And I hate myself for not really caring.

http://pc.ign.com/objects/850/850126.html

I think it's because in ninth grade I still cared, but after five or six years of rumors it lost its magic. Plus, it looks identical to WC3, except they'll just bump up the max unit counts and decrease unit HP.

i'm pumped that they actually came out and said they are making it.
i'll be getting a new computer soon so naturally i'll have to get SC2.

the release date will still be 2014 though :erm:

IGN postulated that this means Diablo 3 will be coming out anytime between now and 2017. I'll be 33 if it comes out in 2017. I hate fucking Blizzard.

"Blizzard is developing StarCraft II for simultaneous release on the Windows® and Macintosh® PC platforms. Further information about the game, including details on the single-player, multiplayer, and map-editor features, as well as system requirements, pricing, and availability, will be announced in the months ahead. To learn more about StarCraft II, please visit the official website at www.starcraft2.com. "

how can they predict system requirments for a game that will be released in 7 years? that's ridiculous, where does it say that they plan a release date that far ahead?

"StarCraft 2 will release when it's ready, says Blizzard."

I mean this is how Blizzard rolls. SC2 has been in development since 2003. Goddammit. That's four years. It probably won't be out until 2009-2010. I actually hate Blizzard. I could raise a child in the time it takes them to make two games and an expansion pack.

i think the balancing process is really hard, i wouldn't like to try and make a decent balance with three factions that are very different and then will be tested by thousands of people who're just looking for flaws that they can use to win multiplayer games.

yeah but it's like, at some point you have to stop fucking with it. it won't be perfect, there are just too many factors. they perpetually fuck with WoW; every patch, a class is tweaked. I'm sure they could have sat on WoW for another year or two, messing with the balance, but they were like, fine we'll just patch it. you can patch this game too, Blizzard. stop being tightwads.

dean_r_koontz

perhaps they want it to be as close to perfect as they can make it in order to just let it sweep away all the other games like warcraft 3 and starcraft that should have a lot of the proffessional gamers in its grip right now. that process might be slowed down quite a lot if they use the patch release system. having large tournaments etc with a game that has huge balance flaws isn't really desirable i think.

Guess what the reason this shit takes so long WOW. Why make a stand alone game when you can get millions of people to pay 50$ for the game then 14$ a month to play it. How people put up witht hat for a pretty average gme is beyond me. If I'm paying monthly I should no thave to pay up front.

dean_r_koontz

yeah but that's such an obvious reason that it hardly have to be said. there are different factors behind the long development process for this game.

Blizzard relies on the same customers to keep buying their product.

SC2 would end WOW as we know it. blizz is all about money.
There is no way they are about to rupture their drones' subscriptions. its EZmoney.

the graphics look like WC3. they obviously have had the ability to make the game.
timing is everything.

The only RTS style games I play nowadays are the total wars. I dunno I've played all the blizzard and westwood classics, beat them all and I'm not getting c&c 3 and I most likely won't get this. The only one that's caught my attention in a while is supreme commander which won't run properly even on my dad's mega crazy awesome computer.

Oh man I used to be so pro in Age of Empires 2. I remember I beat some 17 year old who was really into the whole online gaming scene back when I was 9 and he thought I was some kind of genius or something. I really wasn't I just played as japan and loaded 6 castles with archers and made them have sooo much range. Whenever he'd send seige weapons against me I'd send out my 45 fully upgraded samurai and pumped them out of the castles to make up for any losses.

I also liked playing as goths cause their husklars or whatever their special unit was called could be pumped out of barracks so quickly. Pretty much you could create an endless stream of attackers if you had the resources.

i'm a turnbased masterNaw, that was the great thing about AoE 2 it was as turnbased as baldur's in the sense that you could pause the game and issue out all your commands and then unpause.
