Many thanks!
I would second the request for the webstreamed Gossamer to perhaps be placed on the DVD as an extra though. Forgive my ignorance if this isn't possible, but I haven't seen any of the show yet as I just got in from the pub, and from what I've just read on the board it'll be awful to see the show so cruelly chopped up at the end.

It's possible. It would also be possible to sync the audio from the webcast if it turns out to be mixed better. The verdict is still out on that since no one has commented who has seen/heard both.

Just so everyone gets it again: Sebastian requested that his source not be mixed with the webcast. If there is a different high quality capture (I know there is at least one VHS source, I'm sure lots of people got it on DVR), then it could be mixed with one of those if permission is gotten.

New Art Rioter

Fair enough re. not mixing sources - an understandable point.

Perhaps someone would care to chop out Gossamer from the webstream version and post that on its own? That way everyone would be happy. The speed of all these uploads is greatly apprieciated however, and by no means do I wish to be greedy. It's superb to have such a quick turnaround.

Also Sebastian - is there any degradation in quality from your transfer? Your source says "Digital TV (DVB-S) > Nokia d-box 2". I'm not familiar with Nokia d-box 2. Sounds like a DVR in which case it should be a lossless recording, right?

Either way thanks again, just wondering if it is possible for there to be anything with higher quality than this source, since you mentioned that someone else's could come out in the coming days, weeks, months.

i THINK rockpalast is better quality.. i downloaded a dvd from placebo at rock am ring last year, and this is what someone commented about MTV compared to rockpalast(WDR) versions..
--------------
What I can´t understand Is that kind of race uploading the MTVs versions of the shows knowing that they are inferior quality in both image and sound, making a lot of people to download twice or having only the poor quality version, not the good one.
--------------
so i'm guessing WDR is better.. not sure about specs etc though..

Yeah, the Rockpalast broadcasts are usually around 6 Mbit/sec and at full DVD resolution, while MTV only broadcasts at around 2.5 Mbit/sec and a lower resolution.
I can't understand the problems that some people have. Nobody is forced to download something twice.

I believe Rockpalast is the name of the tv show. WDR sounds like it might be the name of the tv station.
As far as I know, it is not yet confirmed that they will also broadcast this show. And if they do, if it will be the complete show.
If you want to avoid downloading redundant dvds, I think the best thing to do right now is to wait a couple of days to see what comes up.

I finished downloading and am watching it right now.
When Ginger and Jimmy start into today it just sounds incredibly good, the lights go on, the crowd is jumping and Billy can`t stop smiling, that`s an amazing moment and I remember the goosebumps I got yesterday while watching it live.
Everytime I see this part I can`t stop smiling myself.
It`s good to see Billy smiling and such a positive response from the festival crowd that gave such a bad response in 2003 when Billy was on stage with Zwan.

Would XviD or DivX work for you? If so, use AutoGK (http://www.autogk.me.uk/index.php?name=Downloads&d_op=viewdownload&cid=1) to convert the VOB files to XviD/DivX. I've used it many times myself.

btw.. checking the rockpalast tv-guide (http://rockpalast.de/sendetermine/?jahr=all),
it would appear that no Pumpkins will be broadcast during the two highlight-shows.
No biggie as for example Evanescence gets only one song, but has a broadcast scheduled
for them and 30 SECONDS TO MARS shortly after.

A few "open slots" are listed, simply called Rock am Ring 2007:

These are usually shared between two acts, so about 45 min each.
Obviously, they might elect to give Pumpkins a full broadcast, as they have done
selectivly to other bands in the past. I haven't counted the exact length,
but I supose the complete concert is about 1h45min, so it's not really a stretch
from their regular programming block.

Regardless of what they might air or not right now, they tend to fit in Rock am Ring
throughout the year and especially during the winter/spring -period.

So if they have any intention whatsoever of broadcasting the complete concert,
beyond what they recorded for the webcast, it'll show up at the latest next spring.
