View Full Version : Six weird things about moi!

6 weird things:

1. My prison/prisoner fascination. I want to visit them, work there, have an overnight experience, all of it. I'm not sure it's a socially-conscious sentiment (I've always wanted to teach creative-writing to prisoners, or work on a campaign to better their lives) -- or a romanticized idea of some movie-like jail where everyone is innocent, and inmates look like Tim Robbins in Shawshank Redemption. But it's definitely weird.

2. Odd things annoy me to the point of infuriation. Tuna fish sandwiches. Animated movies. Talking on the phone. The sound of anyone chewing anything. People who lay all the way back in airplanes. Bras that fit wrong. QVC.

3. I've never had a mosquito bite.

4. I get really turned on when a guy makes the transition from calling me Alyssa to Lys. In general, I have a name fixation. I think about people's first and last names a lot. Not that my last name is so gorgeous -- but that's probably part of the obsession. I date guys with names I like, and have a tough time getting past names I don't. It's not normal, but it's true.

5. I was once on the cover of The National Enquirer -- with Nick Lachey. In real life I was interviewing him for my job at Us Weekly, but the teenager who snapped the shot and sold it to the press didn't bother to ask.

6. My body does a few bizarre but predictable things. Every time someone plucks my in between my eyebrows I have to interrupt them to sneeze twice. I sweat thru all grey t-shirts, even if I'm freezing. And no matter how bad my insomnia, I fall asleep the second my legs enter a car.

WHAT'S THE WEIRDEST THING ABOUT YOU?

was that you? you're just a wealth of knowledge. it happened once more. it's irritating. i keep benadryl in my gym bag now. it happened several times before, too, but not as bad as that one time.

hasn't happened to me since the winter (which i've read is the most common time for it to occur)
i'd go for a run or be hiking and feel itchy, only to discover my abdomen and arms were covered in hives. initially, i freaked out and walked 45 minutes through the fucking woods back to my car and headed home, but eventually i realized that if i sat somewhere and cooled off, it would go away. sucks, regardless

Aeroplane
07-03-2007, 03:15 AM
yeah it does. freaked a bit when i thought i felt my throat closing up. but i took the benadryl and was fine.

i do this all the time. my family has this "game" where we can tell when people are about to sneeze, usually from the dumb face they make moments before, and we get in their face to keep them from sneezing. its fun when you are not on the receiving end. not being able to sneeze is terrible.

i enjoy that game. from the non-about-to-sneeze side, of course

perhaps it is actually just an excuse to get away from me

You raise a good point, but then again when is styrofoam ever in existence, and not being jostled? It seems like that stuff exists purely to make me cringe. I also can't stand the feel of it, so I refuse to touch the stuff.

Oh, and mosquitos? In one night I got something like 80 bites on each foot.

i have an irrational fear for wasps. if i see one, i run away. this sometimes results in very awkward situations, for example when i'm in conversation with someone.
