I captured it thinking it would save me the trouble of downloading it...and then MTV cut the end of their broadcast. :D

Would it help at all if I also put the file on my roomate's computer if we are connected through the same internet connection? Im guessing not, but I thought Id ask cause my computer says "average of 12.29% done".

edit - as in, is there anything i can do in terms of seeding that would make it faster for people? Im in no hurry...I got alllll the time in the world. ;)

If anyone wants to try their luck with the other .asf rip that got uploaded:

http://sendbigfiles.com/download.php?id=1D1FDA7E1

^ That is the source that a kind Russian posted in the official webcast thread. The site was too busy earlier but it's working for me now. Still will take several hours to download.

Unless your roommate has his own personal internet connection coming in to the house, no it will not help. ;)

I assume you two are both plugged into the same router or else using wireless from the same base connection

Thanks for seeding!

For instant satisfaction, we must give all credit to SearchForChurch from the official webcast thread (http://forums.netphoria.org/showthread.php?t=141753&page=63):

"hello again, my friends!
i've re-uploaded the video again to mediafire, and i hope now you won't have any troubles with downloading:

http://www.mediafire.com/?2d5yqlfj3x1

http://www.mediafire.com/?2ad5qdfwx1j
http://www.mediafire.com/?229tfxwkwne
http://www.mediafire.com/?bndkdwgzzkl

Total file size is the same - 643.55 MB

Enjoy "

^ You need to get WinRAR (http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm) and then just download the 7 files above. Right click on the first file and say "Extract here". It will join the 7 files into the original .ASF video file. I finished this process in about 15 minutes thanks to the incredible download speeds that I enjoy from Mediafire. Your results may vary.

that just means that everyone else is at about 40%. there is only one person who has the whole hting, and he can't upload very fast. Previously you could download from everyone, but now you can only download from the first person, so you will download slowly now that you caught up with "the pack"

I wish I could open the gates of heaven for ya'll! ;)

Big thanks to everyone who captured the show. :D

The copy from the sendbigfiles link is great. Didn't have to re-rar it or anything. Use Download Accelerator or something like that for best results.

I look forward to a DVD of the whole show whenever we can definitively sort out the issues of quality and completeness.

any compression program that recognizes rar should be able to joiin them.

so guys -- if i join the rars and get the whole asf, do you think i can drop that into my torrent directly and instantly jump to 100% to help finish the seed of the slow-running torrent? would that work?

Very altruistic of you, but someone on the official webcast thread (the 2000+ posts one) tried this and it didn't work. He said the file sizes were off slightly. That is supposed to happen with RARing files, so he could have made a mistake. Not sure.

I would try it myself, but I have all my bandwidth going to Sebastian's MTV version.

Anyone who hasn't started downloading the webcast yet should definitely get the mediafire links and not bother with this torrent. But it's nice for everyone who is on the torrent to be able to finish.

it looks like a 768k stream capture based on file size, I would guess yes.

The actual specs are...
Audio: Windows Media Audio 48000Hz stereo 128Kbps [Raw Audio 0]
Video: Windows Media Video 9 512x288 25.00fps 570Kbps [Raw Video 1]

(If it's the same as the version posted by SearchForChurch above - the file size says it is).

Thanks!

As long as someone else who completed the download is still connected to the torrent, then everyone else can finish from that person. It is "ethical BitTorrent practice" to stay on a torrent at least until your ratio is 100%, i.e. you've uploaded just as much as you downloaded. But of course it's better to stay longer if you can

^ Y'all may want to try the original link for the complete .ASF file that was posted:
http://sendbigfiles.com/download.php?id=1D1FDA7E1

It shows 668 downloads, so it's working for some people. Will not be as fast as Mediafire, so just let it run for a while.

BTW the Mediafire links were removed for violation of their terms of service.

Luke de Spa
06-06-2007, 01:08 AM
is that the same file or somebody else's stream? people are having problems with it (e.g. in the middle of "today") regardless of whether it came from the torrent or mediafire.

JRiordan
06-06-2007, 03:04 AM
Kind Russian Netphorian "SearchForChurch" first posted the above link at sendbigfiles.com. But the speeds were terrible at first and most people couldn't even connect to the site because it was so swamped. So he then RARed the file into chunks and uploaded to Mediafire. Theoretically the un-RARing into the .ASF should produce the exact same file as his original post.

I know that I gave the MF links to others who downloaded, watched, and had no complaints. So I'm not sure what the problem is for some people.

If I weren't still in my "Zeitgeist hunger strike", I would watch my file to see if it actually plays correctly, because at this moment I have no idea. I only watched the intro with that hilarious Thorsten guy.
