I forgot his username. I saved the soundfile he posted though. probably bullshit.

It kinda sounds like the bass/drum stoner rock band OM.

I deleted it. I didn't believe it. I stick with 'undefined'.

why would you delete it and not half the other inane threads that are up on the sp board right now. In any case, it's kinda cool sounding whoever made it

I saw the thread when i logged into here today but by the time i ckecked into the forum it was gone
The drums sound really...weird, and the hi-hat reminds me of glass theme and cash car
It's kind of, not too disimilar to what i would expect jams for the new material to sound like
And you'd think if it was something faked they wouldn't up it with that dropout at about 1:05, but then again that might be intentional
It would be nice if someone could post what was posted in the thread

The drums are out of time before they come in with the proper beat. That alone is enough to discount this as fake.

What SP board?

Sigma

Actually I think the drums are just playing a really strange rythm at first and not out of time.

I can hear a laugh at 3 s ... that's Billy for sure, but I think it's fake...

That reminds me of "Why Am I So Tired"... and laugh reminds me of TAFH...

Sigma

Yeah that laugh sounds like one from one of the TAFH tracks. However, I wonder who this is if not them. It sounds like the intro to something kind of cool.

The gweetar at the beginning reminds me of 'Light Rail Coyote' by Sleater-Kinney.

If this is real, it sucks, I don't care who plays on it. I need a nap. :dammit:

why would you delete it and not half the other inane threads that are up on the sp board right now. heh, that's actually a good point. I just think that if there's a player up, it's there where we will hear something first. OK.

yeah, the drums sound kinda like Machina 2.

"We heard two tracks with no vocals. Just one guitar and drums," he describes to me. "I’d say just the very floor plan of two songs and they both sound pretty epic. The two songs could be… I’d say they probably have the intelligence of the [Machina - the Machines of God] record but the accessibility of [Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness]. So I think it’s going to be just what a fan would want."

its sounds like HMM (Alt)'s slightly less retarded cousin.

Katy Lied
10-16-2006, 04:23 PM
it's totally possible it could be pumpkins, it does have that machina 2 feeling. or maybe it's some old demo FROM machina 2 that someone is pawning off as new.

No doubt in my mind now.

The beginning, amplified in GoldWave:

That's Billy, no question. Unless someone was being really clever and mixed some background noise plus some rare clip of Billy laughing into this song (edit: looks like I was right, it is), this is some new early Pumpkins studio work.

It could be leftover Machina 2 stuff intended for the band's myspace page or something, especially if that other jazzy/lo-fi song floating around is SP. Or, it could be a demo for the new album.

Unlike the alt. version of Heavy Metal Machine, this song isn't that bad. The drum tracking in particular is pretty cool.

edit: It's Billy, no question -- from 1997! haha

Cool As Ice Cream

it could be billy laughing during an interview for example. someone who would want to trick us into believing this is real, could easily add it to intro of the clip.

there seems to be quite the cut between the laugh and the music

Corganist
10-16-2006, 04:54 PM
I don't know. I think the laugh is probably Billy's, but I'm not so sure that the laugh is from the same recording as the rest of the track. It seems like the music comes in a little suddenly after the laugh, without any kind of countoff leading into it or anything. One second theres laughing, and the next there's playing. That kinda struck me as odd, but I suppose there are all sorts of things that could explain it. For all we know, this could be from a tape compiling many rehearsal songs, and the laughing is just from the tail end of the previous track.

But overall, its an interesting clip. I can probably buy this music being a lo-fi SP-esque studio jam, though I'm a little skeptical. The drumming doesn't sound all that Jimmy-like. And even if this is legit SP, I don't know of this gives us a very clear picture of what the record will sound like. I don't think that with RTB as producer that we're gonna get something from the Machina II school of lo-fi production. I imagine that whatever gets officially released probably won't sound anything like this clip.

Oh, wait! It's the same laugh from the beginning of Chewing Gum.
Fake.

Effloresce
10-16-2006, 05:21 PM
Yeah, the drumming really isn't giving a Jimmy vibe at all. The mixing and intensity of the mixing makes you want to think it is, but it's not. But yeah, the laugh is the same as it is on Chewing Gum for those of you who didn't want to read the rest of Page 1.

I know nothing about studio work and often try to make guesses. We can all agree it sounds like shit.
