They really, really, really need to stop making them smaller/"flashier" and work out the major technological issues iPods have. Jesus are they shite, generally speaking.

I mean, I understand Mac's farmed out the production for them most likely, and being so mass produced the quality takes a hit, but it's a disgrace Apple's name is aligned with them.

how come the reg ipod's are 30gb and 80gb now? I really wanted to see the 120GB come out this time. and why not make the 30 60? and how the fuck are you supposed to play games on them :erm: jesus

I could use those extra 20 gbs.

Exactly. The iPod is still the easiest and best mp3 player out there, as much as I don't want to admit it :p. I have a 60gb 4th gen iPod photo, but i wouldn't mind video capabilities for trips and such. Im glad i didn't bother trying to get 60gb 5th gen as the 80 is a better option.

Whats so horrible about them? Mine has worked for years now, 20GB 4th Generation clickwheel. Like any mass made electronic device from Asia, some of them break, it happens, no more or less than any other large producer of portable media players. Its nothing new Apple (not Mac) has had them made overseas for ever and a half now.

Once the iPod can do HD video playback then there is no incentive to buy it, 640x480 is at least a step up but not nearly good enough.

Those new Nanos are pretty sweet, they make me miss my old green Ipod Mini.

And I just got a couple of the games for mine and they are good. I'm going to try to refrain from playing them unless I'm really bored, though. I already have a DS lite anyway and I don't want my click wheel on my Ipod to go any sooner than it has to.

Yeah I agree with sppunk. The thing going on about making things smaller and smaller all the time is just as stupid as when everything needed to be big in the 70s/80s. I mean how is something that small even convenient? I'd like to see what kind of thing is playing my music.

Ahhh, so that's probably why sppunk doesn't like it...

I think the Nano and (moreso) shuffle are really geared towards people who enjoy music while exercising, of which the smaller the better. The lower price of the shuffle also works out for people on a budget as well. The whole idea behind these players are portability too, i doubt you would like to cling around a big clunky mp3 player vs one that fits in yer pocket. the small size works for the shuffle cause of how it works i think.

Or for people who just don't have that much music. If I had less than a few hundred songs on my computer I can't imagine why I would buy anything but that new version of the shuffle. I mean I feel naked now if I have less than 6,000 songs with me but for someone who just wants a few favorite songs with them that would be the most incredible thing to just clip on your shirt and go.

What major technological issues? Can you cite a source to support this general shiteness?

I mean, I understand Mac's farmed out the production for them most likely, and being so mass produced the quality takes a hit, but it's a disgrace Apple's name is aligned with them.
I'd be surprised if Apple manufactures anything themselves; everything's likely produced through East Asian OEMs.

The new shuffle looks a lot better then the old one that resembled a stick of gum.

I think I might upgrade to the 80gig video. We'll see.

I honestly don't get the gripes people have with iPods. Please show me a technoligical flaw. They are a great, usefull product, get over it.
