it really wasnt talked about heavily though.. like no one really cared to try and figure out what kind of message was being put across.

But i guess it's obvious. Darcy is a dead cunt who smells like rats.

the coffin also has the old red sp heart right next to the bass. I was wondering about that too.

And notice the lady to the left is wearing a maids outfit... "cleaning up" etc.

I think it's meant to say "Okay then, that part of the band is over. No going back."

i noticed too how the photos are ordered in the book.. first it shows the closed coffin, then the funeral photos where the coffin is open.. almost like they took the closed coffin and opened it up..

if he was trying to say he's killed and buried the SP, they'd have the funeral photos first then the picture of the closed coffin.

but i've always thought it just meant "the SP you know and love is dead."

I don't think it's meant to be mean spirited whatsoever. To me, the original SP is simply being put to rest and shouldn't be forgotten. You can pay homage whenever you like, but it's time to move on. . . I'm probably reading too much into it, but oh well. It does make me feel nostalgic. ;(

i just wish they'd use that old heart instead of burying it.

i believe that the quality of the logo & the quality of the band are inextricably intertwined. if they use a better logo (i.e. the old heart instead of the zeitgeist flag), then the quality of SP2 will be dramatically raised.

I am regretting buying the special edition. I saw a regular one at the show tonight and liked that booklet mucj better than 76 pages of the same five pages over and over.

The more and more I hear about the physical album the more moronic it seems.

The read SP heart in that coffin seems to be made out of wax or something...

how tight are you with money :erm: if you're a completest keep it, but its just and extended version of the booklet in the regular version

well i'm a college student with no summer job. i'm pretty tight on money. i might as well keep it now though.

It symbollically represents the death of the old Pumpkins and the birth of Pumpkins 2, electric boogaloo.

It's perfectly possible that the rat bass belongs to Corgan, too. He did play a lot of bass on the records. Just because D'arcy played it sometimes doesn't necessarily mean it belongs to her.

He could have also gotten any old black bass and threw some rat stickers on it.

James Iha... Rest...in...peace...
Is the fact that Billy (being a well known wrestling fan) and Pumpkins are back from their ashes in the same year that Undertaker got the belt once again in Wrestlemania just a mere coincidence? I think not!

I think it's pretty respectful. It's definitely like a real funeral. You've got to mourn and pay respects to what you've lost, but you've also got to move on or you might as well just kill yourself. ha, how touching.

If it had been, like, the rat bass smashed up with little bugs crawling all over it, that would be a different picture. hahaha, but I think the ones that made it to the booklet were really touching and really good to see. It's a final good-bye to SP 1.0

It is Billy's bass. She used it during the Gish days until she got the P Bass. This has already been discussed.

Darcy's probably fine and enjoying her life out of the spot light. The awful things people say on these boards is insane. I don't know how it's allowed. It's terrible.

You mean Jazz basses...the Rat bass is a Precision. For all we know she just left it behind...not EVERYTHING is Billy's.
