Let's face it, a band can't have a return to massive popularity in the rock business without putting out music that brings in new fans and 95% of the time that means that they must appeal to youth (barring an unusual case like Eric Clapton). When an established band who is trying to return to prominence is successful at appealing to youth (i.e. new fans from the current generation of youngsters), a lot of their old fan base are guaranteed to be pissed off. Why? Because the band in question has to produce music that will play on the radio today and that involves changing their style and it brings accusations of "selling out." I'm calling this the Aspergers syndrome.

Basically, if Billy Corgan tries to appeal to the current younger generation he is guaranteed to suffer from the Aspergers syndrome, IMHO.

billy probably has it. we talk about this like every 4 months but oh well.

alot of people with really bad or strange social skills, lack of concern about appearence, (bald head is a typical move by males with the syndrome), they usually excell at certain tasks or skills.

alot of doctors here at the U of I have the condition, but they are just brillant doctors, just don't know how to relate to people.

its a type of autism

I have that diagnosis, although it's blatantly wrong. Still, I do know an awful lot of words.

Basically.

I've had classes with a few kids who have Aspergers and they are pretty obnoxious.

Like they don't realize it though...
Really kinda funny at times.

weird people with brains.

these categories exist so that the psychologist has a foundation to treat and approach. if the subject or client or whatever doesn't have an issue with his condition or disorder, then thats fine. but whatever they are suffering, psychologists can look at it without being clueless on the etiology or approach.

anti social personality disorder i mean thats one that some people just deal with it. some others don't want to. see other people having normal relationships and social skills and wanting that for them selves.

on topic:

you forget that billy has changed his sound with every album.
challenging old fan and winning new ones at every step

if anything he's behaved in a calculated manner to maintain longevity
even if it requires moments of obscurity

oh clearly they are. the diagnosis resonates in billy's pedantic obsession with dinosaurs.

one of the major regrets in my life is forgetting to check the "see who voted for what box" while making this thread, so that we all might get to see which motards voted for "NO, THE PUMPKINS WILL NEVER BECOME AUTISTIC"

Asperger has nothing to do with your explanation, in sort its part of the Autistiform-spectral Disorder (or whatever it's called in english)

you could compare it with Autism, but people with Asperger have higher verbal IQ's... so where Autistics fail in empathy, Aspergers don't have the ability neither to place themselves in other people's shoes (they don't have a 'theory of mind') but because of their high level of verbal intelligence they are often able to understand social interactions through understanding the context (not the individual's motives and feelings)... therefore you could call it High -functioning autism

their IQ's allow them to gain strategies and coping-mechanisms to adapt themselves still quite well to social stiuations, but they can't understand someone's feelings

Yeah... My husband had a classmate in his Arabic class that has severe Asperger's. I went to their class party at the end of the semester and saw him sing an entire song in Arabic (this was a first semester class). The guy is a fucking genius, but you wouldn't know it from talking or looking at him. It can be super uncomfortable if you're alone with him and there's no one else to distract him... He's a weird dude, for sure.

Didn't Einstein have Asperger's? Or someone else famous for their brains?
