When I was a kid I remember getting a hold the Cult's Love, which turned me on to a harder and darker brand of rock'n'roll that I had ever known previously. In retrospect, I think that album influenced my taste in music forever.

What first album affected or changed you in an unforgettable way? Post a picture of the album cover.

Well I was raised on Hank by my dad thats all I really knew other than My moms love for Simon and Garfunkel. Which with Hank LOL I dont think you could get two bands/artist that were as much different than the other. With Hank I could see that he was one of the most influential artist's of all time, he was Rock n roll before there was a name for rock n roll. Think about any rock n roll artist that came in the hey day of rock. Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis, Eddie Cochran, even Chuck Berry. They were all influenced by Hank whether they admitted it or not. Anyways It would have to be probally a greatest hits album, I mean I've heard all of Hank's music but to pin point it all, I would have to go with.

i still listen to it all the time. i bought it as a stab-in-the-dark and it still impresses me to this day. Sure, people have a go at it for not being Daydream-esque noisey shoegaze, but its still a fine fucking collection of guitar pop.

my first love was when i bought nick drakes pink moon at the age of 9 (also the first record i ever bough). my second love was probably the queen is dead, which i bought at the age of 10 after hearing morrisseys intelligent vocals and johnny marrs arpeggiated genius on the radio.

shortly after starting high school i found myself to be done with pop-music, i abandoned it altogether and have only been listening to IDM, improvisational jazz and classical music since.

From about the age of two my Dad started playing me Klaus Schulz's Beyond Recall. The music was bizarre and ethereal, and completely mesmerised me, added to the stories my dad would tell to the music taken from folk tales he heard in South America. I still listen to it. That really got me interested in all forms of music from a young age.

i don't think i really listened to music until i was about 10 or 11. i mean i did like the beatles before and some rem songs but i didn't yet understand the concept of buying albums and listening to them back to back and paying attention to the lyrics etc.

I didn't buy my first cd until I was eleven or twelve. But I went to concerts before that and listened to my parents albums. The album I posted in this thread (an old John Mellencamp one) I consider my first love because I remember my dad listening to it all the time and it conjures up very specific memories and places and thoughts now.

Modern Talking... Wow.

The first thing that popped into my mind when i read "the first album that really changed the way you listen to music" was OK Computer though. There are other albums that had its effects but this was just incredible. I was 15 when OKC came out and i'm 24 now, but no other album has had the impact that OK Computer had since.
