward to for a few months. back to normal life again.

i hope to see you all soon.

thanks for picking the food up, davin!

hey, no worries. i was happy to do it.

i hear what you are saying about the pit. it was like there was pockets of energy here and there....but the whole thing wasn't crazy. of course me and my friends were at the center of our little pocket.

we were like 12-13 people back from the rail, in the center between billy and jeff (but closer to billy). i've really found this to be the best positioning because you can hear both billy and jeff's amps very well. (JRiordan -- basically the same positioning we had at Noblesville...just a little further back). and ginger's bass fills out very well so that doesn't really matter...other than the view. ;)

i was pretty lit at the show. :D many beers in the parking lot, many at the show (i remember spending at least $32 for 4 large ones)...plus some whacky tobaccy in the smoking section...and more in the pit. :smoke: and that only fueled my craziness in the crowd even more. people around us we're looking at me like i was nuts. and my voice was totally gone the next day. i really think i should be a personal cheerleader or mascot for the band. they could hire a bunch of us to tour with them and just be placed in different areas to help get the crowd going. i know my antics definitely helped people around me get into the show as well (i was practically leading a chorus or REVOLUTION during US). A blast was had by all.

Well fuck. I didn't leave dallas til tonight. I just got a flat in waco, so I have to go 55 on a donut the whole way home to austin. I'm pretty sure everyone on i35 is gonna get pissed at me going so slow.
It could have been wose. The tire went flat because its literally splitting open... I'm not sure why. I'm just fucking glad it just went flat and didn't blow out..

FIX-A-FLAT. It saved us in Noblesville. srsly though, i drove home 3 hrs with a fix-a-flat tire...and then the next day drove 5 hours each way to detroit. well worth the risk for the first STRTJ this year and a last minute ticket upgrade. but anyway, if your tire was splitting it was probably too messed up.

anyway, point is i feel your pain. without knowing if it would hold we drove slow and stopped every 50miles just to make sure the tire was ok. so i'm glad you made it home safe...and i promise next time i'm in texas we will hopefully get a chance to grab a drink or something.

for as gay as the drummer was, the bass player was way gayer. at the austin show he had on polyester pants and some tight fitting shirt tucked in. he was straight out of miami vice.

I thought the REVOLUTION chant up front was pretty damn good, among the best I'd seen all year. I looked back once or twice and it seemed OK overall, but I can't say for sure. Though I picked WBFTT to open the show (I woulda gladly taken it at any point), United States is such a killer opener. Gets the blood boiling right away

speaking of the setlist... before the pumpkins came out, when the setlist was taped to the floor by jeff's mic stand, my boyfriend was able to zoom in with the video camera, and we could read the first 5 or 6 songs! we started to read the first 2 or 3 outloud, and some people around us were saying "keep going!" and some people were saying "no! i don't wanna know!!" haha... so we stopped reading so as not to ruin the surprise.

That's a great idea, man, and actually it's exactly what I was hoping would happen. The more different sources for different views of the show, the more interesting.

For example, I shot some video of the big screens (I think I got the entire performance of Perfect). It would be cool to occasionally switch to that, just to get a feel of different audience views.

Here are some screen caps of what I've got. No way are these high resolution, but they still look cool and would be good to use as filler on a DVD....

It was definitely a cool thing for me to be *right* up front, hugging the rail for the first time (especially since I have a chronic case of "short" working against me)...but I have a feeling that this explains why all the guitars sounded much less defined amidst all the ambient hiss and noise than even they do in the Youtube video recordings (where they actually sound spot-on.) Same thing for the light show...it definitely looks waaay more mind-blowing when you're actually a bit back from the stage itself.

...plus some whacky tobaccy in the smoking section...and more in the pit. and that only fueled my craziness in the crowd even more. people around us we're looking at me like i was nuts.
I thought I smelled a hint of funky sweet at one point...
Also on several different occasions I saw something that looked a bit like mist cloud hovering about mid-right further back in the pit, but couldn't figure what in the hell it was because I didn't smell anything in the air at all. Was that you by any chance? ;)

Exactly. Perhaps it was just mounting excitement for the Pumpkins, but as their set progressed the songs seemed to get more interesting.

DUR-DUR-DUR-DURN. HAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!!
That part's so fun. I'm glad everyone seemed to catch on.

