which would you rather the new album's sound resemble? siamese dream or gish?

I personally favor a gish sound.

i also prefer the GISH sound.

however, knowing that SP will never rehash something they have already done.......i think it would be awesome to start with that GISH sound as a base, and then evolve it into a different direction than SD, but still one that is rooted in GISH. Does that make sense? Like going back to step 1, but ending up with a different step 2. :smoke:

yea, use the gish sound as foundation.... and then just see what develops.
any album that evolves from gish will be absolutely awful!!! I can't wait!

Gish was more about dynamics; SD was more about blowing your head off

its all about preference i guess

yeah, gish was totally about the crescendos and decrescendos. i love it, it's all very climactic.

A combo between the epicness of Gish and the songwriting finesse of SD would be wonderful. It'll never happen though.

you fucking retards
do you think billy and jimmy are gonna be sitting in a room, pondering the precentage of each of their old album's sound they would like to add up to their upcoming record?
"hmm i think we should set teh brain knob to gish and then try and evolve from there"

"oh no man, i think we should take the unrefined squealing of gish and mix it with the rocking foundations of the soaring sd, and sprinkle some mcis dust all over that"

you either give them too much credit or thinking way too much into it.
they're just gonna get a in a fucking room and play and see what comes out.

I disagree with Gish being a more dymanic album than Siamese Dream. Today, Hummer, Soma, Geek USA, Mayonaise, Spaceboy, Silverfuck... they all have amazing dynamic expressions. From loud, to angelically quiet, to screaming, to soothing... all in seconds of a transition.

SD - absolutely!!! One of the best Rock-albums of the 90s! Still very powerful sound and great guitar-production!

I love the sound of the drums on Gish. It's very solid and in your face... Song-wise, I prefer SD's content.

Well, they can't predict the results to an infinite degree, but Billy usually seems to have a pretty good idea of what kind of sound he wants before he makes an album.

I would hope it doesnt sound like SD and has more of a live band feel like Gish. Gish has all four members contributing unlike SD.

i like gish, but i find that sd is much more varied.
many of gish's songs sound VERY similar.
a return to either of the sounds would be well accepted from me though.

Why? I don't know I guess just personal preference. I did not get into The Smashing Pumpkins until last year when I found a copy of SD in my dads basement, and got instantly hooked. Didn't get around to getting gish until after I had already bought and listened the fuck out of MCIS, Adore, & PI. So I guess by the time I got to Gish it just felt too raw to what I had gotten used to.
