post in here about the latest show you've been to that you really enjoyed. this is inspired by an awesome show i went to last night in Hamilton

Feb 18th 2007, Club Absinthe, Hamilton - The Postage Stamps with Fire Hydrant and Love Bolt

Great energy, good variation in musical styles between the bands. This was also the Hamilton CD release party for the Postage Stamps' new record. You can here some of the new songs on their myspace: www.myspace.com/thepostagestamps

Their music reminds me of EITS a lot, because it's very pretty, beautiful layers, also ethereal vocals and nothing pompous or pretentious. They're all really nice guys too, and I'm really really surprised they're not signed to a label yet.

I saw Captain Ahab on Saturday night and their shows are always fun. They're a self-described "ravesploitation" band. Wikipedia describes their shows as such:

While performing, members of Captain Ahab are usually partially undressed, covered in sweat, and constantly forcing themselves into physical contact with members of the audience. While the lyrics to some Captain Ahab songs are satirically misogynist, their live performance is thoroughly homoerotic.

That is pretty accurate. Lots of drunken sweaty dancing/moshing with MEN.

Triple Whip/Ryan Groff/Nonagon - Iron Post, Urbana, IL February 18th

first off, it was a 7-9 thing, so everyone had like 35 minutes of set time

Triple Whip tore up. never see nthem live before, and they really used their time to the max. best chick drummer ever.

Ryan Groff was also great. The elsinore songs sound kinda hollow without the band, but the cover of D.C. Sleeps and the new song were both awesome

Nonagon kinda sucked

Neko Case a week ago at the Commodore in Vancouver. Absolutely smokin' performance. She hit all of the notes magnificantly, the song selection was great, and she lived up to the hype as being one righteously funny chick. She even breifly busted into the robot dance. The fricken ROBOT dance. The Bob Dylan cover (Buckets of Rain) was pretty damn cool too. I wish more people could be as cool as Neko.
