Will the Pumpkins play any UK dates, other than Reading?
Their schedule doesnt look too rammed so perhaps a London show might happen - anyone heard anything?

I doubt it would be between Paris and Brussels...I think they will play the UK in August..leading up to the 2 festival dates at the end.

I went to see Placebo at Wembley Arena, i think it was the day of the first london meetup...i have never ever ever ever seen a worse crowd. Placebo were hardly awesome but the crowd was fucking appaling. The smaller venues in London are quite good and the crowd can be ok but the larger ones the crowd invariably sucks.

I have bene to two gigs and camden in small venues, and they where ok..but Brixton academy which I have seen 5 or so gigs at for example has always had the most dull crowds....
I might be moving to london in a few months, and i'm not looking forward to the shitty gig situation

The crowds were pretty great for the last two Pumpkins shows in London, and they were at Wembley (an awful venue!)
The same however, can not be said for the crowd at the Forum for Billy's solo endeavour

i wa sin the front row and there was no atmosphere from the crows really for both nights..was odd!!
I saw a gig in france last year at the Chatelet Theatre in Paris... that was a wild wild crowd. Brilliant.

Guys, you should experience a German crowd, you`d feel like being on a funeral...I really liked the crowd of the Pumpkins show in London 98

Everyone is right about london crowds , they are truely awful.
Hopefully they make a quick stop in glasgow, the barrowlands perhaps .
That would be class , you cant beat a gig there with a big stick.

that is correct. the barrowlands is the best venue in the world. no doubt if they don't play the shitty SECC it will be the Carling Academy though!

Aye
no doubt tho they'll be on to the big venues by the time they hit here. It will be the awful SECC & a flock of 12 year old MCR fans with their mums waiting for them outside :noway:
The Carling almost seems quite good compared to that , even if it is the most sanitised non-atmospheric shithole in town .
Coupled with the fact they are trying to screw the barras out of buisness at the moment by telling bands if they play there they cant play the other carling venues in the UK

so speaking of Reading, when can we expect tickets to be dispatched? I got my confirmation email, my credit card was charged, but approximately when do the tickets get shipped?
Anyone else here going...or familiar with how this works?

I got an email a few days ago saying my reading Sunday ticket had been delayed, but my Leeds Friday ticket I guess will be coming soon. You live in the US though yes? I would assume they dispatch them to the US at the same time but i cant be sure...I doubt they will be too long.

i'm hoping they play a date anywhere in the northwest, midlands or yorkshire so i don't have to travel to london.
davin: i have a one-day ticket for leeds on friday and haven't heard anything yet about when it will be dispatched. by brother's gf bought it for me as i couldn't get through, so hopefully they won't split up until i get hold of it!

good to know. so i guess i should move ahead with my planning...i mean, the charge to my card means i definitely have them right?
i just don't like the way the status page says "We are waiting for these tickets to come into stock, when they arrive we will send to..." :Skeptical :Skeptical :Skeptical It makes me think of the phrase "out of stock"....though i hope/assume it is just semantics, and what they really mean is "they will be sent later after they are printed".
New Art Rioter
04-15-2007, 07:44 AM
It'll be fine. From their end the later they send them the better, as it means fewer problems with lost tickets, etc. I'll be working the festival this year but have been several times before in the past, you def. have your tickets :)
Hope you enjoy it!

Yes so am i but i cant say im thrilled with the rest of the line-up. NIN are insane but apart from that...its like ok Lost Prophets and +44...similar to karioke night at a gay bar.

yea, i will probably only attend for NIN & SP. I dont; mind LCD SoundSystem, they are especially fun live, but I will have seen them at Lolla and Banaroo by that time, so time will probably be better spent doing other "vacation stuff". Reading will be my 2nd-to-last night of a 12-day trip to the UK.

good point about getting a good spot, though "the front" wouldn't be my goal...we will definitely show up early enough to get a good spot.
As far as the rest of the trip goes, we will either be in Ireland (Dublin, Dingle Penninsula, Cliffs of Moher, Aran Islands)....or Scotland (Edinbugh, Loch Ness, Inverness, Highlands) for the first half of the trip.....and definitely in England for the 2nd.
Still alot of details to plan, which is why I wanted to get started asap. we want to take-in some touristy as well as non-touristy stuff. The plan for England is a little more tought-out -- in addition to Reading, we're planning on going to Bath, Birmingham, Stone Henge, and of course London.
Need to decide on Scotland vs. Ireland soon. I feel there's like more we want to see in Ireland, but travel accommodations are slightly easier/cheaper if we choose Scotland. Afterall, Scotland doesn't involve additional ferry or air travel like coming from Ireland would.

Shinobi VS Dragon Ninja wasn't bad by LP, but then again I heard only one other track, and it sucked. That'll be a bummer once Trent and Billy are done.

Yeh LP got the crowd going a bit during last train home a few years ago...but i hear they've gone downhill since.

Sounds like its gonna take plenty of $$$ overall.

I am not sure about your usual domestic German crowd, but the idiots you export to the shows in Prague and CZE are the worst thing, ever. Loud, drunk, pushing, acting as if everything belonged to them - sometimes it looked like they mistook the concert with a football match.

no worries, i got it covered. :mrpimp:
like i said, we were already planning for a holiday to Europe...so the only real additional expenses so far are the Reading Tickets (which i have already paid for).
The decision on ireland vs. scotland will ultimately come down to where we would rather visit anyhow....rather than price.

Castlemilk is the most awesome tourist attraction iv ever been to. Have you seen the weapons they've got down in the armoury? And the views from the ramparts? Iv got to make another trip to scotland. That castle is drenched in history.

yep it played an important role in the wars of independence. It son that 5 quid note with robert The bruce, or is it wallace?
Oh, and you need to visit the Raploch if you get to Stirling. beautiful views of the castle from there, and pretty pleasant for a picnic.

woah thanks for the info guys!
I think maybe we are leaning towards scotland afterall!! like i said, it makes the inter-UK travel so much simpler being able to travel to England by rail and not have to take a ferry or inter-UK flight because of crossing the Isle of Man.
any other places you guys reccommend? preferably stuff that is different than stuff we would see in England. For example, how is Castlemilk comapred to the Tower of London?
