if it's extra lean ground beef i leave it, but if i'm cooking with medium, it's just too much grease and i'll drain.

You've probably already decided that you won't like it even if it tastes better... so what does it matter? You won't die if you eat it so be happy that someone is making you food.

oh shut up duovamp.

i just add the tomatoes and tomato sauce after i drain the meat, but she got ragu which is fine with me

i drain the grease, then dump out the meat onto a plate covered with a paper towel, then put some paper towels on top and press all the grease i can into the paper towels

then i put the meat into the sauce

=[

I wasn't trying to be mean, I just naturally type in that sort of tone. Sorry. Anyhow, I'm sure it won't taste too noticeably different anyhow. I WISH I were eating spaghetti tonight, you should be happy.

ok you're forgiven.

i'm just used to a totally different style of cooking. more tomato based, but she adds all kindsa like onions and bell peppers and those just make me all gassy :-(

yeah I would generally add onions, garlic, a bit of extra seasoning to the sauce. as for draining, depends on how much grease is there. a little can add flavor but a lot is gross.

oh but i'm gonna eat it and be thankful anyway.

onion, carrot, celery, pancetta, garlic, chilli, mushrooms, spinach, olives, wine, milk, seasonings ... all standard additions in my ragu

Good list, bolognese has been horribly bastardised.

im too poor to afford meat at the moment, tonight i had honey+mustard pasta, but i never drain the meat, its tasty!!!

sigh, i must say im jealous.

i'd skip the carrot, but otherwise the more vegetables the merrier.

i grate the carrot and use it for the base ... by the time the cooking is done it's almost completely broken down

adds flavour and body to the sauce

I don't put meat in my spaghetti. Come to think of it, I don't really eat spaghetti all that much to begin with. Maybe once every three or four months?

actually you know what guys? I really dont like spaghetti. Whenever my mother would make spaghetti (in the manner i described) I would just have a bowl of plain angel hair noodles with butter and salt on them. sometimes I would put parmesegjoeijreiso cheese instead of salt but you get the idea.

I don't put meat in my spaghetti.

I was planning to say this, and then halfway through the thread I saw that I had already said it. So I tried to quote you but I hit edit by mistake and I couldn't figure out why I suddenly had the power to edit your posts.
