here we are upon this stage

to me...this means that billy is really trying...hes still here with us...hes still trying to make us happy with his rock...his guitars...his writing...even tho sometimes i think its to much for him...maybe not to much...but just not his calling...he wants to be happy...maybe that kind of music doesnt make him happy anymore...but what do i know...(apparently nothing)

(flames are welcome).

<blink>Baby, baby take a look at me
I see your long legs riding your Lee's
I see your hair has energy
My dick is turnin' into a tree

I got the top down on my cadillac
My Stooges T-Shirt is ridin' my back
Rock critics wouldn't like this at all
I guess my faith is ridin' my balls

You can't tell me this is not a suave thing to do
You can't tell me 'cause I know you'd do it too

I'm trollin'
We're trollin'
Baby I'm trollin'
Baby we're trollin'

Hey baby, consider me
I am as lonely as I can be
I've bread given and I've read sod
I've played with rockers and I've played with mods

My mind is blown and nothin' is true
The ones who don't know always say they do
There's a reason when you gotta look
It's the action and never the book

You can't tell me this is not a suave thing to do
You can't tell me 'cause I know you'd do it too

I'm trollin'
I'm trollin'
We're trollin'
We're trollin'
Baby we're trollin'
Lookin' for somethin'
I'm trollin' baby
We're trollin' baby
We're trollin'
Trollin'
Trollin'
Trollin'
Trollin'
Trollin'</blink>

Everybody knows that this song is about Billy's ex-girlfriend being bitchy while on the rag.

there was this band call 'Buzzhorn' that I have thought sounded like the pumpkins on occasion, especially this song called 'Rhino' (go figure)

I seriously think 'Bleed the Orchid' sounds a lot like 'Rhino.' The chorus is very similar.

I will try to rip it and post it soon...

Oh yeah, 'Buzzhorn' is super Christian (just to stir the fire :D)

someone mentioned that this song seems to be about the 90s "grunge" scene.

I got the sense that it was about environmental issues..."blood from a stone...we're bleeding the orchid." Like we're squeezing life juices from the Earth.

Still, I'm sure a look at the lyrics will show that there are multiple ways to interpret the song, which I hope is the case, for that, perhaps, would indicate some thought went into their writing.

the second new song the pumpkins played live...
interesting...
I love this song...
can't wait for the studio version....

i have no idea what some of these lyrics are so it would be foolish to try and guess what its about, and since I'm a fool: I think this is another song about billy, his fans and his music....the exploson of alt and grunge, the way the music scene that a lot of the early 90's band were from was kind of a reaction against pop musical culture at the time, but alt/grunge became what was popular and it chnaged the dynamic of the scene and was one of the reasons in 2000 I think Billy quit the pumpkins originally...maybe he felt like the whole rock/alt/grunge scene had lost its integrity, there was no real edge, no real meaning to the music anymore, people used to start grunge and punk bands to go against social norms, now people were atrting punk and grunge bands with the sole purpose of getting famous and making money...all the bands on the radio were either products fo disney pop production or Nirvana-wannabes....so the same scene that they helped create, eventually swallowed them whole...
but now they are back "bleeding the orchid" so to speak...
ressurecting the music that they hold sacred and dear to their hearts...
for you and me and all the pumpkins fans still out there...
but he knows people are going to judge what he is doing, he's judging what he is doing...
I think music is truly what Billy's calling is...but I think he views it much differently than he once did....
and how can he get his fans to see it the way he does?
can he make them believe in what he is doing again?
will anything he does ever be good enough for them?
it must be hard to be an artist when your soul leads you one way, but your fans try to pull you the other way...
maybe he shouldn't care what his fans think....
but he does...
can he as an artist effect people the way he once did, while maintaining a degree of artist integrity....
walking the razor's edge....

lol....maybe I'm looking too deeply into it....
maybe I should just wait for the album....

I think this snippet supports your argument pretty well...I could definitely see, and like, this reading of the song.

I love Bleeding the Orchid as well. It's my favorite off of Zeitgeist so far. That's the Way, oddly, is growing on me too.