Oh so those security guys that had come to get me and bring me back..weird. One was like "you ARE very pretty, I can see why Billy likes you" and then told me something like "it's about showing some skin"..and I was like "uh..something like that?" haha, oh creepy men. Gotta love them.
Was it that smallish, young blonde dude with a pony tail? Before the show he was conversing with the two guys beside me in the pit, telling them about how women are able to get that ever-illusive "backstage privilege" while men are out of luck. LOL

haha No but I know who you're talking about.
I believe that as far as security goes..the security guys are assigned certain positions for the night..some get in front of stage..some get backstage and so on. they are useless for the "backstage privilege" even though they like people to think they have some power. They would get fired in a heart beat if they let an "outsider" in back. When I was back there..the second I entered..some random security dude was like "who is this?!" in a rude tone, and then the security guy I was with said "this is Ashley" and then the rude one goes "oh ok." hahaa that was the coolest part to me. They were all proper to me with the "business" tone. Everyone working back there seemed completely superficial, fake, and like yes men. That must be what Hollywood's like???

if anyone else out there has any video, even if it's a bunch of really short, crappy looking clips, please pm me!!!

I was gonna contact the guy because he commented on his Google Video page that he would be happy to share the video with anyone, but I haven't done so yet.

Dude .. do you ever want to gush about something really cool but you don't want to pry open the lid and say anything?

I feel like that. I've felt like that for a few weeks.
And I can't speak to anyone here about it, but you'd all be the ones who [I believe] would care the most.

GYARGH!!!!

Not at all. This is much more of a personal thing involving one of the current Pumpkins.

Great pictures and reviews, thanks.

Is it something that Pumpkin fans would generally care about or is it as personal as something like ‘mystery pumpkin getting married/having a vasectomy/fill in the blank/etc’ type thing? Could you at least tell us who the mystery pumpkin is without giving away information?

Hmm...will we ever get to find out, at some point in the future? (And by your language, I assume this "event" hasn't happened yet...thus, why you are concerned you might "jinx" its future occurence or your taking part in it.) As long as we get to know at some point, that's all I care!

lol ... i should have never said anything in the first place.

but yeah ... if something goes down i'll probably share.

i'll say this ... one of the pumpkins and i have found something in common and i might get to show them around austin in the near future. we'll see.

he cooks, too:

that video includes a couple of clips from then opening for the pumpkins

this one is actually from dallas. this the song where the singer broke a string and had the cluster fuck of cable tangling/mic dropping. oh, there we are netphorians...there we are. good shot of all of you at the end. im the oddly huge looking dude at the beginning and end in front of the bass player.

i saw almost all of the early morning line folks there. That really tall guy near the middle (wasn't his name seth??) helped make sure I got in before all of the line breakers. Thanks, where ever you are!

i know it's been a while and some people might not be as interested anymore, but i'd still like to make a complete video for this show.
PLEASE send me your video if you have any. seriously. even if you think it's crappy. i've only gotten one source other than myself. i know there's a lot more out there.

hey i'm sorry i never sent you anything. I had a couple of really good close up short clips of drown and united states, but both were lost when my computer died soon after the show :( I didn't have a backup of them anywhere. I'm still pretty bummed about it.

I listened to Zeitgeist the other day and thought back to what Billy said after the Dallas show:

If Bleeding the Orchid were on Siamese Dream, people would think it was a classic.

Well, there is more truth to that statement than I originally thought.

hey everyone... it's been a while! i don't check netphoria often enough. i just now saw the video that SlingeroGuitaro posted where you can see us all. it brought back memories. that was a fun time. (i was the girl in the "couple from new jersey" standing next to Slingero)

I just went to both NYC shows and the Atlantic City show. They were really great. But I've been to 6 pumpkins shows now, and I think the Dallas show was my favorite overall. I don't know if it was necessarily the best show.. or just being right up front... or just being with all of you fine people... but that was a damn good time.

Ok, now I also have to brag a little bit. I got to talk to Billy face to face after the 2nd show in NYC on 11/7. I waited outside with some other people, and usually I wouldn't even try to say anything to him because everyone tries to say something to him and why would he wanna talk to me, right??

well i had gone to the midnight screening of If All Goes Wrong the night before, so i jokingly said "hey, we were hoping you'd show up at the movie theater last night" and he laughed and said "yeah, that wasn't gonna happen"...

and then he walks over to me and said "did you go??" and i told him that a few of us went, and he asked me if i liked it, and of course i told him i loved it. but i was kinda at a loss for words. totally didn't expect him to look me in the eyes and talk directly to me.

for all the gals out there... he looked so damn cute. he was wearing a monkey hat with little ears.

ok, that's all for now. just had to share my story with people who care. :)

hope you're all doing fine and having fun!

<3 Sam
