View Full Version : sd or gish? ella 10-11-2006, 07:23 PM which would you rather the new album's sound resemble? siamese dream or gish? I personally favor a gish sound. davin 10-11-2006, 07:46 PM i also prefer the GISH sound. however, knowing that SP will never rehash something they have already done.......i think it would be awesome to start with that GISH sound as a base, and then evolve it into a different direction than SD, but still one that is rooted in GISH. Does that make sense? Like going back to step 1, but ending up with a different step 2. :smoke: Iamone6942 10-11-2006, 08:14 PM Machina. ella 10-11-2006, 08:37 PM i also prefer the GISH sound. however, knowing that SP will never rehash something they have already done.......i think it would be awesome to start with that GISH sound as a base, and then evolve it into a different direction than SD, but still one that is rooted in GISH. Does that make sense? Like going back to step 1, but ending up with a different step 2. :smoke: yea, use the gish sound as foundation.... and then just see what develops. any album that evolves from gish will be absolutely awful!!! I can't wait! Karl Connor 10-11-2006, 08:38 PM Gish was more about dynamics; SD was more about blowing your head off its all about preference i guess Karl Connor 10-11-2006, 08:38 PM Gish was more about dynamics; SD was more about blowing your head off its all about preference i guess Karl Connor 10-11-2006, 08:39 PM Gish was more about dynamics; SD was more about blowing your head off its all about preference i guess ella 10-11-2006, 08:43 PM yeah, gish was totally about the crescendos and decrescendos. i love it, it's all very climactic. Kanan Road 10-11-2006, 09:23 PM GISH by far Bleakest Harves 10-12-2006, 08:45 AM A combo between the epicness of Gish and the songwriting finesse of SD would be wonderful. It'll never happen though. teh b0lly!!1 10-12-2006, 08:51 AM you fucking retards do you think billy and jimmy are gonna be sitting in a room, pondering the precentage of each of their old album's sound they would like to add up to their upcoming record? "hmm i think we should set teh brain knob to gish and then try and evolve from there" "oh no man, i think we should take the unrefined squealing of gish and mix it with the rocking foundations of the soaring sd, and sprinkle some mcis dust all over that" you either give them too much credit or thinking way too much into it. they're just gonna get a in a fucking room and play and see what comes out. geebus Izzle 10-12-2006, 11:14 AM "hmm i think we should set teh brain knob to gish and then try and evolve from there" Cool As Ice Cream 10-12-2006, 11:32 AM petition to delete the sp board Reyngel 10-12-2006, 12:39 PM I disagree with Gish being a more dymanic album than Siamese Dream. Today, Hummer, Soma, Geek USA, Mayonaise, Spaceboy, Silverfuck... they all have amazing dynamic expressions. From loud, to angelically quiet, to screaming, to soothing... all in seconds of a transition. JeremyX 10-12-2006, 01:03 PM SD - absolutely!!! One of the best Rock-albums of the 90s! Still very powerful sound and great guitar-production! Dead 10-12-2006, 01:36 PM SIAMESE DREAM CAUSE I NEVER LISTEN to gish. i ran out of enthusiasm. mccririck 10-12-2006, 01:53 PM Gish wHATcOLOR 10-12-2006, 02:16 PM i also prefer the GISH sound. lol. you're one of a kind <thankfully> mccririck 10-12-2006, 02:20 PM *GISH* Always reminds me of the sound of Jimmy's cymbols. alisonmonster 10-12-2006, 02:39 PM i'd prefer the fish sound. ella 10-12-2006, 02:39 PM i really do enjoy soma on sd though... but i think gish has a more solid sound. if that makes any sense ohnoitsbonnie 10-12-2006, 02:45 PM i want them to sound like the smashing pumpkins ella 10-12-2006, 02:47 PM and what is that sound bonnie firewoman 10-12-2006, 03:02 PM I love the sound of the drums on Gish. It's very solid and in your face... Song-wise, I prefer SD's content. they're just gonna get a in a fucking room and play and see what comes out. geebus yup, I agree Cool As Ice Cream 10-12-2006, 03:09 PM the new album is going to be called siamese pishes. it will contain all the good things from gish, sd and pi. omg i can't wait. ohnoitsbonnie 10-12-2006, 03:11 PM and what is that sound bonnie miraculous Charmbag 10-12-2006, 05:24 PM you fucking retards do you think billy and jimmy are gonna be sitting in a room, pondering the precentage of each of their old album's sound they would like to add up to their upcoming record? "hmm i think we should set teh brain knob to gish and then try and evolve from there" "oh no man, i think we should take the unrefined squealing of gish and mix it with the rocking foundations of the soaring sd, and sprinkle some mcis dust all over that" you either give them too much credit or thinking way too much into it. they're just gonna get a in a fucking room and play and see what comes out. geebus Well, they can't predict the results to an infinite degree, but Billy usually seems to have a pretty good idea of what kind of sound he wants before he makes an album. RockLobster 10-12-2006, 05:35 PM nevermind Catherine Wheel 10-14-2006, 12:07 PM I would hope it doesnt sound like SD and has more of a live band feel like Gish. Gish has all four members contributing unlike SD. Cherub Angel 10-14-2006, 12:10 PM Set the ray to Gish ciGarski 10-14-2006, 12:15 PM while giving me head the other day, corgan told me its really just a return to the cyber metal. and he's ready to rock again. i think. i don't know it was kinda muffled. ciGarski 10-14-2006, 12:15 PM don't be jealous davin Banana 10-14-2006, 12:32 PM SD, Gish is my least liked album from them. Effloresce 10-14-2006, 02:35 PM Gish, definitely. ella 10-14-2006, 03:52 PM SD, Gish is my least liked album from them. Why!? firewoman 10-14-2006, 03:55 PM yeah, why?! Hammerite 10-15-2006, 02:29 AM i like gish, but i find that sd is much more varied. many of gish's songs sound VERY similar. a return to either of the sounds would be well accepted from me though. Channah 10-15-2006, 07:11 AM SD easily. Banana 10-15-2006, 11:29 PM Why? I don't know I guess just personal preference. I did not get into The Smashing Pumpkins until last year when I found a copy of SD in my dads basement, and got instantly hooked. Didn't get around to getting gish until after I had already bought and listened the fuck out of MCIS, Adore, & PI. So I guess by the time I got to Gish it just felt too raw to what I had gotten used to. ChrisChiasson 10-15-2006, 11:37 PM yeah, gish was totally about the crescendos and decrescendos. i love it, it's all very climactic. you totally missed a chance to say descendo(s) Hammerite 10-16-2006, 10:30 AM Why?
