View Full Version : Update on San Francisco Filmore Shows
bardy 05-08-2007, 03:07 PM I received this email from Pollstar today:
Hi Brady:
Thanks for the email.
We were scratching our heads about that string of dates as well. Here's what's going on...
The Pumpkins record label sent us an update late last week listing the Fillmore dates and a note saying the dates would be officially announced on Monday, May 7 and go on sale Sunday May 13. The label also asked us to hold off from listing the Fillmore dates until May 7.
We posted the dates yesterday (Monday) morning.
However, by the end of the day we noticed that other music news Web sites had yet to mention the Fillmore dates. What's more, we still hadn't received that announcement that was supposed to take place Monday morning.
We called LiveNation and Pumpkin's management company and received slightly different answers from both. However, what I'm about to tell you is in the plans, as of May 8.
First of all, both management and Live Nation say the Smashing Pumpkins will probably play the San Francisco area during that time period - mid to late July.
Management says the shows will probably happen as originally listed, and will take place at the Fillmore as planned. LiveNation says the venue may be, or may not be the Fillmore.
So that is where it stands as of Tuesday morning. We've removed the dates, but we expect to see a revised San Francisco listing for the Pumpkins within the next few days.
All the best,
Jay Smith

Indeed, and I'm amazed that the SP braintrust has their heads up their arses like this. Wait, no, not really.
Starla 05-08-2007, 03:11 PM The Fillmore is such a small venue. At the very least they could have chosen the warfield...
Starla 05-08-2007, 03:12 PM I'm going to Seattle. Fuck SF.
Dogfighter28 05-08-2007, 03:14 PM they are playing seven dates in the seventh month of the seventh year

are you retarded?<font color=black.</font>
monkeyfritters 05-08-2007, 04:47 PM the SF dates are a diversion aimed at drawing attention away from the Music Garage fiasco. They know the only real heavy hitter on here is Whatcolor and that he's from SF. Now he's facing an existential crisis trying to decide whether or not to go to the shows and has subsequently been neutralized.
markpregen 05-08-2007, 05:06 PM pollstar never answers my email

I've only been to Warfield in SF (fantastic). Fillmore... here we come
JRiordan 05-09-2007, 01:05 AM And thanks for posting that email, great job
enthusaroo 05-09-2007, 01:08 AM If I'm in the U.S during that time, I'd like to check them out in San Francisco.
Quiet CD 05-09-2007, 03:23 AM It would be one of the best moves the band has done since the reformation. The Fillmore is such a great venue... the Warfield is utter crap.
Quiet CD 05-09-2007, 03:23 AM One show at GAMH would be fucking nuts though, thats probably my favorite venue on the planet.
IWishIWasBlank 05-09-2007, 08:44 AM In this case I find it totally unfair to blast Brady. She's the only one to post anything with a source in quite a while around here.

I very much enjoyed the 2 Warfield shows I saw last December. No complaints here about that venue. But GAMH does look aewsome. Wanted to see Pearl Jam there last summer, didn't happen though

Pearl Jam played at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium. GAMH=Great American Music Hall
