it seems some of the bands (linkin park being one) have opt'd out of the webcast there, does that bode ill for the pumpkins performance?

Yes, they got very popular with their second album in Europe.
3,5 years ago I saw them in a 400 people venue, last year they played a venue of 8000 people... :erm:

If you go to http://www.mtv.de/rockamring2007/tv.php it shows which bands are being broadcast on MTV, which *******s SP.
At the bottom of MTV.de, it says "click here to see the shows live on the net" (loose translation).

Here we go:

All you need is a tiny utility for downloading audio and video streams called WM Recorder.

1. You can download it here - http://www.mediafire.com/?ekszdchvmmc (crack in_cluded, my antivirus said that there's a trojan in this file, but i just deleted it and evetything went ok).

2. Install and specify the folder where the recordings will be saved

3. In the main window, see the "URL" input field & paste this address there: http://127.0.0.1:6498/ms/asf/WDR.rockamring/WDRrockamring?MSWMExt=.asf

4. In the "FILE" field, type smth like this: RockAmRing.asf
any name can be used as you can guess, but the extension MUST be .asf

5. Click the "Record" button: a recording window will open where you can see download status.

6. When you're finished, click "Stop" button in the main window.

So, that's it! Enjoy! ;)

It's awesome to listen to good music while watching these bands.

For example: I am listening to Marquee Moon. If only Television were this popular.

Funny they do remind me of the bosstones. I actually bought one of the bosstones' CDs once, they had some catchy trumpet melodies but each song was ruined by one thing or another.

God I would hate to actually be at the festival. These are the most annoying bands to have to sit through for the Pumpkins. It's like when I saw Zwan in 2003 and had to listen to Boxcar Racer and New Found Glory. The only good part about the whole show was the fact that in the middle of the festival, James Brown did like a five song set. That was incredible.

i was at this show as well, it was great to the vines and queens of the stone age though....the coldplay set was spot on as well

my ears have never rung so bad after show in my life

I went to google the band playing and was confused when nothing came up in relation to "The Bat Sticks"

Oops, Senior moment!

I was late to the show so I missed most of the Vines' set. I'm not a huge QOTSA fan, although they seemed okay. Kind of gave me a headache with the constant flashing lights.

And Coldplay, well Coldplay is kind of gay.
