Obviously we already know that the Dallas show is rescheduled for the 18th, but here's the response from the band's management:
They are all being re-scheduled, and the dates will be posted today…
From: Andrew Fogelsong
Subject: Canceled Smashing Pumpkins shows
Obviously the Atlanta shows were canceled, but there is conflicting information(radio and venue websites) about the Austin and Dallas dates on Friday and Saturday. Are they canceled? postponed?
BTW: I have 2 seats to sell: section 203, row JJ, seats 3-2
you know since they rescheduled the show you can just get a refund? unless youre trying to help out fans first..

I think we'll definitely check out the Aquarium. Maybe the DMA or Kimball if their current exhibits are interesting.

It's not that pit tickets are *still* available, it's that they're becoming available now.
People have been sending in their tickets for a refund for one reason or another - can't make the show, don't want to go now, wasn't able to scalp for a profit, etc... As people send these tickets in to ticketmaster, TM puts them back on sale as soon as they process the ticket return/refund. I've been anticipating being able to upgrade my tickets ever since it was announced that existing tickets could be returned for a refund, checking ticketmaster twice a day and what not...

so it's pretty much a gamble then? I mean, you have to give up your ticket for a refund first, then just sort of hope that a pit ticket turns up? Or can you see what's available before getting a refund?
either way, I have at least one pit ticket, so I'm happy with that, but it would be cool if my friends coming with me could get up there as well. Hey, what time do people usually start lining up? I haven't been to a big (or medium) show in years (we don't get a lot of good stuff in north louisiana, sadly). I went to the tfe show in dallas, but got there so late i was pretty far back in line. I know big guys find it easy to work their way to the front of the crowd, but i'm never really good at that, so i'd rather just get there early enough to get to the front that way... any suggestions on when i should get to the venue would be appreciated.

a) I wouldn't see what's keeping you from buying another (better) ticket and then getting a refund on your old ticket.
b) the pit isn't very big at this venue, if it helps. Check out the venue 360° photos for a better idea. I wouldn't bother showing up more than 2 hours early but that's just me. After waiting 6 hours for the TFE show, I decided it's not worth the wait. I mean, how far back could you possibly end up, when the pit is the size it is?

At this point I think the AEG Live link you posted is just outdated info. WMMF has all the rest of the SP tour dates listed on their website, and also posted the note on their Myspace, and the Nokia Theatre website lists then.
Tonight, 11/9 was supposed to be the last show of the tour (before reschedulings), and is EITS's last show with SP. There is nothing on their website about being added to the rescheduled dates. They are listed as playing Spain on 11/21, so it's possible that it was hard/inconvenient for them to reschedule all the SP dates going up to 11/18 (Dallas tour closer).
Plus... I really doubt they'd have 2 openers.
I have never heard WMMF, so I'm open to whatever.
davin
11-09-2007, 06:56 PM
well, i'm biased and would love to EITS again...especially since i think they would be a kickass opener for SP and could get some more fans that way....but the odd thing is that the Nokia website, which NEVER mentioned EITS previously, is now listing them. I just find that to be odd (not to mention the other sites mark posted).
the reason i considered the option of 2 opening bands, is someone mentioned in the Athens thread that when they arrived the timing of the performances was all off...so i was just curious maybe that was because they started the show earlier due to adding another band.

Melodramatic, infantile, and empty bullshit. I remember they had some song that the singer called "Every Word Is Like A Dagger In My Ear", which was very fitting.
LOL, yeah that song is pretty bad. But that was later in the set. As I said, I thought the first few songs sounded OK. At the very least, they were better than what I expected considering what people on here generally say of them.
As an aside, I just listened to their Rocket cover on the ITunes Zeitgeist... I could criticize it, but there is little point, since there's no way I would like any cover as much as the original...

so since the band seems to be playing a bunch of local covers lately, what do you think we'll get? Pantera, maybe? Toadies? I can't think of any other dallas bands. I could go for a good cover of "walk". walk on home, boy.

an SRV cover would be the most logical for austin and dallas.
i was thinking this last night. what could they play? some willie song? how about fastball? maybe a los lonely boys song (even though they are from san angelo).
SRV or ZZ Top were the most logical to me.

i hope no zz top, i hate that band. SRV i could deal with, especially if they went with "life by the drop" which i love (i'm not much of a srv fan outside of that song and maybe his cover of Little Wing, but i don't have as much dislike for his music as i do for zz top). I always really loved that song 'the way' by fastball. what ever happened to that band, anyway?
I have it in my head that I heard a pantera riff at a dallas SP show back in 96, but i don't know if it really happened or maybe it was my imagination...
oh, i could definitely go for some willie, too.

