You guys probably don't know/care, but I sold both my Rickenbacker and my "soniclovenoize" Fender Jazz basses last summer; although I regret it (especially the Rick) I REALLY needed the $$$ at the time. Well, anyways, I'm getting a new bass for Xmas, an early present next week actually! It's a hollow-body Lyle bass... I couldn't find much info on these things, other than...
A) It's a rip off of an Aria 1220, which dates this at 1967-1969
B) Made in Japan? and...
C) The Crew at Lyle were actually trained by Gibson.

Awesome looking bass. Strange to see how most basses are just goddamn ugly. Pity you sold the rick. Please don't tell me it was a FG 4003...

A friend of mine in high school played a Lyle (not a hollow body though). It has a pretty solid tone to it. Decent pick ups, great for slap. Not a step up from your rick though.
