I am in dire need of some new movies to watch. Everything I have I've either already seen or already seen a hundred times. Not that I don't appreciate the endless replay value of some select films, but please, for the love of all that is holy-- What was the last good movie you rented or downloaded?

Speaking of anime we just finally watched Akira! Great movie.

The only movies I've seen recently are all old. We've got 28 Days Later to watch cuz Mark said I'd like it. We haven't watched a movie in a long time it seems, aside from Akira.

do NOT watch irreversible unless you want to cry. the rape scene was too much for me and had me bawling uncontrollable. alex was really sweet about it, too. i dont think he even watched it when i wasnt home. it was such a repulsive and unnecessary film. yes! rape happens. and lots of other bad things too. but i dont need to see them displayed so graphically in front of my face. if i did. then i'd become a gangster or try and get myself raped. whatever. it's just sickening to even think about. people are so in love with that movie because it is SO shocking or whatever they say. it's stupid! thats what it is. stupid.

last movie i watched was taxi driver. it came on television the other day. now there is some violence i can appreciate.

I work at a movie store. I will try to help.

The fountain just came out, which is one of my all time favorite movies. It's amazing. Pan's Labyrinth came out is well which is also a favorite.

If you liked fear + loathing, or if you love Hunter S Thompson as much as I do, check out where the buffalo roam, a 1980 HST movie, bill murray plays him. not as good as F+L, but still very funny.

The last king of scotland was amazing too, blew me away.

I always hated Leo DiCaprio, ever since Titanic, but then I watched the Aviator and he earned my respect and totally blew me away. He's amazing in it. Gangs of new york isnt bad either.

basquiat is probably one of the best movies out there.

desperate living is amazing, by john waters, the guy who did pink flamingos. I LOVE this movie. It is fucked up and awesome.

party monster is interesting.

four rooms is good.

I can think of a million more, but i'll stop now

the fountain was really weird. i hated and liked it at the same time - it looks great, is a beautiful movie to watch visually but the lead characters plotline was cheesy and too drawn out. worth it to watch (preferably on a big screen) but plotwise it was a little meh. except for the last portion, the rest of the movie trudged on, even if parts of it was visually interesting.

The scene when he finally plays the guitar for his girl is spectacular, though.

"dark city"

Seconded. Great movie plotwise and amazing visually to boot.

Um, I haven't watched many movies recently but I usually always recommend The Salton Sea and The Victim. The first one is neo-noir and the second is a kung-fu movie that is probably the most unintentionally hilarious movie I have ever seen for so many reasons.

Pan's Lab, overall, was a just okay movie with a smattering of really great scenes, I thought. I dunno why everyone and their grandma are simultaneously shitting their drawers over what a spectacular movie it is.