No doubt there are tons of much better bands, especially in Austin. I was just thinking of bands that had hits that the rest of the country would know. Maybe they'll play a voxtrot song, lol.
So what are some really good, respected bands in your neck of the woods? I can't think of any around here (shreveport). We have shit like brooks and dunn and kenny wayne shepard. :( Oh, we have jared leto too, haha.

I wouldn't say music in shreveport is shitty, maybe just diffrent from what you personaly like. We live in the mostly rual south or "country" so most of the music is going to sound like that. I do call those pop rock country bands shit though. I agree the rock bands in shreveport are pretty shitty though. I don't like where they've been going(pop-like) with their last two albums, but ...And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead is a well-respected band from Austin. There's also Voxtrot(like you mentioned), Spoon(gag me), American Analog Set, Explosions in the Sky, and What Made Milwaukee Famous(signed to Barsuk Records, Death Cab's old label).
And that's just recent-ish bands.

Actually have you heard the peekers? they're really good. And dirtfoot is good. But yeah, I guess it's fair to say I just don't like the local stuff, it's not all shitty. I guess. Yeah, I remember that "history of rock" bullshit countdown. I recall waiting around and checking back half a dozen times a day to see the progress they were making towards SP.
As far as the cover song for the DFW show (Nokia is in Grand Prairie), my first thought was Pantera. They were from Pantego, which is a small community kind of within the boundaries of south Arlington (between Fort Worth and Dallas.) Billy did in fact play teases of Pantera on the Mellon Collie tour, as he did listen to their music back then and apparently hung out with Dimebag Darrell a few times. I was also thinking that it could be something like SRV though.

I would not mind a totally acoustic show (though obviously not happening). I've seen the face-melting rock many times, but the acoustic is only small sections of each show, so it'd be a reat treat to get more. 8/1 @ Fillmore acoustic set was so so good.

You can try...but I've heard they're pretty strict about trying to keep people in their proper places. The pit is rather limited in size here, and I guess that they had rather keep a tight reign on it than let the rest of the arena attempt to flow in when there's only a limited amount of space that has been left empty (because many people will have the exact same idea as you.)

I'll probably be wearing one of my usual tie dye shirts for this tour. Say hi to me in line and in the pit!
I haven't shaved in a few weeks, so I'm kinda shaggy-looking right now, at least by my standards.
Leaving for airport in about 4 hours... (I may need a nap while in line)

I'm considering bringing a little "NETPHORIA" sign... because I only know what a couple of you look like.
Al- I've got your number in my phone. I'll call you when I get there (or you can call me if you don't hear from me) and we'll meet up to swap tickets.

still needs some shading, such as the pick guard is supposed to be black, and the background will be darkened. Also i just noticed that where the neck connects to the body, it's supposed to wrap around it a bit, so i'll have to get them to fix that too. but it's mostly done now. hurts like fuck, not looking forward to being in the pit with it; i guess my adrenaline will keep me from feeling it, lol.

ITS ON PEOPLE!!!!! See you later today!!!
I will be in a brown Lebowski t-shirt & beige/kahki cargo pants. maybe a black outer shirt if its chilly. JR knows me, so hopefully he can introduce me to the rest of you by the time i show up.
i am also one to move freely through the pit as SlingeroGuitaro mentioned earlier, so keep your eye out and say "whats up" if you see me.

if any of you want to hang out afterwards we are going to Whisky Bar on Greenville ave.
Go north on 75, exit mockingbird ... go right oon mockingbird, then right on greenville. go until you see Taco Cabana ... park near there ... whisky bar is right across from Taco Cabana [and about 3 bars to the left].

As much as I probably should have taken a year off, I am in fact in grad school, getting a master's in music composition at the University of Louisville. Things are busy for me too, but I love the city and still manage to have a good amount of fun, soaking up Louisville culture by drinking lots of bourbon and betting on horse races.
Do you think the Nokia center will allow me to bring my camera inside? It's not a video camera or a digital camera, just a plain film camera.....
