That had to be one of the best feelings for him, wouldn't you think? Growing up so attached to that city the way he did, admiring the Cubs at an early age, living down the street from Wrigley for many years... to get the chance to be the instigator of such an iconic gesture like that seems like a pretty cool thing to do. Wrigley Field is such a great place to do it, too, because the fans are always so enthousiastic about the games.

Yes he must have been giddy like a child. It's just a shame that it's horrendous to listen to.

Reminds me of how I feel Billy felt when he got to smash a guitar on some wanker in a Real Live wrestling match, man, Billy's inner child must be so fulfilled.

He's a fucking rock star - he is "fulfilled" in so many damn ways.

probably the same childlike joy he felt playing for the final bozo show, playng with floyd, playing with bowie, etc.

He doesn't sing it all that great, true, but it's not exactly a song that you need a refined singing voice for. The Star Spangled Banner, maybe, but not for Take Me Out to the Ball Game. I think he looked like he was having a blast... and the people in the stands looked pretty happy about it, too.

i don't think he really cared about the song or the game, it was just another publicity stunt

yeah it was really fun watching him try to sing it during the playoffs during the aweful game. there was no life in the stadium at all and they started booing him after he had some "we never give up!" speech....poor guy

I remember an interview with him where he talked about that. If I remember it correctly, he said it was horrible to get up there and sing that song while his team was doing so bad.

what you are speaking of is the playoff game (methinks) - though he has done it more than once, hopefully everytime he sings in public isnt a horrible memory for will.

Hey all, I'm new

I know he does Cubs commentary on XRT in Chicago (where I live), and I know I have heard him some years ago, but did he do it last season? I listen to XRT a lot and I haven't heard from him on the Cubs stuff... It is XRT, right?

yeah he did it that a couple years ago (sosa was still around) but it was a second half of the season type thing and that was it.
