This has probably already been posted, but I just thought I would share in case it hasn't.
I apologize if everyone has already seen it!

Development
The first mention of a Smashing Pumpkins reunion was in a full-page advertisement bought by Billy Corgan in the June 21, 2005 issue of Chicago Tribune, announcing his intentions to reunite the band. Later that year the reunion was made official, and in 2006 the band began recording material.
Although of the original band members only Billy Corgan and Jimmy Chamberlin officially reunited, they may be joined by others. Former Hole bassist Melissa Auf der Maur, who replaced D'arcy Wretzky on bass for the Smashing Pumpkins' last tour, stated that "My services are always there to play my favorite songs. If D'arcy [Wretzky] is not available, I'm always happy to be second in line."Former Jane's Addiction bassist Eric Avery was also once connected to the reunion when a Polar Bear fan-site stated that Avery was joining the Smashing Pumpkins, though this statement was later retracted. In April, Iha confirmed that he was not taking part in the reunion. Other rumored members are bassist Ginger Reyes (ex-Halo Friendlies) and guitarist Jeff Schroeder (ex-The Lassie Foundation).
Jimmy Chamberlin has called the album "magnificent", and said of the album's development that "We are moving along nicely in the studio. pulled off a magnificent guitar symphony last night and it is still ringing in my ears this morning. Eight guitars resonating in one big harmonic handshake! And the drums [...] of course!"
On March 31st, 2007, Ben Lee announced on his weblog that work on Zeitgeist was complete, stating:
[B]“ [I] went to the Smashing Pumpkins album-wrap party and heard their awesome newie. Seriously, the heaviest and most intense thing they have ever done. Really exceptional. Sounds like the world needs a record like that right now. :D
