I'm trying to put together what you might consider the hypothetical 3rd disc to Mellon Collie, taking 15-20 tracks that were in close consideration to make the actual album itself, but didn't. There's not a great source of information that I've found that says word for word how close all the unreleased tracks from this era got towards being inclu ded on the album, although spfc is helping. Was wondering what opinions might be on what should be inclu ded and what shouldn't.

My list currently looks like this.

1. ...Said Sadly
2. Ugly
3. The Boy
4. Cherry
5. Believe
6. Set the Ray to Jerry
7. God
8. Mouths of Babes
9. Tribute to Johnny
10. Marquis in Spades
11. Pennies
12. Pastichio Medley
13. Meladori Magpie
14. Rotten Apples
15. Jupiter's Lament
16. Medallia of the Gray Skies
17. Blank
18. Tonight, Tonight (Reprise)
19. Infinite Sadness

I'm aware that some of these were recorded during the Siamese Dream sessions, but seeing as they were later released as b-sides to Mellon Collie singles I figured they were probably under consideration for inclusion on Mellon Collie at some point. Also a few of these later found their way onto Judas 0, so I was thinking of maybe taking them off as well.

this seems redundant since these were all released as TAFH. why not ******* billys gravity demos or the MCIS I, II, III, demos?

there's already a boot with this same name, but its basically all the pre-TAFH version of the first 4 mcis singles.

http://www.spfc.org/songs-releases/boot.html?boot_id=64

yours is remarkebly similar. and what do you mean "some of these were from SD sessions" ?

Hhhmm I had never taken a close look at the tracklisting for TAFH. Seems somewhat like what I'm looking for. I personally don't have access to any of the demos you mentioned, only fully completed but unreleased tracks. I got all my stuff from the itunes b-sides and rarities package.

I was reading that Infinite Sadness and I think Ugly were both recorded during the Siamese Dream sessions and produced by Butch Vig.

Great tracklisiting you compiled there, just haveing 3 EP's in their original order, clumped together. Creative & smart too, 'cause Pasticio Medley probably woulda made MCIS. You are not an idiot and I look forward to your future posts.

Rawk on,
Billy Corgan

Not to derail this perfectly wonderful thread, but wtf. Is there some kind of word filter I'm not noticing the checkbox for or something??? It's getting pretty annoying.

If you're gonna make a "Mellon Collie Disc 3", it'd have to have 14 tracks, for consistency. Here's my suggestion:

01 Infinite Sadness
02 God
03 Transformer
04 Marquis in Spades
05 Rotten Apples
06 Cherry
07 ...Said Sadly
08 The Aeroplane Flies High
09 Medellia of the Grey Skies
10 Mouths of Babes
11 Meladori Magpie
12 Set the Ray to Jerry
13 Tonite Reprise
14 The Last Song

I decided to specifically ******* the ones that are most tied to MCIS - Infinite Sadness, Tonite Reprise, and Medellia. I had to make some heart-wrenching cuts... I really like My Blue Heaven and Pennies, for instance. And the 5 covers on BWBW are pretty great. But I think an assortment like this would make a pretty dandy "disc three." (Starlight to Dawn? Is that cheesy enough for you?)

hah. cheesy as hell, i know. seems kind of right though, especially if you place the song in the MCIS context. but really, MCIS doesnt need a third disc, it should begin with "MCIS" and end with "Farewell and Goodnight."

oh, i just got a thought:
01 The Last Song
02 God
03 Transformer
04 Marquis in Spades
05 Rotten Apples
06 Cherry
07 ...Said Sadly
08 The Aeroplane Flies High
09 Medellia of the Grey Skies
10 Mouths of Babes
11 Meladori Magpie
12 Set the Ray to Jerry
13 Tonite Reprise
14 Infinite Sadness

I would avoid any of the cover songs they did/ Really, the only two suggestoins I have are The Areoplane Flies High (Turns Left, Looks Right) and Tribute to Johnny.

I would just keep MCIS a double album, maybe extend it to the 30 or 31 tracks Corgan originally wanted...and then replace the songs on MCIS that you don't like so much with the best from TAFH.

I think Set the Ray to Jerry, Ugly, The Last Song, The Aeroplane Flies High, and Medallia of the Grey Skies were all good enough to make the cut, at the very least. Songs like Take Me Down and Love, at least in my opinion, were the low points of MCIS.

I love it how that guy had Pastichio Medley in the middle of his CD. I hope his CD player breaks and he will never be able to skip it.

9. Pennies

It seems to me that MCIS could possibly have been just as consistant on three disks, I love some of the b-sides that much.
