Quality performance. It was sort of cool to see them do their first network performance, because you know they're gonna get bigger.

I predict this band will gain at least moderate mainstream success. I really like them. I was hoping they would play Lazy Eye and not Well Thought Out Twinkles, so I was happy.

i like the sound but the vocals annoy me slightly, sounds a bit too saccharin.

I wish the res was better :(

But, they sound pretty fucking good for a TV performance. His voice sounds exactly the same, I always thought they added some sort of studio chorus or something.

what a shitty mix (judging from the flac posted at dime, not the youtube vid). I don't like the short version of Lazy Eye :( when I saw them they did a feedback interlude thing and it went like 8 or 9 minutes.

Performances on Letterman and Leno always tend to sound like shit for some reason.
Thanks for the vid though.

yeah, but they sound so hollow...there is no intensity or feeling to their songs. its just airy-fairy sugary pop with a slightly pumpkinesque flavour, but without the depth or creativity. and the most exciting thing about them is watching the drummer headbanging.

mainstream indie has drained the emotion, urgency, and sincerity out of rock. posers of the world, unite and take over.

i wouldn't say silversun are posers, i just don't think they're very good yet. aside from the singer, who clearly wants to be something more than he is, the other band members seem bored or wholly indifferent.

they arent the posers i speak of. im generalizing, but the entire rock scene (especially the fanbase) right now seems very weak.

monkeyfritters

and there does seem to be a contrived nature to their music. their image is cool, the sounds are cool, but the song is boring... this seems to be epidemic in alternative rock these days.

i saw them a couple weeks ago at the riviera theatre in chicago and they rocked hard. the lead singer's voice sounds much deeper in person than on the album and his guitar solos were solid. they only played for 30 minutes and sang about 6 or 7 songs...all of them at what seemed like double time or something so they could get in as many different songs as they could in that amount of time. personally, i like the letterman version of lazy eye as much as the version on the album.

btw, anyone have a link to an mp3 of it? :D

they get compared to sp all the time and i can hear/see the similarities. they have a lead singer with a not-so-conventional voice ala bc, they have a chick bass player and hell...they even have an asian-y type guy in the band.

if sp was at this stage of their evolution in this day and age, i could see them sounding something like sspu. if sspu is at their "gish" stage after releasing pikul & carnavus, their next few albums should be unbelieveable.

They're not on the SP level at all, but it makes me excited to hear new and accessible rock and roll with loud guitars and such.

I assume they were playing with another band if they only played for 30 minutes?

i agree redbreegull. i'm not saying they're anywhere near the level of sp. but they at least have a somewhat similar feel to their music which i like. espeically the loud/soft/loud dynamic. i have both their ep and latest album and there are a lot of very good songs on both.

they opened for wolfmother and were the first band on the bill. another band came on after them, dead meadow, but they weren't very good. i'm not a huge fan of wolfmother, but they put on a good show.

They sound as much like the pumpkins as they do any other number of bands, I don't know where you people are getting this
